ISaid - I think Nip/Tuck is well made...my reactions go back and forth as I find some of the characters impossible to care about. Still, it is a fun kind of guilty pleasure for me from time to time. I just don't think we need another show of this type bumping TS!!!!! (I have to admit I like Peter Gabriel's Digging in the Dirt on the new show's commercials, though.)

^ I love the show too. Other than getting bored with the aforementioned SL, I heard last night's ep was good. I'll watch that tonight after Jericho is over with. I tape all my shows and then watch them when I can.

I'm as bummed as everyone else about having to wait for March for the next eps. If it's any consolation Glen Mazzara said he heard it's really good. I decided to see email him this past Monday to see how he was doing and what he's up to these days. He said "someone from within the shield family who hasn't seen any of season 6 is just sitting down and watching the episodes now. she says they're great. she's halfway though and is on the edge of her seat. fyi -- I have not seen ANY, including stuff I wrote. so it will all be new to me when the next season airs."
It's interesting that he's calling it season 6.

Man...I cant believe this, how horrible. First FX teases us with the "Coming Soon" and now we have to wait until March?!

Yes it's horrible to have to wait. But from the show's standpoint and trying to jockey for ratings and such, it's actually a smart move. All us hardcore fans are going to be there no matter what. IMO it's to get the one's just coming to the show. Still sucks though!

Now that The Wire has finished airing its brilliant 4th Season and most of my other favorite shows are on Holiday Hiatus, I'm jonesing for The Shield more than ever. The other shows really are just filler until The Barn comes back into my life, but they at least help keep my sick away for a little bit.
At least it's only March and not May.

Besides the shield I like Rescue me and nip tuck, only one ep left of Nip tuck, then another 3 plus months of nothing to watch. Why the hell could they not put dirt on wed night or something? FX usually has good shows, but someone needs to tell them there are 6 other nights of the week they can use.

You know.... this is a disturbing turn of events... if Dirt has 13 episodes, and assuming it will air every week without any interruptions, it will have its Season 1 finale on Tuesday, March 27. Therefore, the soonest The Shield can start is TUESDAY, APRIL 3!! GAG! PUKE! AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGggggggggggggggg!

well, the release of the S5 DVD set has been moved back to March 25 and that's usually a good indicator of when the new season starts - the DVDs are released right before the new season starts

Well, I am an ignoramous in the art, so forgive this question...is all of 5-B "in the can", or does this extra time give them some time to put a really fine point on the season?

OK, another stupid question (I gots my stupid Jones on today!), even if filming is done, have they possibly filmed multiple endings, more material than can actually be shown, etc? Even if they are not filming more, can they use these extra months to edit and tweak?
I'm just trying to make myself feel better about the delay. Maybe FX can move TS 5-B to October and drop in a series with Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow as wacky married shrinks who are both treating a clergyman with Shield Interruption Tension (ShIT) or something.

If this will make any of you feel better...
Question: Is there anything you can tell us about FX's Dirt?— Torin Ausiello: The early reviews are in, and they're bad — really bad. We're talking "flop of the year" bad. Consider yourself warned.
MWHAHAHAHAHA! If the ratings are as bad as the reviews, we may get lucky. This is another rumor I heard somewhere (so don't get your hopes up too much) but if this show doesn't do well in its first four episodes, they're going to cancel it and bring The Shield back two weeks later. Personally, I don't see it happening but better to have a hope in hell rather than no hope at all. However, I find this rather funny that the critics are thinking the same thing we are-they pushed back The Shield for this!

Feedback on the show from hardcore Shield fans wouldn't be enough to can it. It would probably take a boatload of really bad press/reviews to have it canned early.....assuming that TS would be brought back earlier than planned.

^ No but really bad ratings would can it in a hurry. We can only hope no one watches it even though those Dirt commercials air about as much as that stuipid TLC Holiday Life Lessons commercial airs. Gag me.

Gag me. Yep. The worst reviews in the world can't hurt a show if the projected number of people tune in for the whole run. Tell me, does CSI and its many clones have support of critics? They all seem the same--lifeless, yet they clean up in the ratings every freakin week. CBS yanked Smith after 7.5 million people tuned in, those asses. Showtime renewed Dexter after an average of 2 million faithfully watched. It's all in perspective and how many people the suits at FX expect to watch. It would have to be a ratings Mega-Bomb to yank it. FX allowed Thief to run its course...they just didn't renew it.

Could a letter-writing campaign to TPTB at FX work to get them to drop/put-off indefinitely this "SOFA-KING WE-TODD-DID" Courtney "Coxucker" Arquette series.

No. I think that would take millions of letters to even be considered. The way FX is dumping money promoting the show makes me think they will be showing every episode they have even if it doesn't get good reviews and ratings.
