Ok, I have bought all of Season 3, and have watched 8 episodes so far. I am so disgusted by the Aceveda BJ scene. I think they went overboard in putting that in. I mean they could have hinted at it a little more, but no, they had to show the prolonged experience! Nevertheless, what are you favorite episodes from season 3? Did they ever find out who took the 7 grand? Or will i have to continue to watch?

The top three season three episodes (in my opinion) are: 315 On Tilt 314 All In 304 Streaks and TipsThe last two episodes of season three are just awesome!

So what it Vic or Shane who took the money ? Or was it neither of them? I really liked 304 alot, and haven't gotten to 314 or 315 yet. Ive done pretty well watching all the way through episode 8 of season 3 in two days, and managing to balance school at the same time.

I won't spoil it for you who it was, you'll find out soon enough. I doubt you'll be able to guess who it was, but it makes sense once you know. I actually guessed it once among my group of friends and stuck to the theory even though I really had no idea. I was surprised to see that I was right when the episode aired (I don't remember which specific Season 3 ep it is, but it's a few episodes before the finale....) Just finish watching the season. Trust me, when you watch the Season Three finale, there's no way you'll even consider skipping Season Four....

Wow, I think Season 3 is pretty dark. It is almost bugging me. I didnt like the aceveda bj scene and i didnt like when Dutch strangled the cat. That was messed up.

Darkness is cool in certain perspectives. Season 3 didn't appeal to me that much either until I saw it all the way through. Finish it up; you'll see what I mean....

i didn't think the rape scene was that bad....

As unpleasant as it was, I think that the rape needed to be shown. The key to Aceveda's character has been power - its been his sole motivation since day one. The rape put a fresh spin on this characteristic by taking power away from him in a very graphic, and obviously degrading manner.
If we hadn't have had to sit through it with him it would also be more difficult to sympathise with him during Season 4 when he's trying to excercise his demons via the prostitute.

The ep with Aceveda's rape scene (What Power Is) aired over the weekend.... that whole episode is remarkable.
I gotta say Season 3 is pretty dang cool - I forgot how much I loved Trish! It's great that they are airing all the seasons; I'll bet the season finale for S4 is the weekend before S5 starts!! Wooooooo!

i gotta say i liked seeing the bj scene (looked like brandon irons produced it in slaphappy- anybody who gets that reference will get a laugh), it was so real, gave you the full understanding of what happened, and after all the shit hes given the strike team, i was kinda happy to see it, even though it was pretty filthy and about as degrading as it could get

I still cant watch the end of that episode. I skip that scene and move right to the next episode. I can't watch it. I have 4 cats of my own and I can't stand to see any animal abused.

An episode or two before we find out Mara took the cash, there's a scene of her bugging Shane on his cell phone for money to give her Mom. It's a good subtle setup and I didn't catch it. Finding out she did it was so unexpected and so...right.
Yes, Aceveda's rape scene was gruesome and considering where they decided to take the story, it was necessary. I've watched Season 3 complete like, 4 or 5 times and while watching 'Mum,' (the rape episode), I get really disgusted by Vic's assault on Juan. They show in that scene what they couldn't show in the later scene with David. Seeing Vic shove that bong down his windpipe is pretty brutal, especially the way they hold on it. Vic is really quite orally fixated.

With the style and freedom The Shield staff has, that scene can't actually be surprising. If you watch this show, no matter where in it you started or got hooked, you immediately know thay anything and everything can and likely will happen. Just when you think "No, they wouldn't show 'that' on TV!"....you have "that". Yes, a lot of stuff is gruesome, has a varying element of possibility, and will leave you wondering if something you see can or has happened in the real world.

I know what you mean, but its a show and i know its fake so it doesnt bother me I still wish they kinda played out dutch/cat thing, maybe build it some more, make him darker.. maybe this season? who knows.. i think something "big" is going to happen to dutch before the series comes to a close (as in big like him murdering someone)

^ Maybe Vic hires him to off Shane. Dutch killed the cat and Shane can be one.

I was getting The Shield DTs because I had expected to be watching new episodes by now , so I got out my DVDs and have been watching them in marathons for the past week or two. I posted the following observations on Season 3 on the imdb boards, but they were swept under by a bunch of "When is the next season going to air?"-type threads. So I'm going to try this again with a slightly more well-informed crowd:
(1) Not sure why nothing ever came of the flirtation between Vic and Trish. She seemed to be able to keep up with him verbally, at least --but then he opted for the skinny blonde corpse-hunter with the huge psychotic boyfriend. Weird.
(2) I am absolutely heartbroken for David Aceveda in this season. Not only because of the rape, which was unforgettable, but for some things I had forgotten about. Like, the obvious struggle that he had just to get through the first few days afterwards. The fact that Dutch and Claudette were out searching for elderly "robbery" victims with a strange, sad, disconnected look on their faces and grilling them almost as if they were suspects, trying to get them to admit that they had been raped and to start to seek help; and there was Aceveda the whole time, distracted, pulling himself around the Barn with the exact same look on his face --and nobody sees it. A couple of people raise their eyebrows and shrug, Claudette tells him he looks like hell; but he only has to mumble an excuse once and then he's left alone again. And I also forgot Aurora's reaction when he finally tells her, which is in a sense, almost as bad as the assault itself. After all, David's whole reason for submitting to the rape was to be able to see his wife and child again. And then Aurora as good as tells him that if he couldn't get away from them, he should just have taken the bullet. She's as repulsed by him as if he had done something horrible to her. This may explain in part why Aceveda chooses to take his anger and power trip issues out on women in Season 4.
(3) I still can't watch Dutch strangle the cat. I watched it the first time because I couldn't believe they would actually just show the whole thing. Something would happen to stop it, I thought, or the camera at least would look away. Nope. Can't watch it.
(4) Every time Lem reaches for his antacids I get a sick feeling in my own stomach, knowing that his nervous digestive issues are part of what will eventually get him killed.
(5) One more thing about Aceveda: Watch the scene before he actually gets raped --when he's surprised and tackled from behind and Juan points the gun at his face. Notice how Aceveda, in his suit and clean shirt and shiny badge, stands there facing Juan with his arms out, smiling. "I'm a police officer", he says. And you can see that he really believes that Juan is going to acknowledge this and put his gun down. After all, you don't assault a police officer, right? Certainly not a police captain, right? But what does Juan do? POW! Right in the face with the gun. Knocks Aceveda on his ass. He doesn't even change expression. In a way, this is really where Aceveda loses his "innocence", as it were. Where his whole idea of his own power comes crashing down.
(6) I still hate Mara.
Walton Goggins and Michele Hicks did commentary on one of the episodes, and Walton explained quite matter-of-factly how he could totally understand why Mara would do the stupid selfish ignorant trashy things she did; that while he [Walton] acknowledged that some of Mara's choices weren't the best for everyone concerned and that their relationship did have some bumpy parts, he [Shane] really did love her and Mara's actions weren't all that out of line, really. . .
Yeah. Nice try, Walton. Still hate her.

I posted the following observations on Season 3 on the imdb boards, but they were swept under by a bunch of "When is the next season going to air?"-type threads. So I'm going to try this again with a slightly more well-informed crowd: Maybe Trish said 'bikini' when Vic wanted to hear 'Brazilian'? It's hard to feel sorry for someone who, like my brother-in-law once said, "wouldn't cross the street to piss on me if I was on fire." But, yeah, the way Aurora treated him was pretty hard to believe. Do you think maybe it was a cultural thing and she thought he betrayed his Latino "machismo"? The cat strangulation was nothing compared to David's BJ scene, IMO. I think I remember Glen Mazzara commenting on how outraged cat fanciers were by that scene ... the same peeps who weren't particularly upset at seeing humans engulfed by burning tires. Yeah, that poor Lem, the "fairest one of them all," had to be the first member of the ST to meet his fate was not only sad, but it really slapped us hard in the face to realize that our anti-heroes really are just that, after all ... anti-heroes. Just shows how out of touch that arrogant prick, Aceveda, was with the seamier side of his people. Remember how Aceveda felt like he had to prove himself ... that he deserved his position even while acknowledging that he was just a "test taker", as opposed to someone who worked his way up through the ranks? I think if he had spent time on the streets his attitude when facing Juan would have been a whole lot different. [/color][/b][/quote] And most share your feelings toward her [Mara] because they see her strictly as an antagonist to Vic. But there were also some interesting opposing views in the thread 'what about Mara?' (Season 5B board).
