I have always been a fan of Forrest Whitaker ~ I loved him in "Phonebooth" and "Article 99" (which is an awesome movie but it seems like not too many people have ever heard of it!). In this role he plays an a**hole. That's the first word that comes to mind. Of course since his character is from Internal Affairs and he's trying to bring Vic Mackey down any way he can we're going to all hate his guts anyway, right? Also to bring Lem into it and blackmail him into telling everything he knows about Vic is stooping pretty damn low, don't you think? I just wanted to reach into the TV and SMACK that guy upside his head!!! Then Aceveda getting involved...no surprise there. He's also stooped about as far as he can go, but I'm sure we'll get to see him stoop even farther. Grrrrr..... How DARE they try to get rid of Vic!! It'll never happen!!! #kez_12#

Not really - its his job. What else would you expect an IAD agent to do?
He has dirt on Lem and he wants to flip him in order to get a strong case against Vic. The Strike Team have done this plenty of times - offering one guy a reduced sentence if he gives up someone higher up. It's not blackmail - its perfectly legal.
I don't understand what you're saying. Would you prefer it if Vic had no enemies - no-one trying to take him down? It would be incredibly unrealistic if there weren't people like Aceveda, Terry and Kavanaugh trying to take Vic down - it would also be quite boring.
I'm sorry if I've misinterpreted your argument in either tone or content, but as I read it your what you're saying doesn't make much sense.
Edit: Of course, you've every right to root for Vic and want Kavanaugh to fail - it just seems strange that you're so incredulous that he would go after Vic.

IAD wants Vic and they are using their cards to get him. It seems that you don't like Whitaker for the role because you don't want to see Kavanaugh take down Vic. I think it's excellent casting.

Geeeeez! Okay, I admit it. I now see this entire thing from a different perspective and I realize I was wrong. There! I said it! I rarely admit that I'm wrong so this is a real treat for you guys. I thought I was wrong once a long time ago, but it turns out I was mistaken. Okay, I'm just kidding. Seriously though ~ Vic HAS done alot of things that should have landed him in jail for years if they could've proven it. I think Shane might end up saying something to the wrong person....he feels extremely guilty about Vic killing Terry because he was a cop. I knew it was only a matter of time before IAD got involved, and that Aceveda would do ANYTHING to help them bring Vic down. I think Aceveda talks out of both sides of his mouth, he always has. It will be very interesting this season to see how the Strike Team reacts to this IAD investigation and how far their loyalty goes to Vic and to one another.

I absolutely love Vic! He's my favorite other than Ronnie. Poor Ronnie. Got hit upside the head by Jesus Christ. He just can't win, can he?

My chief complaing against Whittaker is this whole thing he's trying to do with Corrine. He's crossing the line by approaching Vic's family like he is. What a snake... Its one thing to ask her questions... and another to lie and say that you have an autistic kid, and STALK HER so that you can try and get a date set-up and get dirt on Vic... with intentions of screwing him, which in turns hurts her too. What a bastard!

What a bastard! Jon Kavanaugh just isn't nice. I don't think he'll make too many friends around the Barn as he digs deeper into Vic's past. I also think he's making a mistake with Aceveda. No one likes David anymore, not after he pulled the rug out from under Vic, Claudette, and Monica in the course of one and a half seasons.

i guess what pisses me off the most about forrest whitakers character is that so many other people like kavanaugh. the other thing that pisses me off is that even shawn ryan said he wanted to make forrest whitaker be the hero, so really makes the shit hit the fan with me.

As much as we all want to see Cavanaugh fail, the energy and passion his character brings to hunting Mackey is unparalleled. Aceveda, Rowling, and even Claudette never put this kind of energy into unraveling Mackey, or he'd have been in jail a long time ago. Claudette came the closest with the whole Tio bit and the ledger, but after that she stopped caring. Cavanaugh is the type that would continue his investigation long after being ordered to stop. His character is akin to that of Edward Norton's in "Red Dragon." Norton's character tried to BE a killer, just like Cavanaugh is trying to be Vic: Moving in on Corrine, Pushing Lem around, Smooth talking Aceveda to help him, and even when he met Vic.
Love 'em or hate 'em, you can't deny the fact he brings such a great energy to his task at hand, something that's a breath of fresh air coming out of last season where everyone was too busy trying to cover their own asses to be passionate about anything.
