Hey guys -anyone alive out there? I'll leave the real specifics to the ones who normally cover that territory, but I thought that was a fantastic episode last night. Few points:
- Finally saw Dutch confronted about Vic and Corrine...what a moron for actually ADMITTING to Corrine that he started dating her, even at first, to stick it to Vic! He's just no good at relationships, man...really. I liked Vic's reaction too. It was fair - I'd do the same thing; kind of let him know that I know, let him know that I'm not cool with it, and then take my shots where I can get them to keep my head up and keep my pride.
-Can't remember the name of the detective, offhand, who fled the scene of the car wash shooting...but man, for a few minutes I thought he was dirty and had something to do with it. I was wondering when they'd incorporate him into the show more. I liked that little side story.
-Vic is keeping up his soft spot for women raising children in a shithole like Farmington. Very nice, what he did; making a difference where he can. I thought for sure that lady would have some dirt on Lem that he could go to IA or the cops with, getting the strike team into further crap before the season finale, but it didn't turn out that way.
-I was disappointed w/ the advertising of this episode, as I am with most. You think you'll have this nervewracking scene of Shane actually going though the REAL polygraph after seeing the first few minutes, but it doesn't happen. plus, the promo had this quote: "Have you ever LIED about your involvement in this case?" And I don't think those words are uttered by the locksmith guy who tests him in the beginning! It's just a few words, but still, I hate that. And then Army's reaction...I'm kind of glad he punked out...I'm not really a big fan of his character, and I figured he wouldn't become a permanent member of the strike team.
Lem talking to Army about it, being up front w/ him without making it seem like he's trying to scare him off, was one of the best scenes in that episode, in my opinion. You finally hear FROM LEM how he feels about things; you get the sense that he truly feels these guys are his brothers, even if Shane is the black sheep; when he says, "we get into some rough shit...we always say we're through, but it's always something else" [to paraphrase]. Great scene.
- Were Dani or Julien in last night's episode at all...??
- And then the whole team being, at least temporarily, back together...it was interesting seeing the new-but-old chemistry among the team members; Shane in the car w/ the cigarette, Shane sticking up for his guys w/ Army in the car and Lem & Ronnie in the backseat.
Ideas on where the season finale goes?? I knew Antwan wasn't out of the picture; next week's ep should be great.

Hey guys -anyone alive out there? I was kinda wondering the same thing. This is a psychological condition: having the need to sometimes tell everything, even when you know it's against your better judgement. I have to confess that I am somewhat that way myself. Some of it might be due to fearing that if you don't, it will come out later anyway and be even worse then. Some of it is a weird conscience thing (I say weird because it really isn't necessary in most cases). E.g., in this case, how would anyone know what's inside his head, so, if he felt compelled to come clean, he could have told her later. Just a bad, bad decision by Dutch to even think of dating the soon-to-be ex of a co-worker. And Vic's ex? ... you said it, fuji, m-o-r-o-n. And by Dutch, of all people? ... what is beyond moron? I liked it, too. I also liked the expression of Dutch's face, after he said he had something to do and couldn't accept Billings' offer of a beer ... he was sympathetic to Billings' plight. Whereas, Wyms had this look of disgust on her face. I sympathized with Billings, too. He probably would have wound up dead. Was anyone else thinking "please, please, don't have Vic hit on her ... it would have been so out of place, despite the fact that she was cute. Peach and I were talking about this. She remembered that we saw a female tech administering the polygraph when we were there for the filming. And that was the case, but in the promo wasn't it a male who was doing Shane? I'll have to watch again. Yeah, that was great: it's all about chemistry, heh heh. Let's get some ideas going about how the season will end. Maybe the next contest, CC?

FJU - they were (apparently) in this ep - at least the call sheet I have from when we visited the set shows two scenes being filmed with Danny and Julien. I'm totally with you that it seems like they weren't even there, even though I have it right here in front of me in paper and ink that they were, complete with the one-sentence scene descriptions, and yet I can't for the life of me remember their scenes! Sad.... We weren't there when they filmed those, though... Here's what the call sheet says:Scene 34: INT MONICA'S ALCOVE - Julien comes up with a different plan (Danny, Julien, Rawling) and Scene 44: INT BULLPEN - "You haul their asses in here" (also Danny, Julien, Rawling) Does that ring any bells for anyone? ~Peach **I've posted copies of the call sheets under the "Visit to the Set" area**

Peach and I were talking about this. She remembered that we saw a female tech administering the polygraph when we were there for the filming. And that was the case, but in the promo wasn't it a male who was doing Shane? I'll have to watch again. Yeah, well in the promo, the polygraph guy was just that, a guy...but he's the guy who helped the team out w/ Aceveda's safe last season, the ex-con / ex-military guy. Now, after getting out of the first few minutes of the episode realizing this is Shane's practice...okay, fair enough...but he still never said, "have you ever lied about your involvement in this case", like he says on the promo. Plus, when the woman gives him the real polygraph, they don't even show what was asked; they focus on Army's decision afterward - which, of course, is huge, so maybe it makes sense. This is why I'm not a television producer..

I loved this ep...give it an A (A+ is reserved for the finale...so it had better be as "sizzling" as Adam promised!) I usually have to watch them twice, though, to finally give one an A. Something about this one seemed dead-on! Only thing I didn't like was all of the foreign-sounding names. It was worse than a Godfather flick! I have a hard time catching on with names so I struggled a litte to follow the storyline. I have heard a lot of bitching about the promos misleading us or not even showing scenes in the actual ep. I don't like that either--what's worse, though, is when they give away something you'd rather not know...something we want to be a surprise! The promos for next week seemed less obvious than any this season--I can only imagine that means some good shit is coming! The Billings thing is difficult, for me, to gauge. (Copperhead will come give a professional opinion, I hope!--HINT HINT) If he had yelled "freeze" at the shooter, you can be sure there would have been a shoot-out. MAYBE the dead guy could have escaped, though, and MAYBE the shooter would have been hit or been able to get back to his buddy's car. Very unpredictable! What I did think was chickenshit was for Billings not to stick around. Calling in and then pressuring fellow cops not to tell was so not cool. I thought for sure Wyms would reveal what she knew. Is the corruption around her making her withdrawn and compliant? Dutchy, Dutchy, Dutchy... even I didn't believe he was hitting on Corrine, initially, to get back at Vic. First, I didn't think he'd be that cheesy and second, he had to know it was suicidal. I felt bad for Corrine, though I have never liked her character much. Chem wrote: ...wasn't it a male who was doing Shane? I'll have to watch again. I know I am going to have to watch this ep again because I certainly missed this scene!! Ever since Shane played an undercover hooker last year....I've been expecting something like this to happen! Speaking of Shane, isn't it just too fun seeing so much of Goggins? And good to see Shane being playful and goofy again! I hope he'll consider a comedy series when TS is done. Poor Ronnie... again, a couple of scenes and a couple of lines. Ever the bridesmaid

episode 12, according to tvtome.com, has Rebecca Pidgeon making a return as Joanna Faulks. You know something messed up happens w/ Dutch and her at some point in this episode. Why would they bring her back except to interact w/ Dutch somehow? He wanted her, so either they hook up, or he stalks her, or something else even more weird happens.
Another comment; after reading the season finale snippet on the same site, I think Glenn Close will be done after this season, maybe appearing in one episode to close things out in season 5. She only signed a one-year deal and, while she's not "above" doing TV work, she's certainly more seasoned than the rest of the cast and probably wants to get back into movies; she even hinted at that when they interviewed her before the start of the season. Thoughts on that? I think she's gone after going berzerk in the season finale.

I've been watching and trying to concentrate on the show with a heavy heart. Having a real personal problem right now but did want to continue posting and staying involved.
I thought this ep was excellent and yes, CHICK, I will comment on the Billings situation. Part of me would have done the same if I were him. Too close to retirement to get your ass killed at a car wash. I would not have covered it up however. He probably would have been killed and that would have been taken into consideration during an investigation. We have a job to do but it doesn't say we have to be heroes every minute.
I guess everyone can see the exit sign for Captain Rawling. She will leave due to the seizure program being changed. She stated that she was one of two female captains and they were probably going to loose her. Perhaps we will be getting another female captain next season?? The new female will probably be younger and flying by the seat of her pants just like Vic. But that's just my observation.

I've heard she's got a daughter graduating next year and wants to spend time at home. I am guessing several months of heavy duty, deadline type filming is very grueling.

I really liked this ep. Glen Close rules, man. She is on a slow boil! We got to see a bit of her temper when Army the Brat walked off from her and Shane. I agree that her exit will be siezure-related. I can't wait to find out what she does, though!! I was skeptical about this season going in, but my fears have been eased with every new ep.
The "Not The Strike Team" Team stuff was great in this episode. I'm glad Army showed his true colors before any shit went down. It's good to know if someone isn't going to take a bullet for you! And Lem shot someone to save Shane. Awwwwwww...... can you feel the philadelphia? hehe
It looks like Claudette could be Captain next season. I don't think I would like that, but it could happen. I enjoy her and Dutch being partners too much. She's a woman, and a minority, and that would placate the citizens on The Farm.
Lots of talk around the net about this season being a "stand alone" season, and that season 5 will be tied more directly to season 3. Tying up the Tavon story, bringing Mara back in (hisssssss), having Claudette as Captain, etc.
Just some random thoughts.

I really liked this ep. Glen Close rules, man. She is on a slow boil! Really! You know the old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words"? She put a twist on that with "an expression is a worth a thousand words," didn't she?! That was one of the scenes Peach and I got to see being filmed. I got a kick out of the variations in the different takes when she exploded and yelled "TOO LATE!!!", ha ha. Army was good and consistent throughout the numerous takes. Claudette taking over is certainly the buzz of a lot of speculation. I don't know. I'm with you ... I don't think I like the idea. If they go that way, the writer's will have their work cut out for them -- she's obviously either gonna have to change her way of thinking or she'll drown in the quicksand of her own high and mighty moral idealism. Who DO we want for the new captain? Someone start a new thread!

Thanks, Chem (can I call you that??), I will check that out post-haste!
I'm looking forward to these next 2 eps, but at the same time I'm dreading it. Once it's over, it's over until goddamned 2006!! I understand the riggors of filming; I know it's draining on crew, writers, actors, and everyone, but I DON'T CARE!!! lol I WANT TS 24/7/365!!! Once the S4 story is told, I'll be out of fresh product! I swear, it's like a physical addiction to a drug (so I hear); I can't get enough and I always, ALWAYS want more!
The time between S1 and the release of S1 dvds nearly drove me out of my mind. I hadn't recorded any eps, and wasn't online, so all I had was my memory (which sucks ass). At least after I got my dvds, I always had SOME Shield to watch in a pinch. Now I have all 3 seasons, and it satisfies me to a point, but what I crave is new material. See, I told you it's a sick, obsessive thing I have going on here........

Sometimes memory is good...it's always nice to unplug for a while (no online, no DVDs/TV). get out and breathe some fresh air this summer, then come back in the winter w/ a strong urge for more shield Thanks, Chem (can I call you that??), I will check that out post-haste! Thanks, Chem (can I call you that??), Sure, that's my unofficial nickname. CHIKchick and I were chatting about how we're gonna keep things going during the offseason, which is painful for us all. One thing we talked about was going back and discussing an ep per week, starting with S01-01; i.e., the pilot. We could do a "best lines" poll, discuss character development, plotlines, etc. Would something like that interest you? I think it would be fun, solidify the evolution of the show in our minds and, best of all, GIVE US A FIX! We can get back to this subject in a new thread ... I'm not sure when the best time to start that thread would be. Anyone can do it, of course.

Man, I am continually impressed with Glen Close. Check out her face during the meeting with the ass chief and th community leaders (Antwon lovers). When he tells the people he is reevaluating the seizures, the camera is on her. She diesn't say a word and the expression on her face barely changes, but tells all. Wow. Rawling is a great character, and I hope she plays a role in the storyline long after she's left the Barn.

There are rumors that she will have a couple of cameo appearances next year in order to pave the way for a return in S06. I don't if that's true ... even if it is, that's a long way off. But we can always hope!
