It was interesting how Kavanaugh just caved when Aceveda threatened to investigate him. He may have tried to spin it around via the whole 'let work together' angle, but the truth is that Aceveda is right and Kavanaugh knows it. In 7 months Kavanaugh's all-powerful investigation has come up with jack shit. He hasnt managed to get the members of the ST to turn on each other and he hanst managed to get worthwhile dirt on anybody.
Kavanaugh knows that his free reign can only last for so long...

Agreed. Now we'll see just how far Kavanaugh is willing to go to close the books on this case. The deal with Antwon is just a start I have a feeling. And that comment he made about how he used to feel like he had to do things by the book...
We could be in for something even bigger than the Antwon deal.

You gotta think that Kav has done something way fucked up in his past. It's just a matter of time before it comes to light. Will he have the smarts to wrap up his investigation before it could bite him in the ass, I don't think so...

I'm with Rick. There's something in Kavanaugh's past that extends beyond his wife's schizophrenia/depression. I wonder what it is and if we'll see it before the season hiatus.

I am willig to bet that Kav's secret past has to do with he use to be a bad cop. Then got busted by IAD and forced to work for the rat squad, rather than resign. Just a guess.

One of the personalities inside Sadie's head might know something....

Remember a while back way in the beginning...we heard a whisper about how KAV snitched his own partner out. I think he probably did it to shut his partner up. AND I don't think we are going to know the full extent of it this part of the season. The most we may see if anything is a glimpse or a teaser. What else would you expect from "The Shield". YOU ARE GOING TO BE LEFT WITH A CLIFFHANGER, PEOPLE!!!

Actually, the Shield isnt big on cliffhangers in the traditional sense of the word. Pretty much every season ended in a self contained manner, with the possible exception of season 3 (Vic and Shane's falling out). Besides, Shawn Ryan said that the mid season finale will feel like the end of the series, but that fans should not worry becuase 10 more episodes will follow. To me, that means closure at some level.

One of the personalities inside Sadie's head might know something.... I agree with that, IF Kav has something in the past that can hurt him, Sadie i think would definetly be the one to let it out in the open. As for cliffhangers, I agree with Cletus The Shield doesnt have that big of ones as compared to maybe Nip/Tick at the end of season2 when Troy was attacked. As well as lost with the damn hatch at the end on season 1, that drove me crazy.

I hate cliffhangers, and I've never hated an episode of The Shield. I did knock Nip/Tuck to "appetizer for The Shield" status after seeing that Season 2 cliffhanger. There should be a rule against ending a whole season like that. But anyway, just about every Shield episode had a little balance. Stuff to consider next episode with enough resolution in the current one. I don't expect this season finale to be any different.
