I was pretty sure things were gonna slow down around here after the finale, but not like this! This is downright spooky. It's like a virtual ghost town. Was there a nuclear holocaust that I slept through? Was there some combination of being caught homeless, getting some fatal disease, being kidnapped ... what?
I posted the best line poll for the 6th episode on Wed. evening and I just now became the first (and only) person to vote!
Here, what the hell, let's try this. Consider this thread a nostalgia guest log book and post something here if you haven't been around much to let us know that you are in fact alive and well.
Did you find out that The Shield being over
... didn't affect you nearly as much as you thought it would, ... affected you a lot? ... so-so?
And what has captured your interest now?
In other words, what are you up to?
Or just say hey.

Hey, still alive. Just been REALLY busy at work. And I guess a little lack of interest since I am still in mourning that the show is really over. I did have a thought today, and a question. The sopranos was a huge show(which I liked) and got a lot of press over the finale (mostly complaints). Which leads to my question. IF the Shield would have been on HBO instead of FX do you think it would have been a bigger success as far as viewers? Awards? Controversial? Yes HBO is "pay" tv, but would it have been "bigger"?
I know we all feel it was a great show, and the actors deserved way more recognition than they received, but would it have made a difference if it was on HBO?

Good to hear from you, badcop ... we knew you were still around.
interesting question. I do think it would have been a bigger hit on HBO. FX is still a small player, relatively speaking. Look at all the awards HBO gets at the Emmys.
And I don't care if this thread goes off-topic. I'm just glad to find out which of our members still have a pulse!

I still have a pulse, well last time I checked anyways! I've been busy as well. Have had an unusual amount of shit going on over the past couple of months, things are starting to settle, but I find I don't have much time to log on.
I'm watching a few different shows these days. Underbelly is a firm favourite, an aussie show about Australias underground, the first series last year blew my mind, maybe because it was "banned" in our state as some cases had not yet been heard. The second series this year is focussed on a small country town that I just happened to be born in, all about the drugs and murders and stuff that happened there. I was just a wee munchkin at the time, late 70s early 80s, but the history fascinates me.... I can't believe all that shit was going on at that time so close to home. Anyways, I'm also watching The Mentalist, Hells Kitchen, House am waiting on other shows to come back like Breaking Bad, Saving Grace. Have been watching a lot of cricket and now the AFL is in it's preseason competition (Richmond play tonight) I am hanging out for the season to start up again.
I admittedly tried to watch some of the superbowl. Mainly cos of Benny Grahame, but in what I watched, maybe an hour or so, I didn't see him at all, one of the reasons I stopped watching. I tried people I tried! The ads were non stop. Every time play stopped.... every minute or so there were a bunch of ads, it was like a minute of play 5 ads, another minute of play, another 5 ads. I remember complaining about ads in car racing or something a while back, but this was much much worse. I just lost interest in the game.
Apart from that I've been busy working, trying to help BF get a job, keeping out of trouble and getting unfit - something that really pisses me off, so I did my first workout of the year this morning. I've been following the bushfires this past week, I'm going to assume most have heard about them. Melbourne has been covered in smoke the past couple of days, mainly from back burning and building containment lines. Over $100 mil has been raised in appeals, people are now picking up the pieces wanting to rebuild. It's an ugly time, fingers are being pointed, blame being laid, assmunching looters, grim findings, it's sad, the number of times I've felt like crying since the fires began last weekend.... the compassion and charitability of the nation is touching, this is something that has brought everyone together whoever you are. It's times like these I am so proud to be Australian and live in the best fuckking country in the world.

I'm not dead, but I feel like I am. I have a fever, an infection of unknown origin, am on 3 different antibiotics simultaneously, and my eye twitch won't go away. Feel free to post the discussion thread/polls in the S1 board. Tuesday is coming up fast and I'll probably be in the hospital. Gag.

If "The Shield" had been on HBO, it would have hit bigger IMO. FX are cheap bastards who did not properly promote the series. It almost gave it an underground feel...like we had dug up a gem and were lucky to have uncovered such a find! There are so many peeps that could have been exposed to the series that were not due to lack of press.
