I can say that I have been a die hard fan of The Shield since day one. I have watched each season at least 3 times and still enjoy going back to Season 1, Episode 1 and watching like it was my first time..... This is what I dont get.... For years now, we all have been rooting for Vic to weave his way in and out of trouble with every authority figure at the Barn. He gets in a bind and we cant wait to see how he gets out and we cheer inside cause Vic is "just that bad ass." We are ALL Vic Mackey fans in one way or the other, I am sure. The end justifies the means with Vic. He does what HE believes in. Reading this board I see that it seems everyone wants Vic to die, at the hands of anyone, even Cassidy. Die? I thought we were all Vic Mackey fans?? Sure he is the bad guy...But he is the bad guy that makes things happen, and never stops until the worse guy in locked up or dead. So why do we think he should die again? ?? Cause he has done bad things?? He does bad things, thats why he is VIC......

I'm a huge fan of all the characters, but I'm an even bigger fan of the writers. All of them.... especially Shawn, Glen, Kurt, Adam, and Scott. I can't wait to see how this story ends, and it doesn't matter to me so much whether Vic lives a life on the run or in jail, or dies at the hands of his daughter, a cop, a banger..... I just want to see how it all goes down.
Rooting for Vic to keep on going isn't so easy anymore. We all know the end is coming, we can see it going sideways for him, and we all know that Vic deserves some comeuppance for his atrocities. It's Karmic, Shakespearean, and Effing Cool.

Seeing what Vic gets away with will be interesting....
I don't want to see him get caught, I want to see him keep his badge (or quit on HIS terms) and get that second chance.....

You assume WAY too much, peoplepc3. We don't ALL root for Vic. I, for one, have always felt the show presented a remarkably interesting study in good vs. evil wrapped in the character of one man. BUT, as with almost any story in which the protagonist is an "anti-hero", I want Vic to pay for his sins in some powerful and befitting way. Is this way death? Not necessarily, but it's certainly in the realm of "appropriate" endings in my book.
I'm amazed, as Forest Whitaker apparently was, at the depths of forgiveness that TS fans have for Vic. I mean, this guy is a COP KILLER! A thief! A horrible husband and father figure. And, worst of all, a CORRUPT COP!! Yes, he brings down more than his fair share of bad guys too, but in the end who can possibly trust Vic Mackey with enforcing the law?
Corrupt cops, politicians, judges, lawyers, etc. are always the MOST painful corruptions in society because we, THE PEOPLE, give them the privelege, the responsbility, the HONOR of protecting us. When they shit upon that HONOR, they deserve to go down and go down hard.

i agree Vic is bad but in ur list u capitalized cop killer he didnt kill terry cause he was a cop terry just happened to be a cop that was gonna put him away,
i agree with everythign else u said noob, he is not a great husband in my opinion cause he cheats on his wife, i think he is a good father maybe he cant be a great role model because of what he does
but before Vic killed terry what has the worst he ever did? and after he killed Terry what was the worst he did?
if he had never killed terry would we look at him the same?
is no excuse i know, but i think we might all agree he has changed since then, maybe vic of now, would have found another way to get rid of terry? maybe i dont know
but i also agree with noob that not everyone roots for vic,
I know i do though, and though Vic always finds a way out, most of us feel the shield will end in a realistic way, wether he dies goes to jail or lives on somehow

I hate to say it but the more this unfolds the more I dislike Vic (expect for that moment of conscience to save Shane in ep 6) and the more I sympathize with Shane. Now you'd have to understand how I (we all) felt after he killed Lem. I could of never imagined myself saying this. I mean I always knew Mackey put himself first but this was obviously more so after Lem was killed. However, I've come to despise it the more he pushes and tries to work things in his favor. Keeping Ronnie on the sidelines while he's out working all angles for his best interest. Taking advantage of Shane's sincere desire to repent and put others first. Using the Pezula angle trying to keep his job while throwing faceless criminals under the bus. Etc. etc. He just exploits everyone for his own gain and puts everyone on the back burner. Granted if you took away the money, murder and criminal-cop aspect I'd say hey you're free to choose how you want to live. But all of these things have serious implications and they treat them so haphazardly. In closing, I am not saying Shane doesn't deserve consequence for what he did I am only saying they all do and I don't want to see Shane dumped in a ditch or killed by some "low-life" or "piece of shit" while Vic and Ronnie live the rest of their lives (series conclusions) unscathed. I know many want to see blood and murmur all kinds of sordid things about Shane but you are failing to see the dramatic dynamic of good and evil, complicated shade of gray you claim to love so much in the series.

In my opinion After locking up and killing all the drug dealers and murders and bangers......at the end of the day there is still one left. VIC, and no matter what happens in the end he has to face that he has become what he hates. the ends didnt justify the means because he couldnt put a bullet in the one person who deserved it most ......Shane.

i dont want vic to die or goto jail. thats too good for him. thats a satisfying fate reserved for ronnie or shane. Shane would be perfect for jail for being so racist all the time, hes gonna get raped by all the ppl hes been racists to and locked up

I am not at all sure where Shawn is going to go with this - but I am betting on jail with the hint that he'll be taken care of once in there. Also - the end for Vic, IMHO, is the knowledge that he lost everything - and everyone. No friends, no family, no kids, no woman, no job, no respect, and finally... no freedom....

I love Vic and I want him to get away with everything!!!!! I want to see him walk clear of all of this, if the show ends with Vic dead or in Jail, I will not be a happy camper. I want him to come across a huge score (like the money train) and see him ride off into the sunset!
I realize this probably will not happen, but I Root for Vic every week, and pray he will walk away free and clear.

^ I agree badcop187, maybe its because there's a little (maybe more) in us that do the police work. We know that we love to come as close to the line with out crossing over.
Almost every movie/ tv show out there, the good guy's win, why can for once, the bad guy's win?
edit:by accident I clicked modify instead of quote no changes Sorry BC

I have cheered for Vic, the thing is.......the show has always been gritty and very on point.
In my opinion, I can't see Vic walking away unhurt.
He won't go to jail, because he wouldn't be taken alive........
Sooner or later he has to pay for his original sin.......so does that mean he loses what means the most to him? His family?
I don't see him walking away with his badge, but it could happen...

I recently read an excellent book by Mark Bowden (Blackhawk Down fame) called Killing Pablo. It's about Columbian drug overlord Pablo Escobar, and his reign of terror in the 1980's and 90's. I'll spare you the details of the book, but I drew from it the idea of sometimes you have to hire a piece of crap to catch a piece of crap. That's what they did to eventually get Escobar.
My point is that Vic is the piece of crap that we use in our society to catch the other pieces of crap. His actions will no doubt spark long debates about good vs evil, right vs wrong. or does the end justify the means. I smell an impressive ethics term paper!
He has ALWAYS been a step ahead of everybody and managed to land on his feet, and we love him for that! Deep down inside we approve of his actions.
After watching tonights episode, I am convinced that Vic is going to get killed by Ronnie. There I said it. I don't have any inside information. It's a gut feeling. I just don't see him getting out of this. I thought he was going to live, but after he left Ronnie hanging out to dry. I made up my mind that he was not going to make it.
By the way...am I bad person for not feeling bad watching Wims break down over her inability to get Vic?

ICE obviously thinks so. This whole debate also relates to how the US uses "human intelligence" in trying to bring down al Qaeda etc. I need to remember to post this in my Shield post 9/11 thread in hot topics board. I saw a good documentary - history channel maybe? about "killing pablo". looks like a good book. i'll have to put that on on my list.

Personally, I want to see Ronnie walk away from all of this. I want a Vic/Shane showdown with Vic killing Shane--bare hands. Then I want Olivia to show up, get caught in some sort of crossfire and die. Dutch and Claudette pop on the scene with Vic killing Claudette and then shooting, but not killing Dutch. Then I want Ronnie to come out of no where, tell Vic that he knows that he rolled on him, and pop Vic right between the eyes. Than, as Dutch is lying there bleeding, go over and shoot him right beneath his right eye.
That scenario is very "Departed", I know, but Ronnie is one of those guys who operates in shades of gray. Yeah, he's done some bad shit but Vic has also kept him the dark like a parent keeps their children shielded from bad things. The only crime in which Ronnie was really complicit was the money train robbery. He killed the guy who was going to kill Vic's family, too, but is killing a piece of shit like that really wrong?
