If you want...heh!
I came up with a little questionnaire so we can learn more about the other members. (Of course, you have the right to retain counsel and refuse to answer any or all of the following*)
1. What is your profession? If you're still in school, what is your targeted profession?
2. What did you want to be as a kid?
3. If you could be anything you wanted to be, regardless of education, what would you be?
4. If you were to write a book, what would it be about?
5. What is one thing a person might do that is sure to piss you off?
6. Name three people, currently living, whom you admire.
7. Did you idolize anyone as a child?
8. What would be a 2-week dream vacation for you?
9. If you had only one more day to live, how would you spend it?
10. What is the most important thing you've learned about life so far?
11. Finally, if you have one and care to share it, what is your personal motto/mantra in life?
*However, anything you say can and will be used against you. JUST KIDDING!!!! ;D

What the heck...I have the most boring life ever, so not much to hide! 1) my profession: program manager in high-tech/communications industry 2) as a kid: wanted to be a doctor (still would like to be, but too old now, and the idea of that *much* school is pretty daunting) 3) If I could be TEXTanything I wanted to be? How about a philanthropist? self-made billionaire? 4) If I wrote a book I'd probably write some sort of fiction, not about any one thing in particular. 5) Sure to piss me off: splitting infinitives! (j/k) actually I 'd say talking sh*t about my friends/family is sure to piss me off...you have been warned. Did I mention that Vic Mackey is my brother? ha ha 6) Three_living_ people who I admire: (my political persuasions completely transparent at this point)...Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Peggy Noonan, and my father. 7) Did I idolize anyone as a child: hmm. Tom Selleck? Duran Duran? I guess I was a typical 80's kid. 8) A dream two-week vacation for me would be a repeat of my '96 trip to Paris, France; Moscow, St. Petersberg, Russia. Amazing.... 9) If I only had one more day to live I would spend the day with my family and friends all around me, just relaxing and enjoying everyone! 10) The most important thing I've learned about life so far is that most of the time you pretty much have to look out for yourself and put yourself first, cause no one else will! 11) Hmm. I don't really have a personal motto, but there are a couple of them that I'm fond of: a) "There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs;" b) "There is no limit to the amount of good you can do in the world as long as you don't care who gets the credit."

Great answers, Fju! I was just going to prod you a bit to answer the questionnaire so we'd know more about you...
"massholes"...ha ha! I've heard the worst drivers in the nation are in Boston. I've never been there to see for myself. I used to traverse the beltway around Washington DC on a daily basis and it wasn't that bad. As long as you go at least 75 mph... you'll do fine.
The worst drivers I've ever encountered, by far, are in Denver! I clutch a rosary in my teeth whenever I drive there... and I'm not even Catholic!!

Hey HaroldM! I am so glad you've introduced yourself! What is a/the Network Operations Center? You might have an easier time explaining it to a shoe than to me, though! I am notoriously computer-challenged. Anything more than off and on buttons, and I am lost... it was actually The Shield that forced me to buy a new computer and learn how to set things up at home for myself. Would you believe I spend HOURS a day on a computer in my job??

Bascially I monitor the networks, etc. for a large ISP and if stuff goes down, breaks, I get people to fix it. Fun job actually.

Not yet. I don't think this site has a chat function, but we can look into that. Other reasons: 1. critical mass--this is changing; different time zones--can be overcome, but also somewhat dependent on reason #1.
If chat is not an option on this site, one way around it is to use Yahoo! IM's chat feature. I chatted with a couple of members that way the other night. Are you signed up with Yahoo!?

1. What is your profession? If you're still in school, what is your targeted profession? At present I'm on disability, but I'm writing a novel and hope that when I finish it I will once again be a taxpayer.
2. What did you want to be as a kid? A horse rancher, with dozens of Morgans and Arabians.
3. If you could be anything you wanted to be, irregardless of education, what would you be? A prolific novelist who hits the bestseller list with most or all of my books.
4. If you were to write a book, what would it be about?
Murder, madness, dysfunctional families, sex, drugs, rock'n'roll, laughing your way through hard times, and love that never dies.
5. What is one thing a person might do that is sure to piss you off? I despise bullies and bigots of every sort, and believe it is my sacred duty to annoy the hell out of them with witty and/or sarcastic remarks.
6. Name three people, currently living, whom you admire. There are so many that my brain locks up when I try to prioritize them. Steven King most of the time (his work ranges from sublime to schlockfest, and I won't read the schlock), my cousin Ted (he's a theoretical physicist and I don't understand a word he says about subatomic particles but it's fun to try ;D) and Jamie from Mythbusters.
7. Did you idolize anyone as a child? Walt Disney, John Wayne, The Smother's Brothers, and Nancy Drew.
8. What would be a 2-week dream vacation for you? A farm with rolling green hills and a good riding horse, and no physical pain so I could do all the things I loved when I was young and on my parents' horse farm.
9. If you had only one more day to live, how would you spend it? Showing my daughter how much I love her, and teaching her how to get by without me.
10. What is the most important thing you've learned about life so far? These two are tied for first: living well is the best revenge, and laughter is the best medicine.
11. Finally, if you have one and care to share it, what is your personal motto/mantra in life? Most days I'd give the same answer as # 10. Other days my motto is, "There are none so blind as those who've had their eyes ripped out."

4. If you were to write a book, what would it be about? Murder, madness, dysfunctional families, sex, drugs, rock'n'roll, laughing your way through hard times, and love that never dies. I can send you notes about my family history. All of those elements are present--that's right, even murder. When I lived in Hungary in 1980, I dated my cousin for a while (oh, you left out incest). Actually, she was a cousin with the same last name as mine--but she was a 7th cousin and our nearest relatives who were siblings lived in the 1700s. ;D Anyway, while there, I met her divorced father--a rather dashing figure I must admit and quite the ladies man. A couple of years after I came back to the States I heard that a disgruntled husband slashed his throat in broad daylight. Oh, those wild Hungarians, heh. Living well is the best revenge sounds like a corollary of the Law of Karma. Especially those who rip their own eyes out.
