from pifeedback.com:
The Shield (FX, 10pm) - 1.873 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 1.0/3 A18-49
Those numbers are depressing. The only good thing is that the show is stable regarding its viewership is the 18-49 demo, which is apparently what really counts for the advertisers.
EDIT: After doing some searching on the pifeedback site, I found that the season 5 premiere had 2.25 million viewers in the 18-49 demo, as opposed to the about 1 million viewers that this season's episodes are getting.

Apparently lots of people seem to NetFlix it? When I went to apply for a summer job at Blockbuster I was talking about The Shield (he asked what my favorite TV show was) and he said his friends told him it had jumped the shark and was old......I told him that he needed to find some better friends, he laughed his ass off. (I'm 99% sure I have the job, I just need to the criminal background report finished....since I haven't killed anyone [yet] I should get it.) ***Yet meaning that I haven't met Shane yet***

This show isn't getting near the hype The Riches and Rescue Me is getting. There are at least 5 RM commercials per episode of The Shield. "The Riches" show is even being advertised on local cable channels.
The Shield got, what? Two commercials?

It shouldn't matter to us, we're watching the better show B) Plus the final season is pretty much gauranteed and hopefully back in its original Jamuary slot. FX will realise the big mistake they made with this show

It's really not that big of a deal. Shows almost never end their runs at the peak of their popularity. And I can't really hate FX that much for wanting to dedicate most of their promotion to newer shows that'll be around longer.

Suppose your right, but it would be nice to see 'a little' extra loving to the show that made FX what they are today

I know they have eps on sale for 1.99$ each when or after they air. Does anyone know if they have always done this? Plus we have to consider the French connection, a lot of people have got them off the net and some may have not watched them as they aired here in the U.S. There is still other numbers that just aren't watching. You guys still think it has nothing to do with killing off Lem (not filling the void)?

You guys still think it has nothing to do with killing off Lem (not filling the void)? The French Connection is definately a factor, in my opinion. I'll make it a point to watch it on FX, but I know many people who don't see the point of watching FX if they can see the episode earlier.... They did that with my two favorite shows this year. Statgate SG-1, like The Shield, usually starts in January here, but Sci-Fi Channel pushed it back to March this year. The whole season aired on Sky TV in the UK before it even started here. Then FX does the same thing with The Shield, so Canal+ in France airs it ahead of us. Many die hard fans of these shows will watch them as soon as they are available ANYWHERE! Of course, the ratings for both of these shows, in the US, will be lower this season.... What's up with these US channels? These are both signature shows for these networks! It really pisses me off!

So the ratings aren't a reflection of this season's integrity but a relfection of FX(or whoever)'s handling of their show's distribution? Is that pretty much the consensus?

So the ratings aren't a reflection of this season's integrity but a relfection of FX(or whoever)'s handling of their show's distribution? Is that pretty much the consensus? Well, I do know some people who said they won't watch anymore because they were so upset Lem died. I also know a lot of people wouldn't have even known the show was back again if I didn't tell them. I think this Season is one of the best. So I don't think the quality of the Season has much to do with it, but that's my opinion. I really think FX dropped the ball this Season with pushing the show back and lack of promotion....

In my opinion....someone dropped the ball when they let France and some other countires air advanced episodes....causing a leak of media....
Now tons of folks have seen episodes, and aren't watching tuesday night....
Just my thoughts though...
