I can send you notes about my family history. All of those elements are present--that's right, even murder. When I lived in Hungary in 1980, I dated my cousin for a while (oh, you left out incest). Actually, she was a cousin with the same last name as mine--but she was a 7th cousin and our nearest relatives who were siblings lived in the 1700s. ;D Anyway, while there, I met her divorced father--a rather dashing figure I must admit and quite the ladies man. A couple of years after I came back to the States I heard that a disgruntled husband slashed his throat in broad daylight. Oh, those wild Hungarians, heh. Interesting story! I'm sure it's not considered incest when it's that distant. The funny thing is, I didn't put incest in that sentence about murder, madness, etc...but it's already in the plot. Stepfather rapes 15 year old girl, and the girl's mother (whose reality check has definitely been returned for insufficient funds) suspects the resulting pregnancy was caused by the girl having intercourse with a devil or demon.
Living well is the best revenge sounds like a corollary of the Law of Karma. Especially those who rip their own eyes out.
Yep. One of those basic truths, whether it's "as ye sow ye shall reap" or Karma or The Law of Threefold Return.

1. What is your profession?
IT(Info Tech) at the Univ of Pennsylvania
2. What did you want to be as a kid?
A singer. No kidding. I wanted to be like Ella Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaughn or Peggy Lee.
3. If you could be anything you wanted to be, irregardless of education, _what would you be?
A librabrian or Formula one race car driver. I like Nascar but the cars aren't sexy enough to me.
4. If you were to write a book, what would it be about?
I haven't the foggiest idea because I have no inclination to write one which is funny since I read books!
5. What is one thing a person might do that is sure to piss you off?
Being dishonest. White lies happen...I'm talking about bigtime dishonesty.
6. Name three people, currently living, whom you admire.
Liz Taylor (I will genuinely mourn when she dies). She's gone from femme fatale/home wrecker/sometimes good actress to full time perfume mogul and philantropist and much of that time she was sick. She just has an intense will to live. It's quite remarkable. I laughed when she said having heart failure was a bore. It's just such a "Liz thing" to say!
Penn's former president, Judith Rodin. I was skeptical about her at first but she did a GREAT job in helping transform a good university into a great university. No one questions Penn's greatness now... it just is.
Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist. He's a great patriot as are all the other Supreme Court Justices. I was going to say Sandra Day O'Connor but I already have 2 women on this list. There have only been two Chief Justices in my life that I can remember! Burger and Rehnquist!
7. Did you idolize anyone as a child?
Yes. They were all women. I've never idolized any men. Ever. A lot of actresses who had their heyday in 50s and early 60s like Susan Heyward, Grace Kelly and Liz. And the singers I mentioned above.
8. What would be a 2-week dream vacation for you?
Paris. Even with the stinky French. Paris is just so fabulous you can forgive them almost anything. It's also close enough to London that you can pop over to London when the French get too annoying.
9. If you had only one more day to live, how would you spend it?
I would try to reassure my dearest friend that life goes on, although it would HURT for long time, and she would be all right without me.
10. What is the most important thing you've learned about life so far?
That most people, if you give them a chance and really listen to them, are striving to do the right thing most of the time.
I've also learned that good health is a MIRACLE. I thank God every day that he's kept so well in my life.
11. Finally, if you have one and care to share it, what is your personal motto/mantra in life?
I don't really have a specific one. I just try to aspire to be the kind of person that God would want me to be.

Hey everyone! My name is Guy and I'm from Israel, I guess the best way to introduce myself is just to fill in the questionnaire. BTW: I'm 18 years old, and I pretty much lied in the registration because I wasn't sure if you need to be 21 or anything. Anyways, in Israel The Shield only has a tiny (18) on the top left corner on the screen, so it's all good clean fun. 1. Currently I'm waiting for November, that's when I enlist to the army. Anyways, please don't go all "zionist oppressor" on my ass because were not here to talk about that and it's mandatory anyways . What I want to do? I'd love to write a series for TV or something like that. 2. A Novelist. 3. Ahhhm, I'd love to be one of those people who hike all around the world and earn enough money just for food and the next hike by doing god knows what. Either that or some biker in a biker gang, driving all around the US, except I'm not really into swastikas and that stuff. Or some lone hitchhiker. Gee I guess all I want to do is set loose the hippie in me. 4. Science fiction/fantasy I guess. Nothing with aliens and scantly clad female-barbarians though, I'd love to try something nicer. 5. I Really don't get pissed off easily, but I hate it when people discard the things I say as if it's not worth a damn. 6. Batman, Spiderman and Wolverine? OK, it's hard for me to point out 3 people. One person would be someone I know. Two others? I guess Chuck Palahniuk (the way he writes/what he writes completely blows me away) and... OK this spot is for rent. 7. Jerry Seinfeld. The character he portrayed, anyways. 8. Trying to hitchhike from some country in Europe, or a state in the US and seeing how far can I get. 9. I'd cry all day and masterbate at least twice. OK, well, gee I really don't know what would I do. I'd probably be in a completely messed up state of mind and not even realize what the heck am I doing. 10. The sooner you realize your skin has to be rock tough the better. Don't give a shit about 95% of the people you meet and don't let them interfere with your life. Steer clear of anyone who even shows mild signs of being a real f*cker/backstabber. The most important lesson i've learnt is that if you think life owes you anything, you're in for some very harsh, unpleasent surprises. 11. Try to do the best you can to survive and turn this world into a better place.

Welcome, Guy! I like seeing so many new international members lately. Very cool! I don't think you'll find any political tyraids around here. This site is made up of the most mature and sensible fans I've ever seen. I don't think anyone is even inclined to pick a fight or spew politically. I think that's one reason The Shield people have taken a liking to us...the other is the Admin's rapport with them on a personal level. You're in the right place if you want to talk Shield with some serious Shield fans. Read, post and enjoy yourself! <someone pass Guy a wine cooler>

Thanks for the warm welcome The Shield is definitely my favorite TV show, and to be honest before it I believed there's nothing on TV but pure garbage After watching The Shield I opened my eyes a little, and I have to say that today the quality of some shows simply amazes me. I really think that some shows really push storytelling to a new level.

ylangylang, for whom or what publication do you write these newsletters, copy, etc? I've done a lot of that, also (not that you'd know it now!) in addition to being a proposal writer for a private research firm. Then I was head-hunted to be a science writer for the National Institutes of Heatlh (AIDS research, directly under the President!). In general, where are you in your career? What area of the country are you in? What is your educational background? Well, aren't a nosey nancy now!

I'm freelancing for clients in the entertainment, publishing, high tech, and healthcare industries, but how boring is that? Did you end up working for NIH? Did you meet the president? What was he like?
Tell us all about it -- except for the "but then I'd have to kill you" parts, of course.

Yes, I did work at the NIH (National Institutes of Health) for five years. I never met the President(s)--George Bush Sr and then Clinton--but I sure had to scramble a few times to get presentations ready for them. I still work for the Federal Govt, another agency, but if I tell you any more...well, you know!
