The Shield returns to UK screens on:
Friday 29 June | 11:00pm - 12:00am | Five
(this coming Friday)
The Radio Times blurb:
Part of me is depressed that Five doesn't see fit to show this remarkable LA-based cop drama until 11pm, but part of me can see their point: The Shield is so dark it belongs at a time when children won't stumble on it and when adults at least have recourse to a stiff drink. It's the only show I've seen where some scenes - such as the horrifying hostage sequence in tonight's opener to season six - are so scary they practically put you into fight-or-flight mode. When babies start getting doused in gasoline by crazed gunmen, I'm in trouble. Although, the babies aren't actually doused, they're just in the vicinity: that's one strength of the series - it suggests more than it shows. Fans will be glad to know that the superb Forest Whitaker is still on board as an internal affairs cop pursuing our antihero Vic Mackey as if he were Moby Dick. And newcomers, don't worry if the intricacies of the back story leave you baffled; just let the raw brilliance of the show do its worst.
RT reviewer - David Butcher
I know a lot of people in the UK will have allready seen this but I'm excited because C5 showed about 4/5 ads for it (including one to Johny Cash) during CSI:NY tonight ;D and it's nice to see the Shield getting some ad-love!
