Kenneth Johnson will be starring in a new TV series called "Saving Grace" with Holly Hunter on TNT. The show premieres July 23 for all you Lem fans out there!
I dunno if any of you rappies have ever seen "The Closer" starring Kyra Sedgwick, but it will follow this show on Mondays. I happen to be a fan of "The Closer" and give it a big thumbs up!!! -----------------------------------------------------------------------
About "Saving Grace" Academy Award®-winning actress Holly Hunter (The Piano) takes on the role of a cynical police detective facing a personal crisis of divine proportions in the provocative new drama series SAVING GRACE, premiering this July on TNT.
In her television series debut, Hunter stars as Grace Hanadarko, a tormented, fast-living Oklahoma City police detective who, despite being at the top of her field, takes self-destruction to new heights. After seeing tremendous tragedy in her life, both professionally and personally, Grace lives life hard and fast. She drinks too much, sleeps with the wrong men and defies authority. Grace has a tender side with her 22 nieces and nephews, but that is a side that most of the world doesn’t get to see. It all catches up with her one night when, as she’s driving too fast after too many drinks, she hits a man who is walking along the road. In an uncharacteristic moment, Grace asks for help, and she gets it – in the form an unconventional angel named Earl (Leon Rippy, Deadwood). Earl tells Grace that she is in trouble and running out of chances, but he wants to help lead her back to the right path. The journey, for both of them, will not be an easy one.
Creator Nancy Miller says of Hunter, “Holly can break your heart and make you laugh in the same moment. She’s astonishing. Grace is a complex character, deeply troubled but searching for the good, with a heart full of love and pain, and a surprising tenderness when you least expect it.”
In addition to Rippy, the cast also includes Kenneth Johnson (The Shield) as Grace’s partner; Gregory Norman Cruz (Criminal Minds) as detective Bobby Stillwater; Bailey Chase (Las Vegas) as detective Butch Ada; Bokeem Woodbine (The Big Hit) as a death row inmate who figures into Grace’s struggle and Laura San Giacomo (Just Shoot Me) as the criminalist who, despite having strong religious beliefs, is the only one in Grace’s life who does not judge her.

Hmmm. . .This is not normally the type of show I would watch, but with both Holly Hunter and KJ I think it's worth a peek. Thanks, icy. . .

"Kenneth" Johnson?? Has he always gone by that? I thought he was just plain "Kenny". He's a "Kenny" not a "Kenneth"! Or "Ken"... yeah, "Ken" The big blond beach boy version!

If you ever noticed the opening credits of TS it was "Kenneth Johnson". Stephanie found out about him being on "Saving Grace" the other night. Her amusing revelation is in the thread about Kenny Johnson's CHEST. That girl is a trip, I tell ya.

I saw a screener of the whole first two episodes - it's a really good show - I like Holly Hunter anyways and this role is perfect for her - KJ's part is much bigger than his Shield Lem role so we get to see more of him - he's excellent (although we knew he would be) - also, the new TV Guide gives him a big shout out too
it's maybe not quite as good as Damages (I've seen just the first ep of that one) - but then Damages is gonna be awesome - at least they're not on at the same time, ha ha

Anytime Kenny is oncreen more is a great time! We went on the "Saving Grace" website and got a new wallpaper for our PC, of course it's of Kenny as "Ham". "HAM"?? Can we call him "HAMMY"? J/K! I'm sure ya'll remember "Tiny Toon Adventures" the show where they had a little pig named "Hammy". That's what I thought of when I heard his character's name. Kenny's a helluva lot more fun to watch, though! Anyone who goes to the site ~ look for "Downloads" and you'll see the AWESOME wallpaper. He looks fantastic!

I watched the premier of this show last night. It wasn't bad, but nowhere near on the level of the Shield (at least based on the first episode).
I'll check out a few more episodes though before I fully judge it...

I thought it was GREAT! I love Holly Hunter (she was hysterical in Raising Arizona) and this role fits her like a glove. Kenny Johnson is just as awesome as he ever was, I love his character and the fact that he's still playing someone with a conscience. Wouldn't seem right otherwise. At the end when they went to the Oklahoma City Memorial where the Murrah Building once stood it brought tears to my eyes. I lived in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma when I was younger, right outside Tulsa. I've been to Oklahoma City several times and know people there so it kind of hits home. Definitely one place you'd never expect such a tragedy to happen. There was this story in the news when it happened in 1995, a woman who lost BOTH of her young sons in the daycare center. Having lost one child myself I can't imagine the pain of losing two to something so horrible and tragic. It literally broke my heart and I cried and prayed for her. I hope Timothy McVeigh is rotting in HELL where he belongs!

I felt like I was watching The Shield for a second when Lem (I mean Kenny), was chasing that guy down on foot at the livestock auction after he ran out the back. Any fan of The Shield should check this out to see Kenny.. he plays Holly Hunter's partner and love interest so he is featured prominently. Any female fans are definitely going to want to catch a re-air of this episode if you can. The first scene was a very revealing love scene.

I know where you're coming from ~ every time I saw Kenny Johnson onscreen as "Ham" I kept thinking "It's LEM!!! It's LEM!!!" Old habits die hard. I don't care what they call him he's STILL Kenny Johnson and I am thrilled to be able to watch him every week again. I've missed him greatly on "The Shield"!! ;D

My youngest daughter thinks "Grace" reminds her of me. Doesn't give a damn, stubborn, hardheaded, WAY too many vices, and just as outspoken. I just laughed. Also the way "Grace"'s faith in God has been diminished ~ the same way mine was when I lost my daughter. Hmm. Go figure.

A friend of mine called me about this show. I missed the premier, but TNT always shows the reruns about 50 times in one week. I hope to catch it this week.

There is also an artile in OK! magazine (the one with Eva Longoria on the cover) about him. I saw it at work. Nice shot of him and his co-star, Bokeem Woodbine as they 'dish about their new show "Saving Grace" at West Hollywood's Sur restaurant.'
