Reposted from the BlackLab Blog on MySpace!
<<snipped>>
well, we got some cool performance footage and were thinking about what to cut it with when Chris up and went and got married. like, wedding/honeymoon adventure, etc. and then we ran out of time and money and thought, what the hell, let's turn this stuff loose.
it's good shots of the band, but not enough to carry it's own weight in light of the whole no-drummer-in-the-background-making-the-video-interesting thing and the this-song-is-slower-than-death thing. why don't we turn it over to people who have computers and video editing software and give 'em a shot at chopping something up, maybe coming with something cool.
I figure -- you've got home movies, you've got video cameras, you've got the internet. there's a cool dvd hack called handbrake and a youtube rip called mytube people can use to get stuff. we're hoping you can take what you've got, edit it with what we've got, and make something fabulous.
you can get a 30mb download of the quicktime file right here. make something, zip it up, send it to us (you can send it to contact @ blacklabworld.com using yousendit.com) and we'll post the best stuff on that same page. we're even having a little contest, like, giving stuff away for the best vid.
anyway, that's the news.

That sounds awesome! ...So I downloaded the quicktime movie, but cannot see anything! Just a white screen with the music (which I see for most mov files now, gr). And there are no new upgrades for me (still stuck on Win ME) so I cannot get any codecs to view it. If anyone is able to convert it to an avi or mpg file (keeping as much quality as you can), please do! ;D I have a couple ideas (from watching it on youtube) what I could with interlacing Shield footage. But since, like I mentioned, I still have ME, I don't have access to any of the really cool video editor programs made for 2000 or XP so I couldn't do anything really high-tech. Oh well.

That's a pretty cool new avatar you got there, IAR. What episode and scene is it from?

Thanks Kungfu! Appreciate it! ;D I realized that I have to wait until the DVDs are released before I can do anything -- I don't think they want "FX" on the bottom of every Shield clip. Hope they don't expect videos too soon. I'm only in the planning phase anyway... That's a pretty cool new avatar you got there, IAR. What episode and scene is it from? Thanks jadedgirl It's actually from the "previously on The Shield" clip at the beginning of "Riceburners." I first looked in "What Power Is" when they actually dropped the money off for O'Brien to find but it wasn't there... so they recapped what they never showed But I love that clip!! My two favorite Shield men! ;D

Yeah, they are pretty cool. My sig banner didn't originally have those baby blues (they were orginally b&w along with rest of the pic) but IAR and I have some sort of mental sync because before I could suggest to her, she all ready did it for me. Kooky cool.
As for my avatar, I just always pictured Lem as a gumshoe and the Create a SP character did the rest. I did one for Margos too if you want to see that.

::thud:: Thanks E I still have a few solo Ronnie graphics to use, but I do like my two faves together! The sig jaded is using is definitely one of my fave graphics I've made. It turned out much prettier than I imagined ;D And I'm glad you still seem to like the Kurt avatar so much! hehe Ahem. Back on topic: since I can't actually make the video without the ripped DVD episodes, I figured I might try something with the TV episodes for now. More work, maybe, but at least I'll have an outline by the time they FINALLY release the DVD set! Lastly, I appreciate all the help people have given me with the quicktime movie Very sweet of you!

Thanks, E! ;D I didn't know they posted it already. I'm the first one! I even have my own "page" on their site blacklabworld.com/blw/pages/01e_thisnightvid.html.. now the competition knows what they need to improve on to win (By the way, the new promo has Lem in the casket -- figures that I had to get screen shots to use in my video, now I could have used it from the promo).
