OK, I'll start the thread again...
I kind of like where they're going this season with a few different angles. I like Benito Martinez too much for him to never appear on the show again, so I was glad to see the writers are following his issues up through city council. Seems like the power trip is really affecting him when combined with the rape issues. Great stuff.
How about the ending? Vic looking around at all his ex-Strike Team members, thinking about how much things have changed, watching Shane and his new partner enter the Barn but with a completely different idea of how things are going to work. The writers/producers do a great job w/ exit music.
I'm really interested to see how Vic/Shane plays out. It seems like, from the promo, Shane will get a beatdown from Antwan next week, and I bet Vic saves him just in time. Shane will be torn, because even though it's in Vic's interest to protect Shane and make sure IAD isn't all over him, Shane might not see it that way and will continue to try to use Vic...who knows? Seems like Vic will ultimately get the upper hand, but I'm sure the writers will throw curveballs our way. Shane has his family to think about too, so if Shane owes Vic after next week, if Vic ends up saving his ass, that complicates matters even further for Shane.
I like how Glenn Close is working out too; tough but a little naive when it comes to the political matters with which Aceveda is so familiar. If she does go to that meeting and tries to get feedback, I envision it being a little like Dutch talking to the media last season about the serial cuddler rapist; a lot of people won't know where she's coming from and she'll need support from Aceveda. Then she may have to run the seizures his way instead of her way. I'm sure that will lead to some kind of confrontation.
I'm hoping/predicting that somehow, Vic gets the last word this season with both Shane and Aceveda. With Shane, I bet Shane owes him big with Antwan, and Vic uses his brain to figure out a way for Shane to continue being dirty but staying off the radar. With Aceveda, I'm thinking Vic somehow finds out about the prostitutes or something else. That could tie into the Rowling/Aceveda dispute; we all know Vic would side w/ Rowling and use anything he can to get Aceveda off his back for good.
What did you guys think?
