OK.... I've decided to finally vote for S3. The Decoy Squad .... tension over the money.... MARA and her mom.... Tommy.... dang. Then 1, 2, 4. I can't decide where Season 5 should go yet. I'm still grief-stricken.

Season 5 was awesome, but I had to vote for Season 2... I loved the money line story but mostly, I loved the team as they were then. Hated the Ronnie burning though!!! (gr Armadillo!) I would have voted for Season 3 (but only up until the money-burning) because I loved that season too (and Ronnie with a beard! MMM). Although I absolutely loved Season 5, everything went to hell. The team never really got over the money issues and Lem ended up paying for Shane's sins. It probably is the most drama-filled season, but just the fact they are starting to pay for their crimes

I think I would have to vote season 3, I thought everything fell together so well, and the money train story line was just amazing, it was a real turning point for the strike team and it finally came down to lem making a stand for what was right, season 2 was very close, it actually let us see a little more of ronnie, who I hope can have a bigger part in the next 2 seasons, I liked season 5 but it made me very sad. I miss Lem

I definitely gotta change my vote... can't up top, but oh well. Season 3 is awesome! I do love them all, but it's the most packed full of goodness. I like the planning for the money train and the execution [loved how Ronnie waved to them as he left, hah] but I think I love the down fall more. And although I hate Lem burned the money because it split up the team, it was a great moment. His little speech was really sweet, "You guys are the only family I got..." Aw. Plus, I gotta add the yummyness factor of Ronnie without the porn star look; the beard looks so hot not to love... And I liked the Decoy Squad too, as long as they didn't overshadow the Strike Team. I like Season 4, but it was more Shane-based, and just showed how much of a screw-up he is. But I liked the change. That's what keeps the show so great, the seasons are so diverse, that each one is awesome in their own way. Season 5 is just too painful to watch right now. Fabulous acting though, even though I think [and don't hurt me] that Whitaker is a great actor, but not nearly as everyone seems to credit him. Goggins and Johnson have been doing amazing work throughout the years, and have been getting better, and Whitaker comes in and everyone OOH and AHH's him? Please. He's good, but not that good. It was easy to hate him because of his character's actions more than the actual actor... just my opinion.

I vote for S01. Now I have to add that it was my favorite--I didn't say I necessarily think it was the best. Like the arguments about the MVP (Most valuable Player) award in sports. Is the MVP necessarily the best player (best stats)? No, that's not what it is supposed to be about.
S01 was my favorite because it introduced us to the characters and, obviously, the show, itself. Both shocked us for the first time--blew our socks off, in fact. And, well, there's nothing like the first time, right? Whose jaw didn't hit the floor when Vic shot Terry at the end of Pilot? I also remember being shocked at Claudette's line about Vic keeping the niggers and spics in line and how that makes ordinary citizens look the other way at how he gets things done. That line coming from someone who is a minority herself and the matter-of-fact way she delivered it just blew me away. Wasn't it also S01 in which Shane pissed on a guy he thought was a perp. That defined Shane.

It was easy to hate him because of his character's actions more than the actual actor... just my opinion. I think Whitaker earned all the Ohhs and Ahhs. I think his performance was amazing. His freak out in Trophy is one of my favorite scenes now for the whole series. He was amazing but at the same time didn't over shadow everyone else like Close and Anderson did last season(my opinion) He fit perfectly into the equation. After some time to think about it, I do think S5 has been the best season-high tension and anxiety like S2 with Armadillo + the great performances by the characters + The Shield humor that everyone loves. S5-The best yet, but S2 is still my favorite.

S2 -- The Armenian money train set up was top notch S4 -- First show I saw was the stakeout show. just something about your first time S5 -- First full season of new stuff S1 -- Hell of a job setting the stage for future discussions and the reason we are all here. S3 -- My 5th place vote as of this posting. Still plenty of ass kickery. As with any of these polls, the right to re-arrange is invoked. I could just as easily put any season in any spot in the order.

shootfirst-I think you are the 1st to not put S4 in the bottom 2. Nothing wrong with that thought. By stakeout do you mean the one when Vic and Danny are watching over the captins house? or Lem and Vic watching Free-Bo's of Vic, Shane, Ronnie, Army watching the church?(I think I may watch them a little too much)

My order keeps changing. Main reason for putting S4 up there was that was what got me to want to tune in for S5, my first full one. I had seen promos before but, for no particular reason, had never watched the show. Guess we all had to start sometime.

I liked season 2 the best. I thought the entire season kept me on my seat. Armadillo and the money train were great. I also thought it showed how much Aceveda really needed Vic. I saw a lot of people ranked season 4 low. I really liked season 4. I've watched it a lot and I actually think it brings out the strike teams dynamics a lot more than the other seasons. It shows how cocky shane is and how stupid he is, it also shows how much he needs Vic. It also shows despite how much he disliked Vic, how much he wanted to be like him with leading Army and the whole Antoine thing. It also showed how Ronnie is important to the team b/c he was the one keeping the garage sting going which gave them a big bust with the Russian, and Ronnie found the Shane video with Antione asking him to kill Vic. It aslo showed Lem having a conscience about the little girl and the whole team coming together at the end to save him. I also liked it because it showed that Vic could work within the law under Rawlings and still be an affective cop, something we hadn't seen before. Also that season was the begining of the end with Lem taking the heroin. I thought that season had a lot of different story lines which I enjoyed especially. so overall I would rate it this way, 2,1 5,4, and 3. but dont think that I would say 5 4 or 3 were bad, they were all GREAT, just some a little more great than others.

i would have to say season 1. it was the start of this great show. all seasons are great, very powerful for the true fans of the shield. its hard to pick a favorite. every season has somewhat different personalities in the characters. it's like they grow in the show and change some. and thats cool cause we get to watch these cool changes in our favorit characters.

my second fav is s5. it's like, from start, to end kinda. season 1, you never really expected terry's death to be the huge factor in season 5. you just watched and enjoyed all the coruptedness. it was enternaining. but sr hinted a little about it (gilroy, wired, asking vic about it) acevedas grudge about it.
