That regardless of how the IAD investigation turns out, they are still trying to force Vic into early retirement. If IAD fail to bring a case, the chief still want him gone via retirement.
Can they really force him out? They really can't make him retire can they? He is a union cop.

I havent forgotten I posted a speulation on this yesterday in the upcoming episodes/speculations thread. Obviously, they cant 'force' him out as in firing him. What they can to is tell him that they want him gone 'voluntarily' via the forced retirement thing. The message is clear: either take this offer or we'll axe you the first chance we get. And with Vic, that isnt going to be too hard.

What about the money train too. Dutch did mention to Kav that he thought Vic ripped off the money train. We never really heard much more past that. I wonder what proof if any Dutch had to pass along.

In "Smoked," Kavanaugh mentioned to Corrine that in addition to the 65K, it "looks like there's a whole lot more," so I think that MT thing is still on Kav's radar.

THere may be more, but sounds like shane is spending his on the house, Ronnies is well hidden, and VIc gave his to Corrine. My question is what ever happened to the "retirement" plan. Was that money mixed in with the Moneytrain monies that Lem burned or was that kept separate. I thought Vic, Ronnie and Shane all got 65K each after what lem burned. How is shane affording a $600K house? I wish we all know just how much money was left after the MT deal.

I wonder why no one on screen has said to Vic, "Retire and we'll drop the IAD investigation." It would seem a logical step.

Good question; I've wonderered the exact same thing. I remember that after Lem burnt the money there was $195,000 left, that's $65,000 three ways. The retirement fund was never mentioned again, so one would have to assume that at some point they put that money together with the money train cash. However, its never been stated one way or the other what they did with the retirement fund, so perhaps it's in a seperate place. Who knows?

I found some info about the retirement fund here: www.foxhome.com/theshield/home.html. Under "The Story" it says that Shane was in charge of the money, which was $350K. He lost it all when he tried to triple it by buying drugs, which turned out to be poisoned. Dang it Shane! Does anyone remember this storyline?

Yes! I remember that shit.....
Vic: "What the hell are you doing?" Shane: "I'm not doing anything that we weren't doing before -- I'm just bumping things up a level." Vic: "And what level is that? PRISON?!" [pause] Vic: "All right, where's my investment now?" Shane: "It's all tied up in the coke shipment." Vic: "That coke that had Tio's guy bleeding from every orifice?"
Yeah, Vic needed that money to give the PI who was looking for his kids in Season 2.

Didn't they get some (or all) of it back when they went to Tijuana looking for Navarro Quintero? Vic tacked on the $50,000 he needed for the PI "for ruining my day." Then again, did they lose any money when Tio's place was torched?

I think so. But I didn't see the episode - I can only tell from the episode description on the foxhome website. I figure between Shane screwing up and Vic paying the private investigator, they didn't have a whole lot left.
I've got to go rent season 1-3!

Well after been watching season 2 dvd set over three or four times and yet to get bored of it this is what we know: Shane spent all the 'original' retirement fund on increasing Tio's drug shipments. Tio ended getting torched and assuming his whole coke shipment was bad with Armillo establishing his drug monopoly, the worst case scenario we'll just assume the 'original' retirement fund went completely to waste.
HOWEVER, Vic and the strike team did head to Tijuana and kidnapped a mexican drug lord (Navarro) and collected a nice ransom of 350,000-450,000 (can't remember exact amount) . What they then did with the "second" retirement fund is anyone's guess but it may still be a possibility that's it's stashed somewhere safe.
In regards to the money train, Lem burnt most of it in which Vic, Shane and Ronnie split it up three ways which was around 65k. Vic gave all his money train share to his wife, Shane most likely used it to put a deposit on his house, Ronnie we have no idea what he did with his.

No, I think Shane and Mara use their incomes to pay for their property and bills... Remember, Kav said t's all accounted for except the "day-to-day expenses of people living." Shane's been spending his cash on the incidentals of daily life... diapers, food, clothes, etc.
