So now that I have watched all of S1 through minus the finale...I have come to a theory. Have you guys ever wondered how Vic found out Terry was going to rat on them. My guess was Gilroy gave Vic the heads up and Vic took care of it. That was nice of Gilroy, but in a way sleazy. I think it would be safe to say that Gilroy is truely a sleazy character though. Eventhough he had Vics back, he told him in like episode 9, that he could no longer hold his back. Despite that, he asked Vic for a favor when he foolishly hit and ran. GOsh....vic covered up for him then Gilroy blew away the only witness to the crime much to Vic chagrine. Another Sleazy thing Gilroy has done, was doing that land manipulation where he was diverting police away from "The Grove" so land value would go down and he could purchase land. Now when he showed up and threatened Vics family...that was creepy.

Gilroy is the one who told Vic, and somebody in Justice told Gilroy about it. There is a scene where Vic and Gilroy are in a car and Gilory says something along the lines "My source in Justice is all over my ass about Terry and wants to know if youve made us acomplises to a capital crime." Then in S2 when Gilroy "skips bail" and is wearing the wire he tells Vic and Shane when they are in Vics apartment that he hasnt told the DA he warned them Terry was trying to take them down.

yeah, Gilroy was a sleaze but he was also Vics friend. Gilroy wanted to give Vick the heads up on Terry not to have him likked, but to make sure that he kept his nose clean. by the way, how do you get multible DUI's and keep your police job?

He was a sleaze for trying to screw Vic. Yes in reality they were all dirty but as far as the entertainment world goes, Gilroy screwed Vic which wound up only screwing himself and meeting his own demise.

Gillroy had nobodys intrest at heart except his own. vic stood by him and whenever the heat got too hot gillroy would always back down from Vic.

Yep, Gilroy is a sleaze but the beautiful thing about the character was that in his heart he knew it. His self-pity and self-hatred, especially at the end of 1x13 Circles and in 2x10 Coyotes make that clear.
His ignoble demise was also a great touch. 4x02 Grave illustrated rather incisively just what may lay in store for Vic, and by extension, Corrine.

Gilroy would've been perfect for the strike team. He was just as evil as Vic.
