Will this moment be in the final minutes of the show? Will it be apart of a musical montage? . Maybe it is a literal "lights out" moment. Claudette turning off the lights at The Barn for the last time, since the precinct is closed over the scandals related to the Strike Team and former Capt Aceveda being made public....That would definitely be an ending with some finality

I wish it could be 'Trouble' by Coldplay - leaving the finale as it left season 1: Vic crying as his family has left him.
'The End' by The Doors would be just as good, though.

After posting this response to f*ckernando in the "Justice for Mackey" thread, I thought it also fit the theme of this thread well: So, f*cker, with that nod to the Mighty Met, you're suggesting that Justice for Mackey should be akin to something on the Metallica "Justice" album? OK, since Lem was killed by a grenade, how about THIS for Mackey (lyrics from Metallica's "One" taken strictly from old rusty memory): Landmine! Has taken my sight Taken my speech Taken my hearing Taken my arms Taken my legs Taken my soul Left me with life IN HELL!!!!!!!!!! I could live with that ending Could be a great final scene of Mackey nodding his head, completely covered in bandages, rythmically trying to communicate "I'm a different kind of vegetable" in Morris code as one of the best Metallica guitar riffs of all time screeches in the background and the screen fades to black. YEEEAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!

I've seen it done elsewhere, but it would be a fitting way to end this show.

It fits the thematics of the show very well. "Now the sun's gone to hell And the moon's riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die But it's written in the starlight And every line on your palm We're fools to make war On our brothers in arms" What an ending that would be...

If the ending had to do with Shane killing Vic, or Ronnie killing Vic, or Aceveda or w/e, I think season 5's Disarm from the pumpkins would be Perfect "The killer in me is the killer in you" Although, I think that song woulda been 2000% perfect for the scene where Shane confesses to Lems death in front of Vic.

Here's an idea for an ending song.
Vic turns into the one thing he never wanted to become - Gilroy. He'll flee to Mexico like every other disgraced cop and lives out his life anonymously with no friends, family or, worst of all for him, power. All while always looking over his should for cartel revenge. He's some where in the middle of nowhere, alone and looking to what he had and the song that plays is "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd.
Just an idea.

How about this for a Shield song as Vic goes on the run, cops at his door and he totally wigs out and starts shooting and running shooting and running ... Sleeping very soundly on a saturday morning I was dreaming I was al capone Theres a rumour going round Gotta clear outa town Im smelling like a dry fish bone Here come the law gonna break down the door Gonna carry me away once more Never never I never want it anymore Gotta get away from this stone cold floor Crazy stone cold crazy you know Walking down the street Shooting people that I meet With my rubber tommy water gun Here come the deputy Hes gonna come and get me I gotta get me up and run They got the sirens loose I ran right outa juice Theyre gonna put me in a cell If I cant go to heaven Will they let me go to hell? Crazy stone cold crazy you know and definitely the Metallica version, NOT the Queen version ... bunch of crap at first, song starts at 2:45 ...

Every time I hear this song, I think it would be pretty good song to end the series. It's called Over Now by Alice in Chains.
yeah, it's over now but i can breathe somehow when it's all worn out i'd rather go without
you know it's been on my mind could you stand right here look me straight in the eye and say that it's over now
we pay our debt sometime
well it's over now yet i can see somehow when it's all gone wrong it's hard to be so strong
we pay our debt sometime
guess it's over now i seem alive somehow when it's out of sight just wait and do your time
you know it's been on my mind could i stand right here look myself in the eyes, and say that it's over now
we pay our debt sometime
