Cool answers!! Glad I could lure you over here....
I'm glad you did, too --this board kicks the imdb Shield board's butt. If I saw one more "When is the next season going to air?" thread I think I would have done something very, very bad. . . #scooby_03#

1. How did you find out about "The Shield?" I remember seeing ads for it on Fox back in 2001, and then reading reviews of its success, but I still never sat down to watch an episode because I didn't watch many TV shows. I only watched movies and sports. I'm a huge Forest Whitaker fan so I decided to tune in to an episode during Season 5 and was blown away. Even though I knew how season 5 ended, I still went back and watched every episode from Season 1 all the way through Season 5. Even knowing the ending of Season 5 I still was totally drawn to every storyline and every episode. Seriously, what an amazing show.
2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most? ACTING...i watch the show for many reasons. Other than being entertained, the acting is absolutely incredible. The character development in TS is some of the best I've ever seen in a serial series.
3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join? I use to look at some message boards on IMDB of TS and clicked on the link. Looked cool so I joined.
4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means? Like Vic told Dutch, sometimes you know someone is guilty, but you just don't have the evidence. As long as someone is guilty of a crime, do what's neccessary to bust um'.
5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable? As long as it is at a late hour, they should be able to go as far as TS goes. Maybe a little farther but only on occasion.
6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like? None
7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system? No
8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey? Chiklis is an incredible actor and I had no idea to what degree until I watched TS. He is deserving of every praise he gets.
9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left? TS couldn't survive because after five seasons so much of the A storylines have revolved around his character. In terms of acting ability, Walton Goggins has the ability to carry a series, but TS couldn't survive now without Chiklis.
10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law? Probably 25%
11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system? It has plenty of problems, but when you look at other countries, it's actually as good as it can get in my opinion...don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it's good, but it's better than anywhere else.
12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? ) Figured I'd give Forest Whitaker a shoutout since he is the reason I'm not obsessed with this show.

Welcome FWforprez and thanks for answering the icebreakers. That's an indication that you'll be more likely to post here, not just read. Unlike some sites, we don't have any posting requirements, but it goes without saying that if no one posted we wouldn't have much of a site, right? It's funny how many times peeps say they saw an ep somewhere during the course of the series and found they not only had to go back and watch it from the beginning, they did it in marathon fashion! That makes you a card-carrying TS fanatic ... just the kind of peeps we like having here! I also like your answer to #4. That's exactly how I feel. They key obviously being "if you know someone is guilty."

Welcome to the group. We hope you get a chance to respond to our "icebreaker" questions as a way of "getting your feet wet."
1. How did you find out about "The Shield?" Surfing through channels years ago I came upon the show but I didn't watch. I had no idea what the show was based on and I have to admit I ignored the show for a long time because I thought it was just another "Cop Show" where police are portrayed as saints. Boy was I ever wrong. One day I was home on the computer & a rerun was just on in the background .... and I saw Vic planting drugs on a suspect lol so it caught my attention. Watched the episode to the end and was instantly hooked like a crack head. I immediately rented all the seasons back to the first ep.2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most? I watch because the writers are geniuses and the acting/ directing are really captivating. It NEVER disappoints. Watching the show is so intense that I don't allow my girlfriend to come over when its on in fear of any distraction. Haha3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join? shieldlexicon.com is where I saw the link for this site. I wanted to join the other addicts 4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? I think if its a serious case a lawyer should always be present. That in itself will avoid a lot of unnecessary abuse of power. 5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable? Well obviously hardcore fans want to watch the show in raw form unedited. but you have to think about kids watching this sort of thing. I don't have any of my own yet but I do think they could be influenced by it. Although I love the show Id say its borderline R rating as it is. Ultimately its up to the parents!6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like? None. refer to question #1. Well I do enjoy CSI but its not the same. 7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system? No, but I have some friends who are cops and correction officers.8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey? Incredible actor. Stellar performances. Nobody could replace him for this role. 9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left? Absolutely not. Nothing against the other actors because they are all great but the show is based on his character. Could the Sopranos survive without Gandolfini?10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law? I have friends who suffered at the hands of police brutality so yea I think quite a few cops abuse their power. 11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system? Needs a lot of work.12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? ) Mackey's Way - its the only way.

1. How did you find out about "The Shield?" last year, my ex-wife saw a few episodes before i met her and she talked up a storm about it when we first met, and so we rented the first four seasons and i've been obsessed ever since. 2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most? i honestly don't know how to answer this question in simple terms. it's basically the most emotionally involving piece of visual entertainment that i've ever watched. put it this way: i don't cry often, but i teared up during the last two episodes of season 5. i almost feel like watching this show is the equivalent to hanging out with my best friends. i watch it when i'm upset and it seriously cheers me up. 3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join? just through searching for random venues to talk about the show that isn't IMDB. i signed up some time last year, but never posted until today. 4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means? i think cops should uphold the law the way they're "supposed" to. it may very well be the most dangerous job a person can have in this country, but in the end, it IS a job, and there ARE rules. and if you break them, you SHOULD be fired. but i'll be goddamned if isn't entertaining to watch the rules get broken on this show! 5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable? in a perfect world, there should be no censorship on anything. i don't really understand the censorship process with this show though. how can people call eachother "cocksuckers" (lem says it once in "Co-Pilot") but not be able to drop an F-bomb? i just don't get it. 6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like? none. why bother with anything else? also, "the wire" is terribly lame. 7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system? i did criminal background research, and applied for a job as a private investigator which i'm waiting to hear back on, haha. 8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey? hey, i know him as the dad in "Spirited Away" haha. oh, and his portrayal of vic mackey is absolutely legendary. seriously. he made his mark in television history with this role. nothing can compare. 9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left? definitely not. walton goggins could maybe save the show. his acting has grown tremendously as well as his character. 10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law? i honestly don't have an opinion because i've never kept up on this kind of thing in real life. 11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system? it's confused. 12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? ) it's a very old screen name from my middle school years. a mixture of song titles.

1. How did you find out about "The Shield?" A co-worker was always raveing about it. I didn't have cable at the time so I couldn't watch it. When they came out on DVD I rented them from blockbuster and have been hooked ever since
2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most? Working in Law enforcement you get to the point where you have to have some sort of outlet. I like that the realism of it. You cant do the things the Strike team does for real but its stuff you would like to do.
3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join? I was just looking for a place to discuss the show with like minded people. Most of my cop buddies wont watch the show because they feel it portrays police in a bad light.
4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means? Of course the part of me that gets frustrated with the system things the Vick Mackey style is the best way but I dint feel we as a society could ever let that happen because of how far people would cross the line
5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable? I like all of the above mentioned so as long as you can block it from your kids let'er rip
6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like?Law-and Order, Cops, Reno 911,
7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system? 7 Years in Security field 4 Of which as a School Officer
8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey? Awesome
9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left? I dont think so. He is such a Central character. He is like the glue that holds everything together
10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law? I think its just like anything else you have really good cops and really bad cops. Human beings are corruptible and depending on ones constitution it just depends on at what level one is corruptible. I think because law enforcement gets so much publicity its easier to see it than in anything else..
11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system? Flawed. real criminals go free while petty annie guys get caught. It's not Fluid or consistent
12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? ) That answer is posted in my introduction.... Call me lazy but I ain't retyping it. LOL

1. How did you find out about "The Shield?" I saw the preview for it on FX and I've watched EVERY moment of it since the beginning.
2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most? I watch The Shield because it is the greatest show ever to be on TV. The plots, characters...it's addicting!!!
3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join? I was a member of TheShieldFans but when that went under I found this one.
4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means?
It depends.....
5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable?
I am a firm believer in freedom of speech! I think that as long as there are parental controls then it's fair game. People might not tune in and sponsors might pull their ads.
6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like? Law & Order, SVU and DOG The Bounty Hunter
7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system?
Yes
8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey?
I think his is the best in the biz!
9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left?
With the writing staff they have, YES.... it would be very different though....
10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law?
I don't mind police, I think they are very important to our safety. Redneck cops that give speeding tickets for going 2MPH over the limit to me are a**hole though. I think 60% of cops think they are above the law, they let each other and their families off the hook for speeding, drinking and other things ALL THE TIME!
11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system?
Overall it's not bad, better than other countries. At least we are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? )
"Strike Team 4 Life" = No matter what happens, the team comes first and we will always be teammates and brothers of the Strike Team.
STRIKE HARD, STRIKE FAST!!!

1. I actually discovered it all by myself...seeing ads for it on FX, so I Netflixed the previous seasons before the current season started and was hooked by ep 1! 2. I love the fact that the writing is so superior to other shows on air right now. You never know what to expect, but everything that happens actually makes sense! (what a novel idea) 3. My sister's friend heard that I loved the show and he sent me the link! 4. There is definitely a real probem with corrupt cops in this country, especially in big cities, and I DO think that they should be held accountable for corrupt tactics. Having said that, it's hard to dislike cops like Vic whose main goal is to get the bad guys off the street. 5. I am VERY against censorship of any form, so the "raunchier" the better 6. I LOVED Homicide when that was on, sometimes I watch the CSIs to pass the time and to be entertained, Crossing Jordan is fun too 7. Well, I've never been arrested! But I am a prelaw student studying for the LSATs, so I will be having a lot more contact with the system in the near future. 8. Having never watched The Commish, I didn't have any preconceived notions about Michael Chiklis as an actor, and I can't see anyone else in the role of Vic Mackey...he trully is a scary guy! 9. I don't think The Shield could exist in its present integrity without Chiklis...I'm a purist. 10. My contact with police has been restricted to speeding/parking tickets, and in my experience, many cops DO feel that they are above the law and treat us ordinary people as second class citizens. I understand that they are trained to be suspicious of everybody, but I dislike being treated as a criminal when I'm not one. Of course, one of my best friends is a cop and she is a wonderful person, so I guess there are exceptions to the rule I also think that a vast majority of cops are NOT corrupt. 11. Overall, our criminal justice system works very well...the arbitration system generally creates fair trials and sentences. With any system there are flaws, though, snd I'm not sure that anything can be done about it. There has been a shift in recent years away from "innocent until proven guilty" which scares me. 12. I've used DragonWing in other forums so I just decided to use it again...kind of a boring explanation huh?

Thanks for taking the time to answer these, dragonwing. Re some of your responses: #2: great point -- couldn't agree with you more. #3: Is your sister's friend a TSR member? I guess he must be ... I wonder what his screen name is. #5: my kinda gal (and The Shield's, too). #6: It interests me how many peeps from here are Homicide fans. I never really got into that show. Andre Brougher just sort of creeped me out the few times I watched--not really sure why. I'm a die-hard Law and Order junkie, though. #7: I took the LSAT, cold, a long time ago (meaning no prep whatsoever), expecting it to be like the GRE, which I took with a hangover and did pretty well. Boy did I have a surprise. All these weird Qs with choices like "a. should doctor A's nurse have scheduled an appt. with patient X when he was in waiting room C before consulting with doctor B who was in room Y, which is reserved only for patients with prognosis Z who arrived before noon on Tuesdays?" So I bombed it, then I bought a prep book and did good enough the 2nd time to get accepted to a law school. I never ended up going, but that's a different story. I hope the test is different now. #9: A purist who believes the raunchier the better--I think we'll keep this one, eh folks? #10: I don't know what your ethnicity is, but I guess you can imagine how peeps of color feel at times ... probably all the time. Anyway, welcome to the group!!

1. How did you find out about "The Shield?"
I first heard of "The Shield" after it won some Golden Globes, and even though there was a lot of buzz surrounding the show, I never really got around to watching it until Season 5. I stumbled upon in accidently when I had a late class on Tuesday nights. It was too late to get any studying done, so I started to channel surf and came upon "The Shield." I've been hooked ever since. I ended up buying seasons 1-4 on DVD and watched all the episodes within a week (I was on spring break, so I had the time).
2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most?
The fast pace of "The Shield" is the part of the show that draws me to it. I also like the fact that it doesn't cater to the lowest common denominator. It's well-written with great, complicated characters.
3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join?
I was going through withdrawal since the season finale and decided to see if I could find something online. I decided to join because none of my friends watch the show so I have no one to talk about it with.
4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means?
I certainly think that the Strike Team goes too far in getting the truth. Beating suspects, planting evidence, conducting warrantless searches and skimming money of the streets is going too far, but, for some reason, on "The Shield", the ends seem to justify the means. I don't think that the ends justify the means in real life though. The rules are there for a reason. 5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable?
I think that cable TV should be able to go further than broadcast TV and I think that cable TV should have different standards.
6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like?
I like Law & Order and CSI, but I hardly ever watch them. And after watching a season of "The Shield" they seem so boring because they move so slowly in comparison.
7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system?
Yes, I do. I am a recent law school grad. I should have my license to practice law in September. I have clerked for two judges in different districts in Florida and have seen quite a bit in the criminal courts. It's very disturbing to see all of the crimes that the media never reports. It is unbelievable what people will do to other people.
8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey?
Actually, I've never seen Chiklis in anything other than "The Shield", but I hear that his role as Vic Mackey is quite a departure from his previous roles.
9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left?
No, I don't think that the show could survive without Chiklis, but if I had to choose who could keep the show going, I think that Walton Goggins could save it.
10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law?
I think that the majority of law enforcement officers are on the level and it's the few corrupt officers that cast a shadow on all of the positive things that officers do for our communities. Of course I think it's awful when I hear of police brutality and corruption. Officers put their lives on the line everyday and don't get paid nearly enough. If I had to estimate as to how many real cops think that they are above the law, I would say 5%. I sincerely hope it isn't higher than that.
11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system?
I don't think that the American criminal justice system is perfect, but it's the only thing we have. Criminal law is my area, so I could go on and on about it...but I'll spare you. Unfortunately, the public usually only hears about the system's failings rather than its successes.
12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? )
My favorite character on "The Shield" is Detective Holland "Dutch" Wagenbach, so 'iloveholland' seemed an appropriate choice.

It's funny how many peeps who have started with TS somewhere down the road say they got hooked right away, bought the earlier season DVDs and had themselves a Shield marathon!
Criminal law specialty, huh? Any thoughts on which side of the aisle you want to be on?

^ I'd like to know that as well! Not that anyone asked ME, but when has that ever stopped me before? lol I tried working with a criminal defense firm, but I just couldn't make it work. I found myself wanting to lock the clients up myself! Working with civil action (divorce, car accidents, property disputes, etc) was better for me, but the clients were always so upset.... what I truly loved was working in a prosecutor's office! Oh yeah, I want the bad guys to fry!!! lol Right now, I work with a firm that represents corporate clients against employee lawsuits and workers' comp claims. We also do seminars to teach employers how to avoid those suits with proper documentation and office policies, and we have training for the employees so they understand all the policies too. My job is to proofread every single thing that gets typed there - even the interoffice memos! The boss has a real problem with typos and bad grammar. YAY!!!

Welcome to the group. We hope you get a chance to respond to our "icebreaker" questions as a way of "getting your feet wet." 1. How did you find out about "The Shield?" FX commercials and word of mouth 2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most? The intensity of show...it keeps me on the edge of my seat every episode! 3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join? IMDB 4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means? I guess it depends on the crime. For murder, rape, child molestation they should go as far as they can. 5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable? I think cable tv should be able to go as far as they can. For me personally broadcast tv shouldn't have different standards. 6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like? None 7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system? Nope 8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey? I've never seen Chiklis as the Commish or in Daddio, so I cant compare. But he is incredible as Vic Mackay. 9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left? It might survive, but it wouldn't be the same. Imagine the Sopranos without Tony...not gonna happen. Maybe Walton could save the show, but not likely. 10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law? My experience with the law has been positive. Percentage wise, maybe 15% are corrupt? 11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system? It could use some tweaking. 12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? ) ;D ;D

Welcome to the group. We hope you get a chance to respond to our "icebreaker" questions as a way of "getting your feet wet." 1. How did you find out about "The Shield?" My father loves cop shows, or basically any mix of testosterone and intrigue. He started watching it first, and raved about it. I don't have cable, so as much as he talked it up, I was immune. Lack of access made it unattractive, I guess. But I took a chance on Season 1 when I saw the DVD's in Blockbuster, and I haven't looked back since.2. Why do you watch "The Shield"; ie, what part of the show draws you to it the most? It seems to understand that its viewers will be willing to think, if only they are given something to think about. Too many television shows will feed the viewing public any kind of pablum they'll eat, as long as it sells. I appreciate the vote of confidence that the smart (well, genius, really) acting and writing casts in the viewer's favor. At the same time, the show knows how to deftly hit on all our primitive instincts and responses, so deftly that you are taken in, and involved. You are in there, invested to the hilt, with your heart racing, talking to the television, and jonsing for the next episode like a junkie as soon as the credits roll. 3. How did you find out about "TheShieldRap" and what made you decide to join? From Kenny Johnson's message board.4. How far do you think cops should be able to go to get the truth? To what extent do the ends justify the means? The Rule of Law is something I am sentimental about, but I know and tacitly accept that following it doesn't always glean results. I'll leave it at that.5. How far do you think cable TV should be able to go in terms of language, nudity, and/or sexual content? Should broadcast TV have different standards than cable? Given the fact that there's so much technology out there with which to control the who, what, where, when, and why of viewing patterns in ones household, the issue for me is much more about artistic veracity and quality than propriety. If violence, language, or sexual content are gratuitous, and serve no other purpose but to titillate, that's one thing. But if they deepen the integrity of the storytelling and are handled artfully, I say go.6. What other cop or law-related shows do you like? Law and Order: SVU, Criminal Minds, and the original CSI, though I'm not a regular viewer of any of them.7. Do you have any experience with or in the criminal justice system? No, aside from a few affiliated family members.8. Most of us know Michael Chiklis as "The Commish" and he was in the NBC comedy "Daddio". What do you think of Michael's portrayal of corrupt cop and tough guy, Vic Mackey? Michael, why must you confuse me this way, and make me love the confusion so? Vic Mackey is a bad man, I know. But he makes you understand why, and even endorse his evil deeds, in spite of yourself. You deserved that Emmy, full-stop, and should have had many others by rights.9. Could "The Shield" survive if Michael Chiklis left the show? Which actor would have the best chance of saving the show if Chiklis left? No. I will not even entertain the idea. Don't ask me to. Kenny was bad enough. Spin-off shows? Maybe.10. Reading and hearing about police brutality and police corruption, what do you think about law enforcement in real life? In your opinion, what percentage of real cops think they are above the law? Cops are just a subculture of greater society, with the same ratio of bad apples to good as you would find anywhere else. The only problem is, the bad ones have a lot more leeway to act on their character flaws than the average morally ambiguous citizen, and a code among them that tends to protect aberrant behavior much more quickly than it prosecutes it. To a certain extent, that may just be the way of the world. If you're going to wrestle in the gutter with the increasingly violent elements in our society, you somewhat have to become them, or speak the language they understand. No matter what, the vast majority are exceptional people, doing a thankless job, for people who need them desperately but despise them for it.11. What, in a nutshell, is your overall view of the American criminal justice system? It's the best in the world, but woefully inadequate.12. New question: How did you come up with your screen name (in cases where it's not obvious, right CHIKchick? ) It's sort of hippie-ish, I guess, with a bit of a Gothic twist. I guess that's an accurate, albeit basic, description of me.
