went to the panel discussion last night - was very cool - in a small movie theater at Mann's Chinese in Hollywood - because the main purpose is to campaign for an Emmy they showed highlight clips of Chiklis (his confession, the scene with Claudette where she shows him the photos of Shane, and the scene with his wife, the last scene with Ronnie); Walton (his last phone call with Vic); and CCH (various clips) - then they showed some SoA clips (Gemma in the hospital from the first ep, Jax at the end of the last episode and of course the Doberman on speed scene) - then there was a moderator from the
The LA Times who asked questions of everyone
SR and Kurt talked about writing mostly and the actors talked about acting - SR said he would make some minor changes to the last ep but nothing major - he also said they never used LAPD consultants because they wanted the show to be different from other cop shows and he stressed there was absolutely no ad-libbing which we saw during set visits - they run a tight ship to keep the costs down - SR said there was a 0% chance of ever seeing Vic in a
TV show again which of course clued everyone in that there is some thoughts about a
Shield movie - oddly, casting Chiklis as Vic is apparently not a sure thing and there was a big laugh when Walton expressed his dismay at not being in it - another interesting thing was how most everyone deferred to CCH's acting abilities - a number of us from TSR and the old TSF always thought she was by far the best actor on the show - she was just so good and understated she never really stood out - they are filming
SoA right now and KS said that they new season would continue down the Jax' road of self-discovery and his conflict with Clay - both SR and KS and the casts' of both shows stressed how close-knit everyone was and how important that was to the success of both shows - afterwards the
SoAfolks took off because they had an early call but the
Shield cast hung out - got a chance to meet CCH (I missed her when I visited the set) and got to talk with SR - Walton was his usual friendly self and I got a photo with him (I don't know how to upload pix so I set them to Chem and hopefully he will stick them here) - his new show got picked up by AMC which is cool - SR is the new showrunner for
Lie To Me and CCH is on the Fox show
Brothers - a comedy of all things - all in all a fun night (and free!) - they do these every year at Emmy time so if you plan ahead and are in Cali check it out
