From Variety: After nine seasons, Jesse L. Martin is leaving "Law & Order" and will be replaced by "K-Ville" star Anthony Anderson.
Martin's departure has been buzzed about for months. He's expected to lens one more episode of Dick Wolf's NBC drama, with Anderson joining later this season.
For Anderson, the "L&O" role reps his latest gig on a cop show. He played a New Orleans detective on Fox's "K-Ville" and made the jump from comedy to serious drama on FX's "The Shield."
Fox has never officially admitted that it and "K-Ville" are splitsville, but Anderson's casting would seem to be the final nail in the coffin for the highly touted 2007 drama. I'm pretty excited about this. Law & Order has actually improved alot this season compared to the last few years. And it will be good to see Anthony Anderson again.

L&O is my 2nd fave show. "Ed" (Jesse L Martin) was good, but I think AA will be better! It's hard to believe Martin was on the show 9 years already. Where does the time go?

Can you guys tell me how many eps of K-Ville there are? It was broadcast to cable tv here and we saw about 5 eps before they stopped it due to the writers strike - or so they told us.
I might start watching some L&O again to see AA in it, he has a certain charisma on screen.

Last night I had L&O SVU on in the background while I was doing something else. Not hard to do since SVU is on the USA network several hours every night. Anyway, on back-to-back episodes I saw Anthony Anderson and Paula Garces (Tina on TS). AA's character, a cop, definitely had an attitude and if that character is brought over to the "mothership" (it makes sense that it would) then he will bring some interesting friction and a new edge to the show. JL Martin was good, but his character wasn't given a lot of latitude. He mainly provided a lot of eye candy for the women viewers.
AA's character, at least in that SVU ep, will be more of a Vic Mackey type. He definitely rubbed Elliot Stabler (lead male detective in SVU) the wrong way with his tactics and 'tude, though they were both much like Stabler's. It will be interesting to see how he and Jeremy Sisto, L&O's other new cop, interact. I'm looking forward to it. By the way, I have been impressed with what I've seen of Jeremy Sisto in DVDs of the first season of Six Feet Under. I had never heard of him before -- he's good.

I saw AA's first L&O and he is playing a different role than the one in SVU. In the former he was busting Ed's balls as an IAD cop. Later, he helped investigate Ed's bust in more detail and helped get him off.
Damn that I forgot to watch the next ep from the beginning. I tuned in about 20 min. late and by then AA's part was almost done. But he was no longer with IAD, he joined the 2-7 (squad no. that the cast detectives work in). He must have impressed Van Buren with the way he ended up handling Ed's case.
