The Shield stars threatened by gang bosses By WENN world entertainment news - Monday, April 23The cast and crew of gritty US police drama The Shield were chased off a set in Los Angeles' gang district after failing to clear their filming plans with local street bosses.
The Channel Five show's star Michael Chiklis admits he was terrified when gunwielding gang leaders approached him and his castmates and urged them to halt filming.
The Fantastic Four star recalls, "We're in the seediest neighbourhoods... On one of the first days of the pilot we had 30 members of the gang show up, heavily armed. They were, 'Hey man, what are you doing here?'
"We're like, 'We're shooting... We have a permit.' They were like, 'No man, you have to pay.' So we looked at the retired cops who watch for us and they said, 'Pay the man.'"

THIS MADE MY DAY...You're to tell me, badcop187, that local LA gangbangers are seeing the FINAL season of THE SHIELD before we are?! Awesome, awesome story. Hope it isn't made up. A real link would be nice.

"failing to clear their filming plans with local street bosses"? WTF does that mean? I know they have to get permits from the city for location filming, but street bosses? And I think they would have cops on location to help with traffic and crowd control. Hmmm ... this sounds like a good question for Adam.

WENN is one of the least credible rags out there, so I take this story with about 1000 grains of salt. The only quotes they have from Chiklis are him referring to the pilot. He never specifically addresses the more recent one. I suspect they just took some random Chiklis quote referring to another event and took it out of context to back up their story. I can understand something like this happening when you're shooting a pilot with a small crew; but once you're an established hit with a decent budget working on its seventh season, I just can't see that happening.

Yeah, on Jimmy Kimmel, Chik said it was during the filming of the pilot. I think he tells the same story on the pannel discussion that's included in the extras of the last disc of the season 5 DVDs.
