[glow=red,2,300]The Shield executive producer Scott Rosenbaum answers fans’ questions.[/glow]
Maybe this is already old news ,but thought mention it
Thomas Lansen: What was with the "Bonus Episodes" commercials that were seen during FX’s Thief earlier this year?
Scott Rosenbaum: The Bonus Episodes are actually one episode. We shot a “webisode,” which will air on the Internet. The webisode takes place between the end of season 5 and the beginning of Season 6. It bridges the space between the two of them, from the time of Lem’s death to the beginning of the new season.
LisaLVSS: I have loved this show since the first episode. I have noticed that, deep down, Dutch is most likely a sicko. Will we ever learn what is really going on in his mind? Also, please stop killing off all of the hot guys. First Terry and now Lem! Thanks for such a stellar show.
Scott Rosenbaum: I’m not sure that Dutch is a “sicko” – rather a complex person who, at times, does some pretty odd and shocking things. Dutch is certainly a guy who’s not as straight-laced as he might otherwise appear; however, rest assured, he’s not a closet serial killer like many fans have wildly guessed. As for what’s going on in his mind, I think Season 7 will answer a lot of those questions. As for killing off the “hot guys” – well, I can’t promise anything. The truth is we always make decisions based on story and what will have the greatest emotional impact for the audience. Lem didn’t die because he was good looking; he died because the storylines we chose to tell became sort of a Shakespearean tragedy in many ways and Lemonhead’s character was caught in the vortex.
Buzz Harriel: My question is, will season six be aired sooner than the usual January airtime. I've been seeing promo for Season 6 with the words “coming soon” posted at the bottom. Are we being teased and tortured and still have to wait until January?
Scott Rosenbaum: Tough question to answer because to be quite frank, I don’t know. I’ve heard rumors that Season 6 will air in March of 2007 however nothing has been written in stone. It could air as early as December of 2006.
Chef Jeannine: I just wanted to know if Tayvon was coming back, or is he still in intensive care after Mara clocked him with the iron? I was surprised that it didn't come up last season.
Scott Rosenbaum: I don’t see Tayvon coming back. We feel we put that story to rest however I don’t want to completely throw the possibility out the window b/c we haven’t started beating out Season 7 yet and if the a story pops that includes Tayvon, there’s no reason we’d dismiss it.
Colin Blake: What model and caliber handgun does Vic use?
Scott Rosenbaum: I believe it’s a Smith & Wesson Model 4506-1 Pistol in .45 ACP.
Bill Johnson: This show is the greatest, kudos for all you guys who make it what it is. How do you guys come up with this all-star cast and what is it about an actor that makes you choose him or her to play a character?
Scott Rosenbaum: The credit for the original cast goes to Shawn Ryan, Scott Brazil, and the FX Network. Shawn and Scott picked the actors they felt were best for the roles, even though many of them were unknown and the network trusted them and let their casting choices come through. In regards to characters created after the pilot, it was again spearheaded by Shawn Ryan however when a writer would create a character, they’d often suggest an actor they thought would be good for the role – hence Glenn Close and Forest Whitaker to name two higher profile names.
Amy Bolton: I've been a fan of The Shield from day one. Michael Chiklis was born to play Vic Mackie. He's absolutely brilliant in that role. I can tell you that the local cops in Glendale, AZ are also hard-core fans. It's like Vic is on the force here. Anyhow, the music chosen for the show absolutely rocks. Are there any plans to release soundtracks? I'm sure they would be hot sellers. I'd love to listen to the music until the next season starts.
Scott Rosenbaum: We actually have a soundtrack. It was released last year. I believe you can get it on Amazon.com – it’s music from Season One.
