Three-time Tony Award winner Glenn Close will star in a new television pilot for FX, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.
The drama headed by Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman will bring Close back to the cable network on which she recently appeared in the cop drama "The Shield." Sony TV (which also has a hand in "The Shield") is attached to the new pilot.
The untitled show will feature Close as "a hard-hitting lawyer," the trade magazine reports. The show is described as "a character-driven legal thriller set in New York," and Patty Hughes, Close's character, was written with the actress in mind.
Close won her three Tonys for her performances in Sunset Boulevard, Death and the Maiden and The Real Thing. The actress, known for such movies as "Fatal Attraction," "Dangerous Liaisons," and the Mel Gibson "Hamlet," also appeared onstage in The Play What I Wrote, Benefactors, The Crucifer of Blood, Rex and Barnum — for which she earned her first Tony nomination. She starred in TV versions of South Pacific (opposite Harry Connick, Jr. in 2001) and The Lion in Winter (with Patrick Stewart in 2003).
Allen Coulter will direct the pilot that plans to begin production in February.

I think That may be the first show FX has or will put out I have NO interest in. I do not like GC never had, never will. I really did not care for her on the shield. They could have found somebody better for her role as captain.

I wonder if she'll have her personal hairdresser on the set like she did on The Shield?

I don't give 2 shits of piss about celebrities and what they do on there own time let alone show with fake tabloids and fake celebrities. If I want to watch a lawyer show I'll watch L&O, and only half of that is lawyer stuff.

Some people say Hollywood hasn't had an original idea since who knows when, hence the plethora of sequels. Ok, that's an exaggeration. But, let's not overlook the big three that dominate TV dramas (and even some sitcoms): cop shows, lawyer shows, and doctor shows. Well, there is a new kid in town: the forensic cop show. Wait, that is still a cop show, what was I thinking? Then there's the cop/doctor show (coroners who act like cops by pursuing perps, a la "Crossing Jordan." I know! A coroner turned district attorney who uses his former medical training to help prosecute perps! What could we call it? "The Medical Crossexaminer"?

I think "The Medical Cross-dressing Examiner" would be a better sell.

I might give it a shot out of boredom. Not a whole lot other than Big Brother comes on during the summer and I bet that is when this will wind up airing.

Found a new article on this, Ted Danson will be staring opposite of Glen Close
Danson Tapped for FX Pilot
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Christian Lewis 1/31/2007
Actor Ted Danson joined ranks with Glenn Close and director Allen Coulter (The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under) on an upcoming drama pilot for FX.
The untitled pilot -- written by Todd Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler and produced by FX Productions and Sony Pictures Television -- is the basis for a legal thriller series. If picked up by the network, the show would mark Close’s first lead in a television series and Danson’s first role in a drama series for cable television.
“We are thrilled to have an actor of Ted Danson’s caliber join the cast of this pilot,” FX executive vice president of original series Nick Grad said in a prepared statement. “He is an incredibly talented dramatic actor, and he is the perfect fit for what we believe is a fantastic role.”
The pilot stars Close as high-stakes litigator Patty Hewes, while Danson plays Arthur Frobisher, a corporate giant embattled in a class-action lawsuit brought by Hewes. At the peak of her career, Hewes has added new lawyer and protégé Ellen Parsons (played by Rose Byrne) to her firm. Tate Donovan (The O.C.) plays Tom Shayes, a longtime law partner of Hewes, and Zeljko Ivanek (Oz) plays Ray Fiske, an attorney for Frobisher.
Production begins next week in New York.
The pilot is a reunion for Close and Danson, who starred together in made-for-television movie Something About Amelia, which won Danson a Golden Globe award and Emmy Award nomination and which won Close both Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. The pilot also brings Close back to FX, where she co-starred in season four of The Shield -- earning her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for lead actress in a drama series in the role of Capt. Monica Rawling.
Of 10 drama-series pilots ever produced for FX, six received full series orders of 13 episodes: The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, Over There, Dirt and The Riches. One show, Thief, received a limited-series order of six episodes.

The pilot is a reunion for Close and Danson, who starred together in made-for-television movie Something About Amelia, which won Danson a Golden Globe award and Emmy Award nomination and which won Close both Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. I was going to post that the only serious role I saw Ted Danson in was 'Something About Amelia'--he had an incestuous relationship with his teen daughter, which is about as serious as it gets. Then I saw the part above mentioned. Funny, I don't remember Close in that movie at all. It was a good 12-14 yrs ago. I'm trying to imagine those two together in this new show. No doubt the producers will also woo the 22-35 demographic with a racially diverse and gender-balanced group of young co-star lookers.

You know, it really must say something about my sensibilities if a show is coming out that stars Glen Close and Ted Danson and the actor that I'm most interested in is Zeljko Ivanek.

I was just a little off--a little factor 2. 'Something about Amelia" was made in '84.
