So it's looking more and more like Whitaker is going to win an oscar come February. He's won the best actor from pretty much every single major critics group over the last month or so for that movie "The Last King of Scotland". Look at this link.. He's winning everything. This is pretty cool right? Anyone actually manage to catch this movie? It never made it to my city. Can you imagine how the FX ad people will just be trumpeting the phrase "Academy Award Winner" in the season 6 commercials if he wins.

I looked at that list of awards. Wow. The Academy voters will have some explaining to do if he doesn't win.

Didn't he already win an AA or an Oscar? I seem to remember he won something....

On some entertainment news clip on the way in to work today, they were talking about box office numbers for the past week. I don't usually pay attention to it but heard "Last King of Scotland" and it caught my ear a bit. If I remember correctly, they said it was just opened up to a few more theatres in the nation but was still a very limited release. Probably why I hadn't heard of it til all this talk started up.

Well, he's now officially been nominated. His only real competition seems to be from Peter O'toole. I'm conflicted as to who to cheer for. One one hand I love Whitaker, on the other hand I have a real soft spot for incredibly talented old people who have never won any.
