Well, now...how great was that one! Woo! I knew that Shane would go to Vic and I knew it would be that kind of scene. It just couldn't be done any other way. What I didn't expect was the mix of emotions in Vic...wow. I think we were looking at the Emmy clip for both Chiklis and Goggins! I am so glad to see Goggins' range this year. From a**hole to crybaby! And watching Chiklis...I wonder where he "went" for all of that emotion. I was wanting a tear, though. One. That would have made it perfect (for me) But then maybe it was more about being horrified at what has happened to their friendship. Did you have any doubts about him shooting Shane? Even for a second? When he said, "I guess it's you." I was wondering! How about the backpack of money scene? Again, powerful. I half expected Dutch to appear, in a towel! Now that would have crapped on Vic's day big time. I am starting to think Dutch is going to pull away because it has dawned on him he is messing with the mother of Vic's kids--and not just some girl he met--he'll chicken out. And I think Corrine will pull away because she knows the money is tainted and Dutch might find out. I sure hope she remembers to move it before Dutch comes over and starts cooking! He might need a salad bowl and find a blue backpack instead! And Vic and Danny...at it again! Yeah! I like those two together, though Danny is a fool. But she is lonely. Did it seem realistic to you? It seemed like she hated Vic for a while there and was disgusted by him. I think it's all about lust. They satisfy a sexual urge in each other, but there will be emotional consequences. We can count on that much! Maybe Danny will betray Vic this time? A scorned woman never forgets...and hell hath nothing close to a woman scorned a second time. Ass-invader and Sarah! My goodness! He has really lost his marbles (and his rocks). I can't believe he wants to hear the ridiculous stuff this woman says to him during sex. I burst out laughing when she babbled about "huge" and "too powerful." I think she's doomed for sure, btw. Threatening to tell pretty much signed her death warrant. And if A's need for power keeps escalating, well, strangling her would be the ultimate expression of the power he wants to feel. Dutchboy and Wyms...some comic relief. Good to see them having some fun again and working together. Typical Shield...shock and repulse us one minute, crack us up with Dutch gushing in pride after his tackle-bust of the coffee bandit! But the Capt moving into the hood. Oh, pull-eeze! She is selfish and stupid for putting the Capt of Farmington at risk. It's nonsense and irresponsible. However, a convenient opportunity for Vic to spy the Cpt's girlfriend, eh? Good good stuff. I give this ep an A almost plus. The ending itself could have been the season finale so I am expecting a VERY powerful finale. PS. do you think all of these relationships (Vic/Shane, Shane/Strike Team, Wyms/Dutch, Danny/Vic, Shane/Lem) are too damaged to ever be what they were, or even close? Is payback betrayal inevitable? Sorry if this doesn't make sense... it's past my bedtime!

You are right, all of the major relationships in the series are damaged in one way or another. (though Vic and Danny seem to have made out...I mean, up!) Life is often like this. I know I have damaged relationships because of circumstances or misunderstandings, though never intentionally. And the more you care about someone, the worse the damage can be!
Despite the chuckling, I don't think Wyms will ever really trust Dutch again. He may be an ass at times, but he's always lived up to a higher standard. Remember when he planted the bra clasp and then went back to get it? What he did, he did for the good the partnership, but Wyms is a moral hardass and self-righteously so. She's in the wrong place if she thinks that will work in Farmington! They might start to function as a team again, but Wyms will always be watching her back now. And that kind of change in their relationship will ultimately destroy it because police work is all about counting on your partner, trusting him/her with your life.
Am I right, Copperhead? You don't know the history of these two but I am not sure that's necessary. Will their partnership ever function fully again? Will they ultimately move on to other partners?

I know I have damaged relationships because of circumstances or misunderstandings, though never intentionally. And the more you care about someone, the worse the damage can be! I agree! As for Vic and Danny, I think they've never had a really *solid and trusting* relationship since it was based on breaking trusts to start with (Vic's cheating). They both have rollercoaster lives and the relationship shows that. Will be interesting! The others? I think it's gonna revive the tag "Trust No One". ;-) None of the partnerships will ever have the level of trust they once did. And now with a room full of people going after each other it's just going to be worse. They will go to those they distrust the least to try and form aliances yet still have to watch their backs. Ky

OK, OK, I know I'm *way* behind on posting about our visit to the set...working on it...but just HAD to reply to this thread... First - I thought this ep was awesome, totally agree with ChikChick, an A, almost A+. Second, and more importantly, during Chem and my visit to the set, Adam mentioned two upcoming eps (at that time) which he though were "particularly good" - and one of them was this one - ep 8 - but the other one was ep 10...and if ep 8 was this good, I can't wait til ep 10, because he *really* gushed about that one. Just a little teaser for you guys...they keep getting better and better huh!!! ~peach, queen of tardy posts

Maybe I should change your new rank to Queen of Tardy Posts? Or how about Queen Tease? ha ha ha. I'm just teasing YOU now. I know you've been climbing Everest (inside joke).

But it's true that I'm the one with MDD (memory deficit disorder ). So, are you saying that we can expect ep10 to be a 10? <OK, OK ... I can hear the groans>

Great synopsis--I agree with almost everything you said. Definitely can't argue that it was a great ep! Wow! No kidding--great moments for both Chiklis and Goggins! This is the only thing I disagree with. I think there was too much anger in Vic and don't think a tear would have fit. I do think it was perfect for Shane, though. There was a fleeting moment there--going against all logic (i.e., killing Shane off would have put a serious crimp in the show's future]. Great point! That would have been too funny. Well, maybe I disagree here, too. If Dutch would've been thinking straight, he never would have even CONSIDERED hitting on Corrine. I think you're right--she's more rational than Dutch -- let's hope her memory is good, too. I'm not sure I liked this scene. But I can see all your points and I have to agree it does have some credulity. The potential for fireworks is definitely there. I don't see Danny as the kind who would betray Vic, though. She's too classy a chick. . Oh dear ex-Captain Dave ... you're really losing it, my man. What you're doing is about as dumb as me giving in to temptation with one of my students. Definitely a no-no. Career-buster! I watched that scene in slo-mo replay and it looked like the coffee missed him by too much to explain the size of the stain on Dutch's jacket ... but that's for a different thread. Did anyone else think that the place looked a little too fancy or at least too big for being "in the hood"? Definitely an A or A+![/quote] I see the Shane/Strike team (and hence the Shane/Lem) relationships as being the most difficult to salvage. It made a lot of sense to me.

Did anyone else think that the place looked a little too fancy or at least too big for being "in the hood"? Definitely an A or A+! OK, I had to go look again to see the place again. I disagree. The outside looks right. A bit run down, nothing fancy, proper "screen" door. then the inside, you actually see *3* areas and none appeared that big. (If I had to guess, I'd say you're looking at what is probably around a 900-1050 sq. ft. place. Don't know if it's 1 or 2 bedrooms) Things weren't that polished and wiring was hanging out. Things definitely needed repaired. And the glimpse of that kitchen..... I've rented places that were better than the glimpse I got of that place and I wasn't always in the best places. Oh yeah, don't let the hardwood floor fool you. Many houses (esp. built back in the 60s and such in Cali) have BEAUTIFUL hardwood floors that have been covered up. Many times the occupants don't even *know* what they've got. ;-) Ky

Your earlier post was interesting, too: Made me wonder, does *anybody* in the barn trust anyone else anymore? I think the most trust is among Lem, Ronnie and Vic. Who knows how long thatwill last?!

Tuesday the load should lighten and I'll try to rewatch ep7 that night.

Who knows how long thatwill last?! hehehe. Hardwood floors will get ya every time. ;-) I really don't think anyone truly trusts anyone in the Barn anymore. And the trio you mentioned, Lem lost some trust with the money thing, Everyone's seen Vic do things that *should* make them not 100% trust him (right down to killing a team member in the first ep), and Ronnie? He's always in the background, watching. I think he's seen enough to not really trust anyone 100% either and not sure if anyone has enough about him to truly trust him either. But he's about the only one who might be. (but the others know enough about life in general that I doubt they trust anyone 100% anyways.... Ky

Wow Ky - u just gave me a perfect segue into something I've been wanting to talk about for awhile now, at least since last season, maybe before...And that's Ronnie. Why don't we get to see/hear/know much about him? I'm going to start a separate thread under this topic for it - be sure to check it out and let me know what you think!!! ~Peach

I noticed the hardwood floor right away and had the same reaction. A few hanging wires didn't convince me it was run down, though that's the impression they hoped to give us. What didn't seem realistic is the good condition that floor was in. Most often they are damaged from not being treated or sitting under a carpet. It takes a lot of work to restore them, something I doubt the owner would bother doing in the hood just to sell it.
And exactly why was Vic in the Capt's new house in the first place? Seemed like she had her mind set on buying the place so she didn't need his opinion. And she wasn't trying to get her deposit back via Vic muscle. Do you think deep down she was counting on his protective instincts?

But if they had just ripped up the carpet recently then that's the type of floor you'll find. I've seen it happen quite a few times. Doesn't take long to rip a carpet up. (I can do it in a day even with furniture inside) And often times when someone goes to sell, one of the first things they will do is rip up the carpet and replace it. Or, if they find a beautiful floor, leave it and increase the price! That is a question! Ky

probably right on the capt., deep down, counting on vic's protection...but i forget, did she invite him over or did he catch wind of her home purchase and stop on over? i forget who initiated. maybe i was just too into that scene w/ dani and vic later on. damn, woman knows what she wants...forcing his hand down her pants and what not...gotta love that. dating a woman cop would be great. hmmm....
oops. anyway, going through withdrawal after this one-week hiatus and can't wait for episode....9? are we already at ep. 9?? my god, it'll be nip/tuck season 3 before you know it. you know, i've really warmed up to that show. who else here likes it?

Fuji!! (hope you don't mind my nickname for your nickname!) Where have you been?? We've missed your voice around here! I had the impression the Capt invited Vic to her new house because he thought, at one point, she was asking him to get her deposit back. I am going to watch it again tomorrow...that one's definitely a multiple-watcher! I like Nip/Tuck a lot, but I haven't kept up with it. I am already a Shield slave!
