Thanks for the heads up, man!! This is pretty cool. I can see her as a hard-nosed bitch prosecutor or a soft-hearted defense atty.... yes, those do exist. ======================================= From Yahoo!News: Harring inks for role on 'Shield'By Kimberly Speight Fri Oct 21, 3:00 AM ETLOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Laura Harring has moved from "Mulholland Drive" to the LAPD. The actress is joining FX's "The Shield" in a recurring role for the police drama's upcoming fifth season. Harring will take on the role of attorney Becca Doyle opposite series star Michael Chiklis. Forest Whitaker recently signed on as a series regular, playing a detective in the Los Angeles Police Department's Internal Affairs division. "Shield," from series creator and executive producer Shawn Ryan, went into production last month on its fifth season, which premieres next year. Upcoming big-screen projects for Harring, who starred opposite Naomi Watts in David Lynch's 2001 film "Mulholland Drive," include the Southern-set drama "The King," with William Hurt and Gael Garcia Bernal, which ThinkFilm will release next year. On the TV side, her credits include the upcoming Edward James Olmos-directed HBO movie "Walkout." Do you guys suppose this means we'll see more of the court/prosecution side of things in S5? Or will it just be more of the "DA pops into the Barn to harass Claudette" kind of stuff? I would be interested to see more on the progress of cases. Don't cops have to go testify in court all the time? (care to chime in on this Copperhead?) We never see the Strike Team guys do that. Maybe because its out of character with the gritty-action feel of the show? I think it would be cool to see Vic and the boys in a courtroom setting occasionally. Even moreso if they perjure themselves now and then too, as bad boys are bound to do.... p.s. On another completely different note: given the abundance of eye-candy already available on the show for us girls, it seems only fair that they added Laura Harring so that the guys have more than just Danny to admire...

I think the lawyer's role will probably be tied to the IAD storyline that's currently brewing. However I doubt we'll see a long, epic courtroom battle. The show's fast pace nature doesn't really lend itself to long courtroom scenes. In fact I don't think there has ever been a courtroom scene in the four seasons the show has been on.
I think it would be interesting to see how Vic and the rest of the boys operate in the courtroom. It would be one of the few areas where they would be under the most scrutiny, where they would have to watch the way they act when testifying (truthfully or otherwise) Though such a situation would be more of a one time thing I don't think the writers should make a habit out of it.

Actually, I hope they have atleast some court scenes this season. I love anything having to do with law ( I even sit in courts sometimes to watch trials.) It would be like an interogation scene, which is practicly pure acting. Always fun to watch.

Laura Harring ("Mulholland Dr.") will join FX's police drama "The Shield" in the recurring role of defense attorney Becca Doyle.
She will appear in nine episodes when the fifth season launches in January.
In the story line, Michael Chiklis' Detective Vic Mackey enlists Doyle to protect his Strike Team from an Internal Affairs investigation headed by new cast member Forest Whitaker.
- Cheryl Hines, who plays Larry David's long-suffering spouse on HBO's Sunday night sitcom "Curb Your Enthusiasm," will guest-star on an upcoming episode of NBC's "Scrubs." No air date has been announced.
As Paige Cox, the devoutly religious sister of Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley), she comes into town for the baptism of his son.

Oh boy - she's gonna be the Strike Team's attorney?! Of course, Shane is gong to go nuts over her, but I'll bet she takes a liking to Ronnie!! Oh, the potential.....

I really like this thread. Not just for the eye candy--the pic of Laura in the necklace ... OMG! ... what a beautiful necklace! heh heh. ;D It even got "fuji" out of hibernation!
The thread also brings out some very interesting storyline possibilities.
Since I haven't seen too many new member Qs for Glen lately (hint, hint), I think I'll see what I can find out about the Laura Harring character and if it means some courtroom scenes.
Since I am also a Law and Order Junkie (funny how the ADAs always just happened to be gorgeous, isn't it?), I would love to see The Shield go in that direction and am curious how they would do it. It certainly would seem to be one way of adding a new element or twist to the show, thereby keeping it from getting repetetive.
The posts include insightful questions and observations on how courtroom scenes would provide interest as well as challenges.
I'm really impressed with the quality of our members.

I was personally glad to see she was on the ST's side! They are going to need all the help they can get. Looks like they have Lem dead to rights (from last season).
