Ooooh! How anally retentive! I just love it! I notice things like that all the time. My 14 yr. old notices it, too. The other day we were watching the original "Blues Brothers" (God, I love that movie) and she noticed after the building Elwood lived in was blown up and collapsed on them, their black suits were filthy and covered in dirt and brick dust. They left in their car, and when they arrived at their destination their suits looked like they'd just been cleaned and pressed. ~sigh~ I miss John Belushi. Bailey THATS THE JOKE.

I usually don't complain much about The Shield (bc its always so good!), but the fight with Forest Whitaker was a little bit weak. . . to use someone else's words I can't remember. At first, I was very extremely satisfied with the season and its finale. However, the more and more I think about the fight, and Vic's reaction to Lem's death, the more I wish something bigger happened. I remember one of the most exciting, gut wrenching, mouth dropping scenes was the famous Armadillo stove incident. Vic went over the edge because of his wife leaving, getting thrown onto some trash cans by her PI, and then Teo getting burned alive. I think that with the IAD investigation, Whitaker, Antwon threatening Lem's life, and all of the conflicts of this season would build up to even being a bigger explosion of anger, sadness, etc. I do remember after Teo was burned Vic had that look in his eye of furiosity, and I saw a little glimpse of it when he was looking at Lem's body, and when he made the comment of killing whoever murdered Lem, but I thought his immediate reaction could have been stronger. I also see the flip side though, of just him trying to absorb that Lem is actually dead, and that him walking away will lead him to some ass kicking the likes we haven't even seen yet, and I hope that is to come. But maybe, just maybe I still wish his reaction would have been a little more vibrant than what actually happened.

I got a nitpick for ep.10 'Of mice and Lem". I thought the same thing. They did several things during their cleanup of the scene that I thought a moderately competent detective would have noticed. Heh...they must have assumed Billings would catch the case. I wouldn't describe him as moderately competent.

Still, Vic had nothing better to do at that point other than cry, I guess. There was no one to burn or blame for Lem's death at that time.

One, he was feeling a mixture of emotions and with everyone standing around watching, I am sure his emotions were fighting each other on what was going to take over. The actual fight was very realistic. That is how a lot of fights go down in the real world...a lot of tussling and trying to punch each other, but not much happening.... seemed real to me (even though I would have liked to see one or the other being beaten to a bloody pulp!)... PC I also thought Vic's reaction to seeing Lem was on the mark. He was totally shocked and in disbelief when he looked into the car. Then rage started to build along with thoughts of vengence. As far as the fight scene, the first thing that came to my mind was a baseball game when a batter charges the pitcher after getting hit by a pitch or brushed back too close to his head ... the two players usually do end up just like the fight between Vic and Kav, a lot of tustling and grabbing but rarely any punches landed. But, personacop, what do you mean "one or the other"? Ha ha. I so wanted Vic to break the mother-f*ckers jaw. In fact I never hated Kav more than that moment when he had the balls to say that to Vic.--hey, just got an idea for a new thread or, better yet, a poll: Kavanaugh's most hated moment.

Why didn't Shane have a tail near the end of Postpartum? He was the only other member of the ST present when Terry was killed. Plus he had a ton of negative history. So, if they really couldn't spare another cop (as I was told was obvious, but still don't buy), then let Ronnie go, for chrissakes, and save the tail for Shane!

Ok, now Im here in the nitpickers thread! Ok, I have only seen the episode once so correct me if Im wrong. They left to follow Vic and Ronnie because they were leaving at the time. Shane hadn't left the building yet, and they weren't sure where he was. After they left to follow both Vic and Ronnie, Shane exited the building in a shady manner. I think Shane would have been a priority over Ronnie, but keep in mind they needed to follow Vic and Ronnie because they were leaving to do "the deed" as Kav suspected.

Here are my problems with the finale:
Why did Lem think that he could "admit" that he ripped the Money Train off single handedly?
He knows very well that Troikien came into the barn as a witness, and would have said that four guys did the job. He could say that it was him and three other non-ST guys, but he also knows that Troikien would talk about "coincidentally" bumping into him and Shane on the day of the heist, making it obvious that Vic, Ronnie and Shane were the other three.
Also, he would have been pleading to murder, since Troikien pinned the murders that he set up at the site on the Money Train robbers.
Also, was the Money Train thing definitely going to be what Lem admitted to? Surely it would have to be since it was the only thing that he had that was a federal thing rather than a state thing.
Also, when did Shane know that he might have to kill Lem? It would have to be before or at the grenade-house raid, but even then he couldn't be sure that he would be the one to not be tailed, or even that there would be tails on them that would force them to split up. Perhaps I need to watch the episode again with this one.

Also I don't know if anybody has discussed this but if a hand grenade were to go off that close to Lem (I think Shane threw it on the dashboard) there would be nothing but mangled flesh and blood. I confirmed this with a friend of mine who was in Iraq. Don't these f ucking writers get out in the real world and see how it really is sometimes.

I don't think Shane threw the grenade on the dashboard. If he did, Lem would have seen it and threw it away. I thought Shane dropped the grenade just inside the door of the car. That would have put the grenade on the floor of the car or between the seat and the door. That would have made the mangled flesh and blood on Lem's lower body. That would seem to explain how Lem's face was not completely blown off.
Famous reference for what a grenade can do to a person... Former Senator Max Cleland lost both legs and an arm when he reached down to pick up a grenade he saw lying on the ground after he got off of a helicopter in Vietnam. So, whatever part of the body that is closest to the grenade will probably end up destroyed, it is possible for some parts of the body to still be intact.

Yeah I only watched it once, I'll have to really try and see where the grenade was thrown, but still they should have been more gruesome. Just think of the shock value they could have gotten, we're talking fried face on a stove shock value!

Just think of the shock value they could have gotten, we're talking fried face on a stove shock value! It was plenty shocking as it was. The point was to mangle Lem but keep him alive enough to linger. MORE gruesome?? His sweet face was already wet with his own blood and guts. God, I can't get that image out of my head. No, it was as nasty and cruel as it needed to be. If they had to do it, that was the way. Perfect.
I believe the grenade landed on the floor behind Lem's seat. That's what it sounded like to me. Shane thought close enough to kill him but he wouldn't see it or be able to throw it out. I believe he hoped Lem would die never knowing what happened. (WRONGO, bastard!! Now you must DIE!!)
Note: I have visions of an out-take... Kenny sticks a slice of bread to his forehead just as the director says "Action!" and Walt crawls up to say his lines... Almost makes me giggle...almost.

I guess Kavannaugh was wrong. When he was in the office talking to Aceveda, he said that they both failed. He thought by going after one of them, that person would turn on the other and give them up.
He even said, "They dont turn on each other, Good for them". sounding like he admired their loyalty. Well I guess he was wrong about that. Perhaps he should have gone after the one that Antwoin told him about. Shane

Perhaps he should have gone after the one that Antwoin told him about. Shane That's what I've been trying to say all along. But then that whole plotline would be gone.
