G'day from Australia's Blue Mountains region, west of Sydney. An 80 year old neighbour, who tapes EVERY crime series on TV, introduced me to THE SHIELD a few years ago. I missed the first few shows of season 1 but became addicted to it by the end of season 2. Have just finished the season 1 DVD set; that includes a second viewing with cast & crew comments. So I've yet to buy the season 2 set and have a long way to go. It doesn't bother me; it's great having all those hours of great viewing ahead of me! Favourite character is 'Dutch' though there isn't a character I don't enjoy. They're all great characters, played by the best actors in the business. Cheers

Thanks for the welcome, folks. Much appreciated. Cold up here mid-winter; perfect weather for veging out on DVDs.
Re BLUE MURDER, if you're referring to the Roger Rogerson story, yep, I saw and enjoyed it when it screened in NSW. I've a clipping of an interview with Roger filed away somewhere, of his comments after seeing the movie/tv mini series. Haven't seen the DVD, though. Pretty much a cross section cast of Aussie crime series actors.

Re 'Blue Murder' query from aussieangel, here's the IMDb link us.imdb.com/title/tt0112538/and a main cast list Richard Roxburgh .... Roger Rogerson Tony Martin .... Arthur "Neddy" Smith Steve Bastoni .... Michael Drury Gary Day .... Bill Crofton Steve Jacobs .... Mal Rivers Peter Phelps .... Abo Henry Marcus Graham .... Alan Williams Alex Dimitriades .... Warren Lanfranchi Bill Hunter .... Angus McDonald Gary Sweet .... Christopher Dale Flannery John Hargreaves .... Chester Porter QC Roger Rogerson was a real life Aussie Vic Mackey, famous as a thief-taker but his past exploits caught up with him eventually, mainly in respect of his liason with Sydney underworld figures like Neddy Smith. Hmm, tiptruck is more in the "outback" than I am.... I haven't really heard of Outback Steakhouses.... I could be wrong, but I think they'd be known as Outback Pubs that would have steak on the menu!

Aussieangel's probably right. It's over 20 years since I travelled through Central Australia. There were, and probably still are, roadhouses for interstate truckies where the usual meal would be a steak the size of Vic's biceps The biggest steak I've ever had was in the Captain Moonlight motel near Yass, NSW. (It's probably been torn down by now.) Took me 45 minutes to eat my way through it. I was the only guest at the time, on my way from Melbourne to Sydney, mid-80s, come home from the World SF con.

^ striketeamwashere was being a .... hmmmm. I hate to use the word dork here. Outback Steakhouse is a restaurant chain popular here in the states, mates. Lots of what Americans consider stereotypical Aussie fare; Shrimp on the Barbie, Bloomin Onion.... and pictures/artwork with kangaroos everywhere. No vegemite sandwiches... Their steaks are wonderful and HUGE, though.
