Hello Y'all! I am a huge Shield fan. I have been watching since the start of Season 5, but since then I have become obsessed. I have bought all the DVD's, and have watched each episode several times.
1. How did you find out about "The Shield?"
A co-worker of mine kept telling me about it, kept telling me about it. I ignored him, brushed him off. I used to watch L&O, SVU on Tuesday nights, but when NBC carried the Olympics a few years back, I decided to give the shield a try. I am so happy I did!
2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most?
In a word, everything. It is intense, hilarious, dramatic. Each character brings a lot to the table. The plots are unreal, and Mackey is simply an amazing character.
3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join?
I found a site that seemed to have a ton of shield fanatics. i was sold right there!
4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means?
It is tough. you see a cop roughing up some rapist, or some drug dealer, i say do what you have to do to get the person behind bars. but what happens when you step on people's rights? I am not a cop, so it is hard to judge, but it is probably a pretty fine line. I am ok with most of what VM and the Strike team do.
5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable?
Yes, definitely. i am happy that the shield is only on late at night,. i have a young daughter, and i would hate to think of her watching this show or other similar ones. heck, chiklis does not let his daughter watch the show and she is in it.
6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like?
i used to like L&O, SVU, still watch the re-runs. i love 48 hours, dateline, american justice, not really a police show, but tons of investigations.
7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system?
not really.
8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey?
he is amazing. i saw an interview with kenny johnson and he said he thought that MC was a bad choice when he first heard it, but he saw him with a bald head, and said, yeah, this could work. he has a great voice, he stomps around, he exouds attitude, he is not afraid to tell his bosses off. he is tough but fair, most of the time. he can be the nicest guy in the world, turn the corner and be a huge jerk. chiklis does it all, and he does it amazingly well. the entire show is very well acted.
9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left?
no, i think the show would be dead with him gone. but shawn ryan and the crew are very smart, i am sure they would do it ok, but i could not see it.
10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law?
i don't know, i am a pretty boring guy, do not have a lot of run-ins with the law (knock wood). i am sure it is like any other job in the world. some are good, some are ok, some not so good.
11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system?
it is very flawed, but it is better than anything else. i hate BS defenses, i wish it was more black and white, i hate all the appeals, i hate seeing people get away with things. some of these criminals know the system so well, and they work it perfectly.
12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick?
I thought about it and decoysquad just came to my head. i figured it would have been taken, but it was not, so it stuck. i am sure i will think of a better one once i get going on the board, but i will be stick with decoysquad. i am happy to have found this site.[img src="[/img]"]
