Eurgh.
That final episode was going great right up until the end. What anti-climatic nonsense.
There's nothing that makes me want to see season 2 - that was the biggest waste of a good storyline. Nothing seemed to come out of it until a potential standoff between Clay and that fella against Jax and Opie's father..
Dissapointed.

i liked it actually,
i guess it makes sense that it wasnt the biggest cliffhanger,
they didnt know they were even gettin picked up,
isnt that what they said about the finale to the shield season 1,
but i want to see the rest, jax knows clay ordered the hit,
and piney gave jax another book thing,

I finished watching SOA a few weeks ago, it took me, like most have said a few episodes to get into it, but I had the leisure of watching a few episodes at a time which helped hold my interest. I have a few comments.
For those comparing SOA to TS, give it a rest. Same writer, yes, but completely different shows, different characters, different stories, different MOs. I was going to say we're on the other side of the law here with SOA, but heck, so was TS. TS was unique, a diamond in the rough, nothing will be comparable, nothing may ever reach the same calibre again in our lifetimes. Stop comparing apples and oranges!
At first I thought the show was a farfetched on the bikie gang stuff, eg, I thought the patches on the jackets were too clean for this to have been an existing bikie gang. However, about halfway through my viewing I watched a couple of docos on bikie gangs, the Hells Angels and the Mongols, cops had undercover gang members initiated to get inside the gangs and I have to say though Kurt Sutter denies having got his information from anywhere, he certainly did his homework. Not to be based on a specific gang, but to encapsulate gang life and ways. I had no idea about bikie gangs until watching this show and docos, so if my ramblings seem naive, then well, they are! Official meetings once a week, calling the newbies prospect (minor detail I know, but I didn't know they actually did this), shootouts with other gangs, patchovers, each division (not the right word, but it escapes me as I write) of the gangs generally having six members - although I think SOA has more than six, the footage they showed of the bikie gangs in the docos showed clean white patches, the obvious gun trading and drugs, understandings/relationships with cops... there were a few other subtleties which escape me for the moment. After watching the docos, I appreciated SOA more for Sutter's attention to detail.
As for the characters and arcs in SOA... apologies for not remembering character names or not knowing the actors names....
At first I didn't like Katey Sagal, Gemma grated on me for the first few episodes, the more I saw though the more I appreciated her work. I didn't like Clay, Fuckkernando mentioned his mumbling already, but I didn't beleive he could be the leader of this gang. His interaction with Katey's character changed my opinion of him, but I never thought he was in full control. I do not like him at all. I don't like Gemma because of who she is, but I do like to see her stand up the way she does, smacking that bitch in the head with the skateboard was awesome. She herself is a manipulating bitch, but she has to be in the situation she is in.
Jax and his fathers book seemed a little cliche. I know the arc had to include a new way for the gang, but for it to come through in his fathers writings like this just seemed a bit contrived. Though I like the way his character developed and is developing.
Poor Opies missus. I didn't see that coming till they changed cars. The whole rat storyline intrigued me.
I did like Dutchman playing the psycho. I thought it was good to see him in that different role. He looked different he sounded different, didn't have the slow Dutch drawl. I was rooting for Jax to pull the trigger, I wanted Dutch's ass dead. The sex afterward was a bit awkward, raw, but brought doctor lady down to the same level into the same shit as Jax. She made that choice.
Other bits and pieces have been entertaining, the prospects girl, the fights, the irish arc, the compulsive mastabater, elvis impersonators, the dude having his balls cut off.... etc...
I will be keeping an eye out for season 2.

His interaction with Katey's character changed my opinion of him, but I never thought he was in full control. I think we'll eventually see that he's NOT in control... Gemma is. I think she took out Jax's dad when he started "wimping out" on her, and I think she'll do the same to Clay.

Ok--Who is watching the SOA still? What is up with last nights ep? Was John Teller living a different life in Ireland? DId he start another charter there? And what was with their Pres having a "first 8" patch? and the one chick referenced Able having family in Ireland, did JT have another family there?
I found the whole bit very confusing please someone explain.

the season looks good so far - Stephen King was great in the last episode - thanks for that blog info, BC, I was confused by the whole Belfast thing too and that cleared it up a little
also, caught the new Hawaii 5-O - certainly didn't meet the hype - I never thought Alex O'Loughlin was any good - he sucked in The Shield and he's pretty bad here - the theme song update was cool though

I found the whole bit very confusing please someone explain. I'm finding this whole Irish story less than compelling - the acting is good but the show is really dragging - I am hoping there will be a big payoff and that much will be revealed - it does look like Kenny Johnson is becoming an integral part of the cast - the writers tied his character in with Tig so he will be around at least until they get that resolved
