Nominees are announced on Thursday. Anyone think that "The Shield" has a chance?

Not a chance. We got our moment of glory after season 1, so all the organizations are now content to pretend we don't exist.

THE WIRE needs to win SOMETHING before this show is over. Nothing better.

Random, is the wire still on for jan 6th? You bet your ass! The final season starts January 6th, On Demand a week earlier, just like last year. Gonna be amazing - final season focuses on the media's influence, David Simon's specialty.

PS - I'm the resident THE WIRE fan. Welcome. It's all in the game, yo.

Yep, final season, 10 episodes, January 6; if you have On Demand, then the first episode will be available December 31. For those looking for a silver lining, the writers' strike might improve the Emmy prospects for shows like The Shield and The Wire. Most of the major network shows will be dealing with truncated seasons and be done airing by around February. Many of them might not even have gotten around to filming their Emmy bait episodes. On the other hand, The Wire and The Shield will be airing complete seasons in the later portion of the TV season, so they'll have a better chance of getting the Emmy people's attention. That said, they'll still probably ignore both shows.
I beg your pardon? I believe I'm the resident The Wire fan. If you don't believe me, then check my signature.

That's cool, take the credit, hell if I care. I didn't know there was a need to fight about East Baltimore. I think my 550+ posts kinda speak for themselves.
Ask around, .:E:. and chem almost bitch-slapped me (.:E:. actually wanted to do worse) last season when I was "too" up on THE WIRE and down on THE SHIELD.
If you're really hard core, you've see these, surely.

I wasn't actually looking for credit, just my poor attempt at humor.
Oh yeah, I've seen those. I thought the prequels were a little broad, the Prop Joe and McNulty ones in particular, but still amusing. The only one that worked dramatically was the Omar one. But since those prequels are only meant to function as extended commercials (and entertaining ones at that), I probably shouldn't be that critical of them.
That said, I couldn't more psyched about the final season. They're bringing back the Greeks, and McNulty's the main character again. They also got my man Clark Johnson directing the finale and joining the cast as a newspaper editor. Bringing all these storylines to their conclusions with only ten episodes will be the greatest TV juggling act ever. My only hope is that the entire season doesn't leak online like last season.

The Wire fifth season is all over the place
no nominations for The Shield - Damages got a bunch (Glenn Close, best show, Rose Byrne) and Michael C. Hall got one for Dexter and David Duchovney got one for Californication - so they aren't TOTAL idiots
