Just wondering what everybody else's significant other/spouse thinks of the show. My wife thinks that it gives a false impression on police work. She also thinks that Reno 911 is degrading to cops. I tried telling her that its just a show. hell, even the show cops isn't real. police work is 5% fighting crime and 95% documentation. I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

Don't have one. Parents think it's pretty sick, however.

Hold on, let me ask.
"Catherine Dent? Hey, baby. What do you think of the show?"

If this were a poll and there was a choice for She loathes the show with every fiber of her being, I would have to choose that one.
It really didn't help that the first and only episode she ever watched was "Mum."

No significant other. My mom wathed S1 with me when it came out on DVD, and she saw a few episode from each of 2, 3, and 4 and the 1st of S5, but she never really got into. My siblings dont watch it, and the only thing on TV my dad watches are sports and the History Channel.
I cant even get any of my friends to watch it.
I am a lone Shield wolf.

My (soon to be ex) husband is a fan of the show, but not a FANatic like moi. I've turned ALL my friends on to it, though; we started at the beginning a couple months ago. It's been really great watching them watch it for the first time, ya know? The hardest part for me is keeping my mouth shut and not constantly saying, "OMG! _________ is about to ________!!!!"

My former signif. other doesn't even know the show exists except that she knows I have visited the set a few times. She also once accused me of having an affair with Shawn Ryan's assistant. She's quite amusing.

Mine refuses to watch it, because she likes to talk during shows, and I tell her if she stays she must be quiet and shut the f--k up. So she does the next best thing, she leaves me alone to watch.

I even go as far as making sure the house is picked up and dinner is done so I don't hear her complain that all I do is watch TV. I do this for the shield, rescue me and football. other than that, she can have the TV.

Like E- my soon-to-be ex likes the show. But doesn't spend precious hours debating why, who, what, when something was done from the show. He also doesn't belong to cool groups like this, nor have a vic mackey screen saver. hmmph. (warning, personal thought coming up: Maybe that's why he's becoming an ex?!)
And one significiant cop buddy of mine says he don't like it cause it gives an unrealistic view. And another significiant cop buddy is like me- in addicted to the show!

My husband would never understand my affinity for this TV show. Fortunately, he's usually not home when The Shield is on.

My hubby loves it and it is his favorite show. His favorite is Vic because they are a lot alike. Of course, my husband doesn't go around killing people, but he would beat the crap out of someone if he had too. We both got hooked and can't wait for next season.

It's pretty amusing to read the posts in this thread again. I just thought of a good test for a future sig. other, if there is a future sig. other and assuming she hasn't heard of the show: have her sit down and watch Pilot. If she isn't blown away and hooked, put a virtual bullet in her left cheek--it's hasta la vista, baby!
