No no no. Hell no. Are you serious?
Americans get 'The Shield' first.
We UK folks have to wait another four or five months for it.
I'm picking downloading... my patience has run thin.

I also don't want to see references to downloading eps except in rare cases when it can't be avoided AND the person states that they will buy the legit product when it becomes available. Well, here in Greece the Shield is only on Season 3 and it airs on a satellite channel that I subscribe to, anyway. So, I admit to downloading the episodes. Sorry.

^ Yeah, but do you people plan on actually buying seasons or burning off the episodes? theres a HUGE difference
and living in another country is no excuse to do that (burning off) you can purchase the seasons online the legit way or places like itunes

Guys guys, Chem specifically said, and I quote "...I don't want to see any references to downloading..." y'all quoted him saying it yourselves, then you straight up say you'll be downloading.... which part of "don't reference downloading" wasn't understood?
I'll be buying the dvds whenever they come out for sure.

I know the person above said no more referencing to downloading *and I promise this is my last post on it*, but:
See if you lived in the UK and had to put up with the shitty coverage of 'The Shield' for being late, having ad breaks EVERYWHERE and showing rarely... you'd want to download too. I WILL eventually buy Season 5 and Season 6 but seeing as I'm broke, no way. Unless you live outside the U.S and therefore get the shows on time and when they're promised, you don't understand how frustrating it becomes when your a huge fan of the show.

That's the kind of "rare case" I was referring to, but still think it should only be done if someone knows they will buy the DVD set eventually or at least watch it via their regular means. yeah, aussie! I take care of my bitches and my bitches take care of me. ;D

Yeah. Well said. I do watch it in the UK anyway when it comes... it's just so goddamn frustrating, especially with the big breaks.
The same could be said about South Park; you can only really download them as they aren't shown on normal TV in the UK and it takes ages for the new season to get to the UK on cable/pay tv. It sucks. For some cases, downloading is justified.

Get a clue, kiddo. Watching 75% of a show's episodes counts for plenty. I have the first three seasons on DVD and if I had HBO, I would have seen season four. I gave my opinion, I didn't "ignorantly dis" anything. I explicitly stated I was only comparing the first three seasons, but you went hysterical because someone didn't share your opinion. Don't mistake your fanatical opinion with objective fact. Grow up and learn to communicate with adults. Also, posting what you did in a thread entitled "COUNTDOWN TO ECSTASY" is pretty much being a troll. Seriously, could you be any less mature? What, should a person only judge a show after everything has aired? I mean, you haven't seen season six of the Shield, so how can you really judge? And you shouldn't have an opinion on The Wire either since season five is in the works. Do you see how stupid that kind of thinking is? It doesn't matter if the next season of any show is completely awesome or terrible, it doesn't change a single scene of what came before. Even if season four of The Wire is the most emotionally gripping season I've ever seen, it wouldn't change my opinion of how the first THREE seasons compared to the first FIVE of the Shield. How is all this so difficult for you to comprehend? It's people like you that lame up the boads on IMDB with the countless The Shield versus The Wire comparison threads because you can't understand the difference between opinion and fact. This lack of basic understanding of human interaction really floors me. ==================================== As far as I'm concerned, this is stepping over the line, stealingjoy. What Dan said was terse, but he certainly didn't deserve a 3 paragraph essay on stupidity. This debate is officially closed. Any more posts on this topic in this thread and I will delete ALL off topic comments in this thread. -E WHITE FLAG
First, I am not even going to wage a discussion on "opinion & fact" controversy, I do not see the point. I am open to sliding any THE WIRE discussion over to the thread I started quite a while ago in the appropriate forum.
Second, I apologize for making an ignorant "noob" reference, that was a tad too hot-headed of me. I did not bring up THE WIRE as a thread-hijacking or "trolling" method, everyone here knows I've been selling and promoting the show as an additional, meaningful, and worthy peer to THE SHIELD. I do not see it as a fight over "Which one is better", rather, I see it more as a discussion of what makes both these shows work and pack a superb emotional punch.
However, I am not sure if my small comment required such a flame. Finally, I am not sure if it is necessary to mention that I am one of, if not the, leading contributor to TSR that is a non-administrator, and have been doing so for years.
I welcome all THE WIRE and THE SHIELD discussion and apologize the sole comment.
Dan
Well, that explains why your original comment didn't get an off-topic comment by E. Yay for cronyism? I guess a person can't get away from it anywhere. Personally, I don't read any off the off-topic/side forums, so I've never read your Wire threads, so I think it's unfair to assume everyone would know your background before you made that comment. I apologize for going so far in my response, especially with some of the derogatory comments. Your response struck me as very illogical/irrational and unnecessarily biased. Especially when I consider The Wire my second favorite television show of all time, just a hair behind The Shield. The irony is that I tell people all the time to watch both of these shows, which you apparently do for The Wire.

Nickmackey, I hear ya, in aussieland we had season 4 about 18 months ago, they started airing s5 back in feb late on a sunday night, but stopped at about ep 4 or 5, with no mention of why, or when or even if it will be back.... lucky I have the dvds to fall back on!
Our cable tv is also up to mid s3.
Maybe Chem could set up a webcam over his shoulder while he's watching and stream straight to us, now that would be awesome, heck it might be slow and really poor quality and we'd probably barely be able to make out the characters, let alone the dialog and we'd be interrupting Chem every 5 seconds asking what was just said, or who that guy was, was it Ronnie or was it the new guy.... but it'd be worth it to see it first hand! .... wouldn't it??!!
Muahaha. ;D
Whats the countdown folks on the east coast??

What's sad about that promo kit thing being sold is that someone who was likely thought of as trustworthy (family, friends, reviewers, etc) is turning it for a profit. I'm sure they're not doing it at cost.

...Ohhhh....downloading...burning movies...MPAA, RIAA...I...LOVE ALL OF IT!!
Here's my thought: content has become so crappy, the radio dial so wasted with junk, the television filled up with fat white guys married to smoking hot anorexic women, so completely horrible that I am willing to "test" what I watch and listen to, and buy only the good.
Ever heard the PC WORLD editor guy that spent an entire year without cable; instead he bought content (legally) off iTunes (such as LOST), caught it on DVD, or just entirely missed it for a year? He saved hundreds of dollars and stopped watching horrible programming. I wish I could do this. I foresee the future of television becoming a type of a la carte; essentially, this is what P2P and the like have become. I could survive with FX, HBO, and ESPN. The rest of my content I could get elsewhere or drop it in its entirety.

I accept your apology, white flags around, let's just move on and join me in the THE WIRE thread a few times for some discussion. I have just begun reading THE CORNER by David Simon and Edward Burns, a precursor (and side project on HBO mini-series a few years back), you should check it out.

I love the Ding Dong comment Dan! Personally I eat whatever I have....I'm in college and so whatever food I find is what I eat. Last year when I was home I ate popcorn, goldfish and chocolate chip cookies!
This should be a poll question (What do you eat while watching The Shield"
