A friend pointed out something to me that i didn't quite catch at the time but remember now that he mentioned it. When vic was walking Kavanaugh thru Terry's shooting and Vic had the confrontation with Terry's brother, the brother said to Vic something like "god will punish you if i have to deliver you to him myself"
A little foreshadowing perhaps??

Not going to happen. I think even with the series ending he is the one character who would not die.

I agree, they'll throw his ass in prison before they kill him.

Vic should have killed Terry's brother right there and then on general principle. "If you killed him, God will knoooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" Could they have made him a more whiny-ass runt?

Agreed Cletus.
I personally would be very upset with the choice of killing Vic off. I would rather see Lem die in prison...and Vic have to live with that on his conscious. Vic is that Alpha-Male type who isn't supposed to show emotions...which is why it's so amazing when we actually get to experience his true feelings. What better conclusion than to have to see Vic live with his past transgressions being manifested into something terrible?

I think we see Vics emotins quite a bit, all being most of the times it is a mad emotin, but there are the times where he is hurt like the last epsiode of season 1 when Corrine took the kids and left.

I will be sooo pissed off if they kill Vic. Send him to prison or better yet, let him retire with his conscience.

Vic getting killed? My thoughts have always been this: A show like the Shield was made to have an ending like that. Personally I would love to see a grand death for Vic, because it would complete his story. I would rather see the end of Vic, then to have a "alone with his concience" type of open ending. He is not going to sit around regretting everything he has ever done. He has proven that he can make peace with his conscience. Also he is too resourceful to ever end up in jail. He would flee. I think if he becomes a fugitive, it would be interesting, but I would rather see him go down in a blaze of glory.

Drew Crowley certainly said that for a reason. I think there is a possibility that more will come of that vow he made to "deliver" Vic to God. I love where this series has gone this season, its unbelieveable and certainly the best season, but to leave Terry's murder out of the mix since the 1st season, then have the situation resolve itself and end up back where it was, would disapoint me. I would like Vic to face what he did in some way. Even if he admits it to Ronnie, or Corrine or something, I would like to see this season end with this investigation of Terry's death having a permanant effect on Vic

Vic's death....Not gonna happen any time soon.
Of course, in season 1, did we know that Margos would turn into some foot-chopping psychopath when he kept staring at Danny's feet?

thats so true! never expected margos to show later. ive thought about the whole thing with terry's bro comin back to tie some loose ends with vic. i think that when vic confronts shane on killin lem, when he confess's (if), vic will arrest him. but then shane will start threatening to take vic down with him if he tells anyone. vic, with all this rage, will eventually have to kill shane. remember, there is another season after 5b. but i would love to see shane's ending, with him walkin into folsom's prison yard. life in prison. then the next season can sorta show some of shanes fight within the prison walls bein a cop an all. then, eventually leads to death in prison. by someone vic has do it.

This show started with Terry's Death and it will end somehow with it. I agree, I can't see Vic getting wacked, but the ending will do with Terry's death. They do bring it up in every season.

I don't think there's a chance in Hadies (sp?) that Vic gets whacked. He might not come out completely on top and could very well end in a very tormented and sad state. He IS this show, period. If in fact that very small percentage of a chance does happen, it will be something big and will be the most talked about subject of the show's history.

after watching the S5 dvds I have an observation - I agree, I don't think there's any way Vic will get killed - by the same token I think Shane will somehow survive too - but Ronnie (and obviously Lem), that's a different story - and here's my theory - Vic and Shane are both fathers with the Shane the father of a very young child - to be honest, I can't see SR and crew creating orphans out of the ST children - the whole storyline with Shane's kid (Jackson) was pretty much tabled for all of S5 but we know Mara will return and that means the baby will turn up too - the one thing that links Vic and Shane together is the murder of Terry and while you can try and rationalize it as 'Terry was rat' no jury is gonna see it that way so those two are beholden to each other - Lem didn't know the whole Terry story plus he had no family so he was essentially an easy character to remove and there would be no emotional baggage outside the ST - now, taking this a step further, Ronnie is pretty much in the same boat - Ronnie finds out about Terry and that pretty much makes him expendable to in my eyes because no matter what Vic thinks when he finds out what Shane did, I really believe that, deep down, he was wary of Lem and wasn't al that unhappy Lem is gone - and when push comes to shove, I think Ronnie is on the chopping block too - Ronnie being Ronnie will figure things out and will start looking out for himself which will only increase his expendability - I have no theory on what will happen to Vic and Shane in the end (jail, perhaps - a fate really worse than death for those two) but they will be left standing
in my eyes only three things change my theory:
if Corrine kills Vic or Mara kills Shane if Vic's daughter kills Vic (and there is an upcoming episode where she finds out more than she wanted to know) if Jackson somehow dies then Shane is toast

I don't know if Vic will die but to have him get away with everything would be a total cop out. Same with Shane. Both of them have to pay for what they did in one form or another since the main theme of the show is the way the secrets and sins of the Strike Team come out to haunt them and how the consequences of their choices do so as well. To not have that happen when it matters would be a massive cheat.

I think all the points you make, jwc, are pretty much right-on except I think if Vic knows he's going to prison he'd eat his gun. The worst possible thing for Vic would be going to prison. He won't allow it to happen. He himself would run to Mexico, kill himself, fend off the authorities, whatever it took. He's not going to prison, as long as he can help it at least.
Many people have thought Shane would be a goner. There's just something about him, throughout the course of the series. He's too darned reckless, he's too unhinged and he's been saved so many times by Vic... I think Shane will one day get killed. I have absolutely no clue as to how or why--and I don't know how Vic will react when he eventually learns the truth regarding Shane's killing of Lem. But, I just can't see Shane escaping this series with his life. It'll be interesting to see what happens...

If Vic dies, I hope it's a better death than being killed by a guy who has had exactly 1 minute of screen time. I don't mind if he dies, but I hope it's more creative than Terry's brother murdering him.
