So what did you think of the ongoing conversation re: Claudette's offer to introduce Dutch to a friend? Was she offended by his reaction (asking if the friend is black)? Why did she rebuff his interest after this inquiry? Why would Claudette offer at all and then be surprised Dutch would ask? Was that unfair or just naive of her? Would you ask if you were in a similar situation--or just wait to see? Would it even matter to you? If so, why? Is it racist to want to know ahead of time... or are there other reasons? AND was Dutch really *flirting* with Corrine Mackey??

Ok, I am going to answer my own questions...and you will please disagree or agree and make many comments, no?
Does color matter? Still, yes, unfortunately. I would want to know...not out of any racist reasons... Just because you like to be prepared on appearances...like, so you don't stare when surprised. We all have those pesky preconceived notions. WE ALL do. So no biggie. Let's be fair about it.
Speaking of fair, I think Claudette was being UNfair. White people would ask just as black people would ask in the reversed situation. I think she would have done better to say, why yes! (to the "is she black?" question) and move on. In this respect, I think she lacks more social graces than does our dear Dutchboy!
Ok, mentioning Beyonce was not a good call... but we can forgive that. A "sister" would do this tight-white boy a world of good...and it might just be love at first sight. Claudette needs to get over the color thang already.

Why did she rebuff his interest after this inquiry? I don't think she was really offended. I think it was more of "fine. I tried but I don't know why I bothered." type thing. Though I'm sure it offended her somewhat. I also think it was more the way he asked. Heck, I would have been tempted to smack him myself! again, see above. I think it was more she decided to try and help him despite knowing she probably shouldn't bother. Then to get that reaction, it reconfirms that she shouldn't bother. She said the woman was dark skinned to start with. Why would there be a need to ask? I don't get it but maybe that's just me. I think it's safe to say HECK YEAH HE WAS! Ky

I second what Ky said - its more about the WAY he asked or anything...to me he had this sortof sick fascination combined with incredulity in his voice... hard to describe...but I do understand her reaction. I don't know why she bothers with Dutch, if things go my way they're going to make him a serial killer esp. after the incident with the 'kitty' last season...

if things go my way they're going to make him a serial killer esp. after the incident with the 'kitty' last season... Ha ha! I love it ... that's what I want for Dutch, too. And last year I even posted to another fansite that I thought Dutch would kill a human before the season ended. He's got all the symptoms: loser with women, insecure and just strange all around ... punctuated by the look on his face when he strangled that cat. So, maybe he still will. As far as chikchick's Qs (good Qs, by the way, CC): 1. I do think Claudette was offended a little. 2. Hell no, I wouldn't ask. I "dated" a sister once and would have kept seeing her if not for the fact that I had to move out of state and get married. I guess that also answers whether or not it would matter to me. I didn't think Dutch was being racist. Well, not overtly anyway. But then he stuck his foot further into his mouth by saying he found lots of black chicks attractive ... and proceeded to name Halle, Tyra and Byonce. Gee, Dutchboy, don't go out on a limb, now!

I am entirely too tempted to say something about the symbolism involved in Dutch strangling (forgive me) a pussy. It's just too easy...the writers don't go obvious, so I am skeptical he will ever kill anything else. In other words, Chem, wishful-ass thinking!

Glad to see I'm not the only "Dutch for Serial killer" one on here! and yes, it was the kitten scene that made me think of him as the SK type. Ky

And many I've heard comment on it don't see him as a SK and combine that with them not continuing that thread sets things up wonderfully for the potential to have him become a criminal. Ky

Care to wager a little dough on our opposing thoughts?? only prob with wagering on that is time limit. They could cancel the series before having a chance. I doubt it'd be this season. Not sure about next. With only 13 eps.... it's one of those things you have to make sure people aren't thinkin' about and give it years if possible. Ky

"cluck, cluck, cluck" <--that would be the sound of a CHICKEN ;D hehehe, well, if we knew for sure it'd be around for another 3 or so years I'd take the bet. But, with as good as it is, I wouldn't swear to a season 5 knowing the film industry. Ky

O.MY.GOD. Poor, dorky Dutch!! Video-taping him with his date was *so* cruel...and funny, of course! But the scene made me feel very sorry for him. Dutch means well in everything he does, but he's surrounded by bullies and controlling women, which brings out the worst in him. Still, I like him more this year than any year before. He's growing on me... kind of like <genus> sporothrix <fam> moniliaceau <order> moniliales. (ie, like a fungi!!) Here's a thought: what if the profound failure of this date drives (heh heh) poor Dutch into the arms of... Corrine Mackey?? Imagine Vic catching *that* date on the spycam!! What song do you suppose Dutchboy might be singing after that one?

Yeah, it was mean but I loved it! I still can't feel sorry for the guy! I've met guys like him and I just want to RUN AWAAAAAAY!!!!! I don't see him getting into Corrine's arms. I think she's smarter than that. ;-) I *can* see it driving him more nuts though and either the kitty strangling and/or kiddy porn from the past coming back into play. Ky

Do you really think Corrine is "smarter than that"? I see her as kind of a ding dong. She is not stupid, certainly as a nurse she must have intelligence, but I don't think she has a lot of common sense (ie, messing around with the therapist, not catching on to Vic's games earlier, thinking Vic would spend his nights alone while they were separated, etc) *And* I got the impression she was somewhat charmed by Dutch being flirtatious.
They're both wounded and searching for human comfort from the opposite sex... it doesn't take much more for two people to be drawn together!

As for the therapist, hey, him I had no prob with. He didn't scream "run away" to me like Dutch does. Regarding Vic and his games, there's a thing called Denial. ;-) We don't see things we don't *want* to see. She finally got to the point where she was willing (and had to for the safety of her kids) to see it though. She's wounded, yes. But I don't see her as Desperate. And I've found some poor souls charming in a sad way. Doesn't mean I'm gonna go out with them! So no, I don't see her going out with him. Well, not unless she started feeling really sorry for him but I doubt it! Ky
