The Shield draws 3.9 million for FX. With the addition of Glenn Close, the season premiere is up 37 percent over last year -by Michael Slezak (Entertainment Weekly) She will not be ignored — and how. The fourth-season premiere of FX's gritty cop drama The Shield — featuring the addition of Glenn Close as a hard-driving police captain — drew 3.9 million viewers Tuesday night, up 37 percent from last season's first episode. The show's 2.3 million audience in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic was also an improvement on last year.
Still, Close's presence couldn't drive The Shield's ratings to 2002-2003 levels; indeed, the series' premiere episodes in its first two seasons drew more than 4 million viewers.
