Hey, Lemonhead. Glad you joined the group and thanks for telling us a little bit about yourself! If you would like our little welcoming gift, get in touch with CC (CHIKchick) and she'll take care of getting it to you. And, if you know other fans in Germany, even if they're not as big a fan as you , tell them they are welcome, too! We think it's great to be getting international fans as members!

Welcome, Lemonhead. I'm so glad you joined up and introduced yourself! Lem is one of my favorite characters! I love each member of the Strike Team with equal fervor..... I can't choose between them! Hey, one of our members, BigMamaKaboose (BMK) got to meet Kenny Johnson (Lem) at the screening of his new movie; you should check out her intro thread. Again, welcome, and I look forward to hearing your take on The Shield. E

Welcome, Lemonhead! We are happy to see another international fan!! I've been to Germany a couple of times; great country! Just so you know, any TheShieldRap contest you enter and prize you might win... will be mailed to you at our expense, regardless of postage. Some fansites don't let international fans play the contests because of the postage. Not here! ;D And if you'd like the new member welcome gift, send me a pm and I'll have it in the mail to Germany by the next morning... yeah!

Well, just discouvert those questions, and decided to answer them, so you have the chance to get some more information about me!
1. How did you find out about "The Shield?" -Saw a TV-Spot on a german channel during last years summerholidays. It was for the very first season/episode... later I loved that show, even though it was a flop here in Germany, which is REALLY sad!
2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most? -Cool Action. The dramaticle stuff is interesting and good is well, but my favorite scenes are such like Vic shooting Terry; the Armadillo scenes; Vic and the Strike Team beating up some a**hole drugdealers etc.
3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join? -I saw the link on the IMDB Messageboard and decided to take a look. -And I joined because I like to chat with other people, who have the same interest(s) like me! Especialy about The Shield!^^
4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means? -Hard to say... I think the Strike Team does cross the line sometimes, but most of the time, I'm on their site.
5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable? -Honestly I can't say too much to this, because tv in Germany is different to yours so it's hard for me to be that specific. But I think The Shield's contents are like they should be.
6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like? -I like Cold Case, CSI, Navy NCIS and Monk. But sometimes the cops are too "clean" and "good" and I think like: "How would Vic handle this?"^^
7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system? -Nope, not really.
8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey? -Well, I only know him from The Shield, so that is my first impression of him. But just a month ago I saw him in the movie "Do not Disturb". He looked so stupid to me lol.
9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left? -The show would go down! Defenitly! Cauz' he is the key to The Shield. I would continue watching it, but it wouldn't be The Shield anymore, it just would be "The Barn". Best replacement for Michael Chiklis would be -phew- maybe someone famous like George Clooney^^;... I honestly don't know!
10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law? -I think there are a lot of corrupt cops! But they are not as the Strike Team! The ST is brutal to criminals but they would never harm someone innocent and do (almost) everytime something good with their actions. In real life, I think, most of the corrupt cops are only thinking about themselves.
11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system? -There are many ways to save your ass, if you are guilty^^ which can be either good or bad.
12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? ) -I think in my case it's pretty obvious!
So, I did my best with answering those questions! Feel free to give a comment! I'll answer^^ So see ya around!

What season has played in Germany so far, Lem? Why do you suppose it isn't as popular as some of the other American programs carried there? Like you, my first exposure to Michael Chiklis was on The Shield and I fell IN LOVE! Well, in a twisted sort of way... then I saw him on The Commish (dvd) and I was very disturbed by this! It was like catching your father in a dress....rather sickening. Or something like that! Just not right, in other words!! And, like you, I have a hard time watching other cop shows without thinking, "Come on...where's Vic?? He'd solve this!" In fact, I don't watch any other police/crime dramas for this very reason!

Without Chiklis, I think The Shield would go down -- in flames! Vic is the core of the show imho; I don't think it could make it without him.

What season has played in Germany so far, Lem? Why do you suppose it isn't as popular as some of the other American programs carried there? Well, first of all, only the first season aired here, and that's now more than a year ago. The channel made no commercials for it, except the one for the first episode. They brought it in the middle of the night on wednesdays and that in the middle of the summerholidays, I mean, come on! You can't handle such a good show like this! And with no one knowing that show exists, you can't expect much viewers! And because of that, they stopped airing it... so sad. But a week ago they brought out the first season on DVD. I bought it, and if lots of other people as well, they may continue airing or at least they bring all seasons on DVD. Usually they start new TV-shows in fall or spring and make LOTS of commercials! The same channel that used to bring The Shield makes every five minutes commercials for "Lost" and "Desperate Houswives"! So that's the sad story of The Shield overhere in Germany!

Yeah, like I was telling CC and E, I just got an email TODAY from Amazon saying S01 and S02 DVDs of The Shield are 25% off. I bought S03 at Amazon--computers might crash, but they never forget. Shipping to Germany might cost you a few more bucks (wait, make that Deutsch Marks ... or I guess it's Euros now?) but money well spent, yes? I'm assuming you can shop Amazon in Germany, but don't really know. Can you?

The next day when episode 1x13 ended, I started downloading season 2... and so on. Watched all seasons so far thanks to overnet and bittorrent. But, when they'll come to Germany on DVD (and I hope they will^^ I'll buy them. Cauz' the bonusmaterial is awesome (audiocomments and so on). Then I'll spend my Euros with pleasure! And since you mensioned chemikalman, everything was cheaper when we had our Deutsche Mark!

Heckfire! Talk about whatever you want to talk about here!! I'm glad you've been able to see all 4 seasons!!
The commentaries are really great on the DVDs. Between those and the deleted scenes, we get some more insight into the directors' and Shawn Ryan's vision for the show.
There is also a 'mini-documentary' on the S2 & S3 extras; pretty dang cool!!

Cool! I'm really looking foreward to that! The extra stuff on the season 1 DVD was pretty cool so far aswell. That making-off and the castingtapes rocked and I haven't seen all commentaries, yet, but so far, I love them! They have lots of interesting information in it! Man, I love The Shield!!

On some fansites, one in particular, even whispering the word "download" will get you incinerated! I don't think Chemikalman (or any of his "Queen Bitches" ) are so mean. It would be interesting to know what the Rap policy is on this subject, though. The S03 documentary really lends insight into the creative processes behind each episode. You'll see a lot of faces with familiar names around here like Glen Mazzara, Adam Fierro, Scott Rosenbaum and the big Shawn Ryan himself! I think it stuffs a sock in the flapping mouths of those fans who believe they can sit back and criticize what these talented people are doing for us.
