Wow, I thought this was the strongest ep of the season. At first, I was resistant to wanting Juan back in the mix; I thought he had done his thing w/ Aceveda and that was that. Now his grandmother and mother are gone and suddenly a picture surfaces? Aceveda told him to take him step-by-step of how he downloaded the picture to a computer or CD last season, and Juan couldn't do it - so is Aceveda just not calling his bluff? Not that I would, but gimme a break...this is the reason I was resistant to Juan coming back. But it's a means to an end as the confrontation between Rawlings/Vic and Aceveda at the end was well worth it, considering what's happening (the back door deal w/ the DEA, etc.).
Promo for season finale - again, I'm disappointed. For anyone who's been paying attention, we all know this is RAWLINGS last episode on the Shield, no one is going to die - but they clearly imply it by saying "this will be someone's last" episode!!

But it's a means to an end as the confrontation between Rawlings/Vic and Aceveda at the end was well worth it, considering what's happening (the back door deal w/ the DEA, etc.). I agree, this ep is at the top of my list for the season, or right up there. Someone visiting Juan could have explained the downloading process to him. Did Aceveda ever confiscate the actual camera (I don't remember)? If not, then all bets are off. I liked the rage Rawling flew into when she found out Aceveda brokered a deal with Antwon--that lady's got fire! I also got a kick out of the fight between Dutch and Billings. Billings definitely deserved what he got for laughing at Dutch after Dutch helped save his ass. You could tell Dutch was caught in the moment when he also chose Vic ... um, quit while you're ahead, Dutch boy. And then he turns down the home-cooked dinner invitation from Mrs. Cuddler Rapist? HUH?? DUTCH BOY! Dutch is a smart guy but maks one dumb decision after another. Maybe he has a square peg between his legs Aceveda is losing his marbles. You NEVER NEVER make a deal with the devil (Antwon), cuz the devil's gonna win EVERY TIME! He should've bargained with some unknown to shank Juan in jail. Ol' Ex-Capt'n Dave better get a bigger closet. The one he's got is getting crowded from the skeleton collection he's developing. His ex-ho ain't a dummy and I'm sure she didn't appreciate the humiliating cracks (no pun intended) that he diparaged her with . One more comment, Aurora looked pretty fine last night and so did Corrine. Did they get different dos or something? Aurora looked like she lost some weight. Maybe I'm just imagining things. I'll keep those imaginations to myself, heh.

I am going to spew my impressions before I read the other posts so far... I start to second guess myself when I do that, so bear with me if I (1) repeat something already said and (2) say something really dumb!! <---always a distinct possibility I give this ep an A plus. Every bit as good as Adam said it would be!! Dean White directed this one! I love his work. He gets back to the guerilla camera work that made the first season so much fun. And he has this way of making Vic/MC look so handsome! (I know, some of you don't see that at all...) His angles really work for everyone. I think Dean's direction brings out the very best potential in every scene. No matter what's been written, Dean brings it to life in a way that makes you completely forget it's television. I also marvel at his ability to level everyone out. Rank, actual physical height, gender... all meet on a level playing field under his direction. Impressions of the story itself. Shelving the seizure program already? I suppose that's possible, though as Rawling has said...the stats don't say anything yet about the success or failure of this program...and the program *is* working as leverage in solving crimes. But asking Rawling to draft the dept statement to the press about the program shutdown is a real slap in her face. They must really want her out of there. What in the hell do the higher-ups want then? At least Rawling was doing some good things and keeping Vic under control. Juan/Assinvader...does Assman really believe Juan has this pic somewhere? I seriously doubt it myself. Maybe he's trying to avoid the embarassment of the story even being revealed...but who would believe Juan? A's latino pride is getting the best of him again. I think I would have gambled on no pic and let Juan go down. Brokering deals with Antwon is stupid on his part...doesn't he realize Antwon is a brilliant guy? You can see on Antwon's face that he's going to check out Juan's story. Councilman Assinvader might be "licking daddy's balls" in the near future! (pardon the obscenity) Joanna Falks (sp?)... the stalker must have scared the accent right out of her, because I sure didn't hear it in this ep! I am guessing Dutch has been subconsciously avoiding her because she was married to a serial killer and didn't have a clue. I think he's too close to the killer psyche now to have an enabler in his life. Just before Joanna shoots Dani, I was thinking the chick must be dead. Maybe shot herself or was strung up in the backyard... the buzzing fly sounds tricked me! I am so glad the Shield team pays attention to the little things.... that made the shot all the more surprising, of course. Will this end Dani's career (freeing up Dent for other work?) Looks like the shot was an unfortunate lucky shot...just missed the top part of her vest and nicked her shoulder. In the real world, that would be a devastating injury for a street cop.... maybe the rumor that she would be going detective is true? Dutch and Billings going at it! I loved it, though there's no way to make a geek fight look serious. I was hoping Dutch would really lose it and start strangling Billings with his own ugly tie... but having Vic get wacked in the face was a great move. I heard someone say Vic's expression when Wyms yells at them was one of regret or sympathy toward Dutch. I don't believe that for a second. He just checked himself for losing sight of the immediate goal while relishing cop-on-cop violence. Even if we'll lose Rawling for next season, I think the writers have a dozen great archs to continue in S05. Think of the myriad of loose ends that can be addressed! Maybe the writers will relax and have more fun with it again, as they seemed to the first season. Maybe the pressure is off now to develop a major storyline around Glenn Close....not that the writing had to be so much better;(the writing has always been excellent) it just seemed they were writing around her character this year. ^^^^^^ god, what a windbag!! ^^^^^^^^
