If you had the chance to choose the new Captain of the Barn, who would you choose and why?

Claudette. She's earned it, and she makes the most sense.

Claudette would be too predictable, IMO. Danny works cause she's been pushed over so many times, Billings works too cause it'd create a sense of chaos and disorder, so I'm happy with what they've done. None of the guys on the strike team would work; they're needed on the streets. It's not Dutch's character to be captain of the barn. Wouldn't feel right to me or to him. Um... I didn't really like Rawlings. Julien needs to find himself before he takes on such a huge responsibility. To me he's sort of a symbol of inner weakness and pity, not traits suited for a captain. Oh, and it would be waaay too predictable and illogical to put Acevada back on.
So yeah, I'm happy with what they're doing.

I think Vic should have a series of nightmares in which he comes to work and the ghosts of dead characters keep showing up as captains to talk to him... Terry, Armadillo, Margos, Gilroy...
Aw, c'mon, they had guest dead narrators all through the last season of OZ!
Terry: Thanks for the bullet hole, Vic. Turned out to be the chakra for my enlightenment. You've built up some good karma, my friend.
Armadillo: You know why the ancients did so much animal sacrifice? The gods like the aroma of cooking meat! Turns out my face went right to the top of the charts...you set me up real good for the afterlife, buddy!
Margos: And the Greeks have this messenger guy, Mercury...he's got WINGS on his feet!!!!! Thanks, Vic, I never found such fulfillment on earth.
Gilroy: Hey, at least I died in Mexico. On Miami Vice they killed me off in a bathroom stall. You're the best, man.
Vic goes out, buys a Christmas goose for the poor. At dinner, his autistic son pipes up and says, "God bless us, every one."
Dead Armenian hauled away for plagiarism, copyright infringement, and just plain idiocy.
Fin.

I dunno if I could see Danny as the captain...
...simply because she's still a uni. Would they promote a uni to captain status?
Maybe if she became a detective first (which I hope happens by the end of the series), then she'd have a shot.

If it was real life and I had to choose someone who I thought would genuinely be a great captain I would find it tough. The easy-going Claudette of Season 1 would have been a great captain, but as she is now she's got way too much baggage. She's probably far too bitter to even accept the job after everything that has happened and she's pissed way too many people off with her political inflexibility. The only other character I would consider would be Danny, as she's the most level-headed - she's passionate and dedicated, but also has the cynicism and flexibility that the job requires. Unfortunately she's a bit too young and hasn't really climbed through the ranks or had much experience as a detective.
However, dramatically-speaking, the best character for the role is Billings. He is the "corporate yes-man jellyfish" that Claudette referred to in the Season 4 finale. He also represents a type of leadership that we haven't seen yet - we've seen Aceveda's political and occasionally self-serving leadership and Monica's tougher, more morally stringent, idealistic rule - now is the perfect time for a captain who doesn't really have any political or moral goals and just wants to wait it out until he can collect his pension.

Captain Rowlings was a great captain she just came in at a bad timeand people just werent willing to let her seizure policy have a chance. If givin a little bit of help and support she would have made the seizure policy and the barn all run smoothly but unfortunatley she wasn't givin the chance.
