Since getting our Roku player so we can watch NetFlix streaming video, I've gotten hooked on a couple of shows that I wouldn't otherwise have been able to see. One is Weeds. It airs on Showtime, to which I don't subscribe. Weeds is a "dramedy" about a woman who becomes a drug dealer after her husband dies. It is somewhat of a morality play in the sense that TS was--we see the lead character, played very well by Mary-Louise Parker, questioning herself as she sees her two sons getting dragged into her sordid world. One of my fave Hispanic actors, Guillermo Diaz, has a recurring role as a Lieutenant in a Mexican drug cartel. He also played gangbanger, Garza, in an early season of TS. www.imdb.com/name/nm0246585/Kevin Nealon has a regular role and is really funny in it. The show has very un-PC humor that you don't see on broadcast TV. Surely someone else has seen this show. What do you think of it?

Love it Chem, this is another on my must watch list, the later seasons aren't as good as the first couple, but still I keep watching.... Mary Louise Parker is spankalicious (literally) in this role!

That's cool that you have seen it, aussie. In what form, on TV, DVDs? How many of the seasons? We've seen all 5 and are waiting for S06 to be released.
Yeah, I agree it was better early on ... most shows are, aren't they? That's another way TS was so great: it didn't drop in quality in the later seasons.
How about the wacko characters in Weeds? Elizabeth Perkins sure does a good acting job being hateful in her character of Celia, doesn't she? Don't you just want to punch her?! Then there is her loser husband and then ex-, Dean. Poor Dean, getting punched first by Celia and then Silas a couple of episodes later, ha ha.
I saw Kevin Nealon on a late night talk show last week and his demeanor was just like Doug's, the character he plays on Weeds ... it cracked me up.

I've downloaded them all Chem, so I'm hanging out for season 6 as well. One of the local free to air channels here did actually air at least season 1. It is shown on cable as well, but I find it much easier to download and watch what I want when I want.... no ads.
They have some odd characters alright! They all crack me up. Shane's gone way creepy though, it will be interesting to see how far they go with his character.

A lot more so than "our" Shane, heh. The way he took out Pilaro --I didn't see that coming at all. Nice thing about watching the show on Roku (also commercial-free) is the ease with which we can skip the sex scenes (we being my daughter and me), of which there are a lot. With our DVR, which I also recently got (I still have my VCRs though! ), it's easy to go past where you want to stop. I know, the people of South Sudan are lucky they don't have to deal with these problems.
