(FROM HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) – FX has ordered 13 episodes of Sons of Anarchy, a new drama series from The Shield executive producer Kurt Sutter, FX Prods., and Fox 21. The show is about an outlaw motorcycle club's efforts to protect their California town from drug dealers and local corporate developers. The central characters are Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), a biker who loves his club but begins to grow uncomfortable with its lawlessness; his force-of-nature mother, played by Katey Sagal, who is married to Sutter; and Jax's stepfather, the club's president, who was played in the pilot by Scott Glenn, but the role will be recast. The new FX series was announced just after HBO started production on its biker series, titled 1%, which stars Donal Logue, W. Earl Brown, and Marisa Ryan. ''I'm not sure there is room for more than one motorcycle drama on television,'' Sutter said to Hollywood Reporter. ''But we will move on with what we're doing, and they will move on with what they're doing.'' (Hollywood Reporter) www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20196560,00.html

Well, it's time to get your BITCH ON, KATEY! You are lookin' in the taillights of HBO and HELL is comin' into town in the form of two biker gangs.
I have a feeling about one thing, though...Kurt Sutter's writing skills never seem to let a sister or brother down in any town! There will be no dust settling on a biker's rear view mirror until we see who gets the last laugh...
ME, the viewer! HA HA HA

SWEET! I knew he was doing this show, but I didn't know it would be on FX... Guess I'll have to keep my cable subscription after The Shield ends afterall.

I thought that I read somewhere that "Sons of Anarchy" is scheduled to premiere in Sept. I hope so, as it would be a good way to get The Shield viewers to watch Sutter's new project. I really hope it does well because it sounds like an interesting idea and with Sutter behind it you know it can't suck. I for one would be surprised if it did. Besides if FX is gonna keep dirt around, which is an awful show to say the least, then there is hope for sons of anarchy.

HERE is THE most important part of that article:
"We thank Art and John Linson for coming to FX with a great, untapped arena for a drama series," FX chief John Landgraf says. "Kurt Sutter took their notion and created a fiercely entertaining and authentic series. We think our viewers will welcome the Sons of Anarchy into their lives as they say farewell to 'The Shield' during its last great season."
FX is betting that all of us SHIELD fans will just mindlessly float into untapped Kurt Sutter written waters. Never take us for granted, FX chief Landgraf. We do love our "Shield" and the rest of our cable viewing lives after remains to be seen...
Thanx to Badcop for breaking this great APBS!

I have high hopes for this show, as well. I'd never heard of it until today, reading this thread. Sutter's name is all it takes to get me to tune in once.
Then again, it only took Glen Mazzara's name to get me to watch the premiere of Standoff. I watched the first Women's Murder Club with the same expectations.
And K-Ville for Anthony "Antwon Mitchell" Anderson's presence.
Wait...those shows all sucked.

Hey Badcop! Real Life can be a Real Bitch sometimes. Work is insane and that's pretty much all I've been doing. But I did a Season 6 rewatch last week and I really liked much more the second time around. After that, I went right into a Season 3 bit. I finished watching "Mum" at lunch today. Glad to see y'all are still here!

If I'm the only one who watched this show, shame on you guys! It's worth the ride, and the Pilot is a good stand-alone mini-movie, if you don't feel like making the investment of a full season. Kurt Sutter has three winners on his hands! The first is this great new episode of The Shield, which we all knew would kick ass. The second is Sons of Anarchy, which I'll be following all season long. The third is his wife, Katey Sagal, who absolutely owns Sons of Anarchy. She's given so much more to work with here than on LOST or The Shield. It's great material and she tears it up. I see a little of Lady MacBeth, a little Carmela Soprano, and a lot of Livia Soprano in her. Somehow even while wearing flannel, cleaning up a drug infested house and smoking a joint with her son, she manages to look classy. Every scene she's in gets better, culminating with a fantastic scene with Drea De Matteo toward the end of the episode. That's an Emmy Clip, and I'm not fooling around. If FX doesn't mount a "For Your Consideration" Campaign for Katey Sagal's performance in the Pilot alone, I'll be disappointed. Thumbs (and Mac-10s) up!
