The event, which benefits the Austin Film Society, is planned for March 10 and will be emceed by Former Texas Governor Ann Richards, who has led the event four times.
Actors Kris Kristofferson and Matthew McConaughey will be inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame, and will be joined by fellow Hall of Famers Sissy Spacek, Ethan Hawke, Terrence Malick and Forest Whitaker.
Kristofferson has been making films for more than 30 years and has appeared in more than 70 movies, including "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," and "A Star is Born," for which he received a Golden Globe award. More recently, he starred in "Planet of the Apes," "Chelsea Walls," "Silver City," "The Wendell Baker Story."
Kristofferson will also participate in a featured interview and showcase as part of the South by Southwest Music Festival, which runs March 15-19. During the SXSW Film Festival, March 10-18, Kristofferson will be a conference speaker as well as present a mini-retrospective of his films.
McConaughey became rose to fame for his performance as David Wooderson in Austin filmmaker Richard Linklater's "Dazed and Confused." He went on to star in "A Time to Kill," "The Newton Boys," "EDtv," "U-571," "The Wedding Planner," "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and "Sahara."
McConaughey is no stranger to the Hall of Fame or the Austin Film Society, as AFS has hosted several of his films' Austin premieres, and in 2003 he inducted actor and friend Woody Harrelson into the Hall of Fame.
In its sixth year, the Texas Film Hall of Fame recognizes actors, directors, screenwriters, filmmakers and films from, influenced or inspired by the Lone Star State.
