This is weird. Didn't Ryan basically say they'd probably bring in scabs to do editing? Because editing and sound work was all that was needed on the last six episodes. If they waited for Ryan, I wonder why. I would like to believe they just wanted to do the show right, but there has to be business or PR at the heart somewhere.

I think the talk about scabs was just speculation--I didn't read any report of it or hear it from anyone. I did hear from Glen Mazzara yesterday and he feels that it will take some time for things to get back to normal. You still have to reassemble people who worked as a team in post-production. It's not like they're all necessarily sitting around L.A. waiting for the word.

FX still waited though. Do they have some ambition with the show besides sending it out the right way?

I think you answered your own question, didn't you?

Yeah, it seems like FX was legitimately trying to do the right thing with the show. I gotta give them credit.

Hmm. Maybe I DID answer my own question. I thought, maybe, they wanted to have a better ending to The Shield than both The Sopranos and The Wire. For the critical acclaim. The Sopranos, though I haven't seen much of the series, fumbled HARD with its ending. The Wire is uncertain at this point. It could go either way. FX might somehow know that The Shield has a better story or something, which made them hold off on some work a scab could do. But then again, that "diabolical" plan isn't diabolical. It's making sure the show is right so you know it'll kick the ass it was meant to kick. Not so evil. Sorry, guys. I always have the connotation of networks having evil intentions when shows get held up (besides the strike anyway).

According to the news....
"Filmed all 16 episodes of its final season but a number still need to be edited. Its return has now been pushed off until mid-summer."
