www.tvguide.com/News-Views/Columnists/Ask-Matt/default.aspxQuestion: I have heard rumors that FX is going to push back airing the next season of The Shield in order to premiere their new show Dirt instead. It's bad enough having to wait until January to see one of the best shows on television today, but now possibly having to wait until March is just plain wrong. Please put my fears to rest and tell me The Shield is still airing in January.— Charlie Matt Roush: Sorry, Charlie, but I just looked into the situation, and it appears that Dirt will get the January launch date, pushing The Shield back until March or so. I'm not quite sure why FX can't present and promote more than one series at a time, especially if the highly anticipated return of The Shield could help deliver eyeballs to Dirt. But the network does tend to focus its brilliant marketing campaigns on one signature drama at a time, and with The Shield being closer to the end of its run than the beginning, FX needs to give something else a shot.

Well my worst fears seem to have come true. I'm not real sure of FX's strategy in this case. Having a unproven show follow there polpular nip/tuck. I seem to recall them trying this back in march with thief and it did not go well, even though it was a good show in my opinion. It would make more sense to put the shield back on in january in its tuesday slot and then running Dirt on wendsday to build up a bigger audiance.
But this is probably just my hoping we didn't have to wait till march.

Ugh. Can't believe we're gonna have to wait even longer for The Shield. Guess I'll have to watch Dirt to pass the time. I read that the show is about Cox being the editor-in-chief of two of the country's most widely read tabloid magazines. So I guess she digs up dirt on celebrities. It better be good.

First off, E, very clever subject title ...here's crossing her fingers that they will realize this is a bad idea to put it before The Shield. In March, we will be coming down from the season and may be more open to watching a new show. But in the beginning of the year, we are only getting more antsy for the show we want back! I thought they finished filming it already?! They begun in April, no? Now it's just up to editing...

Then why wait so damn long to air it? I dont know who makes these decisions on FX but they certainly know how to mess people around. BUT maybe there's another reason to this. Maybe they're going to make more episodes that the supposed ten, and release maybe a longer than normal season to finish the show off. Maybe this will be the proper season 6. Doubt it though

The opening splash at the fx homepage has a flash teaser for DIRT that says 'January.' This SUCKS!

Murt, Dirt is supposed to be about Courtney Cox, starring as a tabloid writer and her life surrounding her job. I'm not a big CC fan.
But to quote Thom from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and pardon my accent...I can't do a NY accent to save my life with me being from Arkansas and all:
"This is haaaarrrible!"
We have to wait a whole 3 more months until we find out what happens to Shane! Why must TPTB at FX do this to us!!!
Oh the humanity!

Wait... we haven't ACTUALLY been told by FX that they're delaying it. At the same time, the airdate is still January.

^ Word on the street is that the ratings for Thief were so bad, it will meet the same fate as Lucky. It won't be back. But you know how these cable channels are.

Yeah, Thief is kaput. Notice how Andre Braugher won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries.

I actually liked thief but thought it was a one off mini series. I mean six episodes is fairly low. I think the average for most shows like that is around 12 or 13, aint it?

FX ordered 6 episodes due to budget constraints. It was still supposed to be a season #1. But since it got low ratings, they elected to cancel it and call it a miniseries.

I actually like Nip/Tuck, but the whole Sean/Julia/Connor story line is wearing thin on my nerves. I understand where the night nurse and the other woman was coming from about letting the kid be different, but as a former fat kid in school, I know how bad I got teased and how I hated going to school. I can only imagine what it'd be like as a kid with a physical deformity and a father who has the talents to fix it but a mother who won't let him fix it. I'd be pissed.
