Oh good lord Micheal Chiklis!
What were you thinking!?!
Rise (2006) Supernatural thriller in which a female reporter wakes up in a morgue to find herself a member of the undead. She vows revenge against the sect that put her there and hunts them down.
ALSO STARRING LUCY LIU! Liu is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE actress who I find to be incredibly unattractive.
This movie is going to suck big time.

Well, jray... I wonder WHAT ARE YOU THINKING by posting this? Chiklis is making money and a great career move for himself with an actress that a lot of people find HOT. Marilyn Manson is slated to co-star in the flick. You obviously are in the DARK and I would vote you in as one of the first victims, but then again that would give you too much notoriety and all you deserve right now is a rotton egg.

Indeed...He's probably making a LOT of money. But does that mean he should do crap?
And as for people finding Lucy Liu hot, that's a matter of taste. People thought Zubaz and Mullets were fashionable...does that make them any less disgusting? Personally, I find Lucy Liu to be a paper-thin uggo and feel completely repulsed by her. Then again, I don't fancy myself to be "man-pretty" either.
But in all honesty, Marilyn Manson? Do they just give any mainstream musician a featured role in film now-a-days? Maybe I should've started that garage band afterall.

Have you seen the movie, jray? No. Therefore, you cannot judge it and call it crap. Maybe you should find out more about people and yourself before you start barfing judgment. Your opinion does not necessarily speak for mainstream society. I am interested in both Liu and Manson being in this film as I am sure many people are. This is a highly anticipated film. Try to at least ACT like you know something about what you are talking about when you post.

I read an article about Marilyn Manson's reaction to Chiklis - he said when Chiklis was in character that he was scared as hell of him - thought he was going to rough him up for real.

I personally saw something with pics or a trailer on this. Chicklis looked pretty bad ass. manson even stated that Chiklis' acting ability even scared him into thinking it was real. Not a big horror flick fan, but I will reserve passing judgement until I see it!

Personally and honestly, I _won't_ go see it simply because I despise Lucy Liu (boring, kinda skanky actress at best) and Marilyn Manson (freakshow on wheels). And on top of that, another vampire movie? YAWN. Written by the same guy who brought us the same stunners "Gothika" and "The Big Bounce." Sorry Chik! Undoubtably they will get someone's money, but not mine. *nasty snippy comment about panhandling Goth kids deleted before hitting 'post'* Hee hee!

Agreed Teri.
Even if I did want to see it...which I definitely do not, I don't think I could handle the insane amount of Goth kids in the theater lines.

Wow, I'm definitely not goth, but have always loved wearing black clothes and shit stomping boots and shoes. When I went to OZZFEST, Manson was one of the bands that played and I thought the concert kicked ass! I am more rock-n-roll/head banger, but if Goth is your thing...whatever. It is called self expression. I would rather see someone be self expressive than rolling off the assembly line in droves wearing Abercrombie & Fitch outfits. I am rather the non-conformist, though. Being like everybody else is f*cking boring.

I and my little cluster o freaks were goth/punk/skater/hippies in high school.... Bauhaus, Skinny Puppy, and The Grateful Dead were our favs. Manson didn't come on the scene until I had outgrown that phase of my life.... I don't care too much for him, but to each his own. A couple of my friends got to meet him backstage once and he acted like a dork. They were expecting him to be "normal" and out of character, but he kept his freaky stage persona on the entire time they were back there. Bummer. Lucy kicked ass (and got her ass kicked!) in Kill Bill... She was a mean uptight bitch in that role - loved it! Anyway, I'm totally addicted to zombie/vampire/monster movies and nothing will keep me from seeing Rise. Here's the Ghost House Pictures website where you can see the trailer/"webisode" for the film: ghosthousepictures.comingsoon.net/main.php

That's not self expression or originality, that's being in a clique and dressing like your friends. Ooooo, how rebellious.

When I sported the long hair (okay I won't say exactly when but suffice it to say 'God I'm getting old' , ha ha), I remember pops referring to "hippies" (anyone with long hair) as "conforming nonconformists". To this I said ... well, nothing. What could I say ... he was basically right. ;D

Well, Teri, you damn sure have the rebellious part right. I can be a bitch when someone wants to hit my bitch switch. But, just because I like black clothes doesn't mean I don't also like the colors purple, blue, red and green. I don't believe you are the resident expert on my head. So, I suggest you play nice until you get to know me better and don't try categorizing me until then. When God made me, he broke the mold, darlin'. I've never even heard of this movie and I consider myself a film buff that goes to a flick about once ever week or two and owns nearly 600 DVDs...BUT...
(1) At least Chik is breaking out of just TV...Fantastic Four I actually enjoyed knowing the badass that was underneath the suit.
and
(2) Everyone's got opinions. No need to get harsh and beat on someone, actress, board member, whoever...I saw in another thread we don't want TSR turning into FX (agh!). Not that it's going to at all, but even I wouldn't like to see even remains of it.
Thanks.

I never really understood the Goth thing. A vast majority of the kids I've seen around Chicago that are dressed in Goth always look simply miserable--like they're either embarassed to be seen in their getup or they lost a bet. As for Rise, it could be awful or it could surprise me and be halfway decent. If Uwe Boll isn't part of the crew, it stands a chance. I'll rent it, I rent damned near everything. David Lynch had Marilyn Manson in a small role in Lost Highway. I don't remember if he even had any lines. Just this morning, I read in the paper that Manson got $4.2 million in financing to direct and star in something called Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll, a (in his words) ...psychological horror film that is unlike the kind we see today. It's some surreal thing based on the life of Carroll, who wrote Alice in Wonderland.

I kind of like goths. They are amusing to look at, just like guys who wear 12" tall Mohawks are. And some of the Goth chicks are downright provocative and sexy. I completely disagree that they don't feel comfortable with being looked at--I mean, isn't that the whole point? (again, just like the guys with the Mohawks) Granted, they may look alike, but the msg. I get is that they don't fit in with the mainstream, so they're gonna form their own little subculture to identify with each other -- AND they will try to make it as off the wall as they can just to rub it in. As long as they're harmless and nonviolent, why not? Like someone said the Abercrombie and Fitch crowd, and the Tommy crowd, aren't a whole lot different -- just different "uniforms." All of the above, by the way, are reasons why many school systems have gone to school uniforms. Those kids will really have a hard time showing how they are "different."

So, I suggest you play nice until you get to know me better and don't try categorizing me until then. When God made me, he broke the mold, darlin'. Here's to getting you know you better and vice versa... How about this - I wasn't talking about you, so don't make it about you. I was talking in generalities. And next, how about looking at the rules on the Topic: TheShieldRap Rules & Guidelines "The Rap Rules - No flaming! You can disagree with the opinions of others, but don't call them or their opinions stupid." Let's see - your post on Feb 12th at 8:47pm violated this rule.... "The Rap Guidelines Don’t post flame-bait. It’s ok to have strong opinions, but please don’t try to irritate other members just for effect." And your posts on Feb 13th at 12:12pm and Feb 14th at 3:10pm blatantly violated that one. And if you will look back and read the posts jray and I made, we NEVER ONCE attacked you personally. However you felt the need to go forth and be snide and snotty and direct your venom towards us. But you know what? That's why anyone with a $399 computer and an AOL connection can get on the internet - so they can have their little opinions out in the world. Don't bother replying, icy.
