As I sit here writing a paper for class I realized something really disturbing--I am no longer angry with Shane. Shane has made me furious time after time. He lost the coke, he fooled around with Antwon and got the girl killed, and he killed my second favorite character on the show, Lem. There are countless other mistakes as well. The sad thing is Lem covered for those mistakes. He covered for Shane when he told Tavon he hit Mara. He also stole the tar in search of the body. Lem covered shane. And shane covered himself by killing Lem. Hideous and sad.
But for some reason I just can't stay mad with Shane. I know I will be pissed with him later because of Lem. But can any of you relate?

In thinking back on the past few seasons, I came to another disgusting realization: Lem's burning the Money Train cash really helped the Strike Team's cause when Kavanaugh started sniffing around their finances. In doing that, he put his entire friendship with these guys on the line, no matter how painful. He took the hit and risked ostracizing himself to protect everyone. It's another plateau of painful irony this story has reached.
Ever since Tuesday, I've been wanting to revisit some of the older Seasons, maybe pick up Season 2 and blast through it, maybe check out some of Season 3. I just haven't been able to.
I settled for the 'Under The Skin' documentary on the Season 4 DVD set. I'd never watched it before until today, but it's terribly sad to watch with the context of a complete Season 5 behind us. To watch interviews with Kenny is rough.
There was an excerpt of the scene where Shane stated his intentions of Killing Antwon to the team and Lem says to him, "It's the first good thing you've done in a long time." That damned near made me tear up again.
Also, watching Walton prepare for that scene with Scott Brazil was weird: Brazil is telling him that he had to play it like he hadn't killed anyone before, and it was visibly affecting Shane (he was in character).
Seeing that scene with Antwon infuriated me. Shane couldn't bring himself to kill Antwon Mitchell but he could kill one of his closest friends? Dammit!

I think the reason he was acting like that with Antwon was because he knew he was going to prison if he killed him. But I get where your coming from with it.
