From pifeedback.com
The Shield (FX) - 2.154 million viewers - 1.4/2 HH - 1.1/3 A18-49
A little better than last week. I guess the promo reeled in a few viewers!

Probably even more so now that the show is so far into its existence, but what Chiklis said in the S5 DVD panel discussion stuck out to me when I read this. While ratings are important to an extent, they are not gold because, as he stated, they don't take into account things such as entire dorm floors gathering, co-workers, Cops not on shift getting together and all the other type of Shield watching parties. Things like that say volumes about any show.

I know this is a little off topic but this post made me realize that the season is half-way over

Little better ratings, I can't believe it is halfway over. We'll be On the Jones for a year after this. I hope they don't want 40+ bucks for Season 6 dvds.

I blame the extreme lack of marketing for The Shield's tanking ratings. The first 5 seasons had some pretty heavy prk I also think, depsite it being a shock ending, some people actually stopped watching after Lem's death, maybe or maybe not. Not that I generally care about ratings anyhow, it's just sad to see a great show not being watched by more people. But no, that doesn't take away from it. Hell, Stanley Kubrick is recognized as one of the greatest directors of all time (several - directors themselves included - do conisder him the greatest), yet none of his films ever did blockbuster or barely made all that much money at all, actually. Yet, out of 12 (13? I think 12...) films his entire career, 8 of them are well-known classics.
I do think, however, that FX will get off their asses and prmote the 7th and final season right, in a way that will draw in alot of interested people. Plus, as great as I think Season 6 is, I do admit it feels a bit "off" in some way or another.

you have to consider also that many viewers of the shield are disappointed about how fx treated the show last year,so they would nt bother to watch this season by alternative european paths.they rip what they sow.
