If there was a movie made, I would have to go see it... it's The Shield. However, I really hope that they don't make it into a movie. As others have said before me, this show started with the ultimate attention-grabber, and ended with perfection. There's nowhere else to go. A movie, I think, would cheapen in a sense the memory of what had been some of the greatest years on television, besides coming across as a ploy for more money.

No movie, no miniseries... They achieved perfection with the series finale. Let it go now.
Of course, if they actually made a movie or miniseries or whatever, I'd see it, just as I saw The X-Files movie this past summer. Doesn't mean it's a good idea, however.

Sure, I'd see it.
But it's not worth it.
I want to see new projects from actors, writers, directors etc. Not just constantly rehasing the series.
It ended on a perfect note. It doesn't need to have a movie.. it ended the way it should have: with a bang. Unlike Sopranos which left with somewhat of a whimper, leaving everyone in mass confusion and pissed off that so much storytelling and buildup was wasted for a random ending. That does need a movie. The Shield doesn't.

Notice how I didn't ask whether a Shield movie should be made or would you like for a Shield movie to be made? I simply asked if they made a Shield movie would you go see it? That's what I love about your answer--you don't think they should make one but if they did you would go see it. I'd give odds that 90, maybe 99% of the members here would go see it.

Yes I will. But I don't think you can call it "The Shield" if you don't have Shane. That's why I would rather prefer a prequel than a sequel who can only be about Vic, with perhaps Ronnie after him, or with him, depends on how he takes what Vic would say to him.

I agree with what everybody has said so far. I would go watch it but I personally think they ended the show fine. The writers have done a phenomenal job but I definitely think it would be a tough task to come up with a worthwhile story with what transpired. Hell, 99% would be rooting against Vic for a change and would be rooting for Ronnie to get revenge or something like that. On a side note, do you guys think during the previews for the movie, they'll have a "previously on the shield" to bring everybody up to speed?

OH I feel bad for Run Ronnie Run. Great comedic talent there, but Troy Miller really pulled a Troy Duffy there and screwed the pooch. I wish Bob and David could make another collaboration movie.
As for TS. Sure I'd see it, it's the damn Shield. I think a prequel idea would be the smartest, lost episode type of thing, but Hollywood isn't known for super smart moves.

jajaja,
before this finale i always thought if they did it, it should be done with the whole original cast, with lem back and everyone aceveda captain
but after this finale, and reading what shawn ryan said, it made me wonder about the future instead of the past,
either way, i think we'd be happy with this being the end,

Of course I would ... this was without a doubt one of the all time best series ... and I'd take whatever I could get from this point forward, seriously!

I think a Shield movie where it retells the series would be better. Like a trilogy, with seasons 1 and 2 telling the beginning. Seasons 3,4, and 5 telling the middle. Season 5, 6, and 7 telling the end. Granted there would be no new material and you could essentially splice stuff together to do that but it's the only way I could see it being of Shield quality.

There's lots of responses in the form of "Yeah, I'd go see it.", which is understandable, but realistically, you wouldn't have to GO anywhere to see it -- it'd be a made-for-FX TV movie. 'The Shield' is a television series with a built-in (and comparatively small) fanbase. There's no economically viable reason that Fox would release a Shield continuation or prequel in actual theaters...quite honestly, with the baggage of 7 seasons of backstory, a theatrical run would bomb with the general public. I suppose it's interesting to think about, but it's just never going to happen.

Valid points through and through, Kinski Jr. I'd "Go see" a Shield movie only if Chiklis was in it, and I'm pretty sure he'd only do it if Shawn Ryan was pulling the strings. To me, it's less important what it's about than who would be involved making it. If Chiklis and Ryan were on board, I could have the highest expectations, because they've never taken the high road creatively. I've entrusted 7 years of my life to the characters they'd created and I wasn't let down once. If they got back together and tried to capture lightning in a bottle, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt that if anyone could, it would be these guys and the crew they surround themselves with.
But the relatively low amount of viewers was the point sonofkinski made, and I've thought the same thing. If it were ever done, it wouldn't be a Feature Film, it would be an FX movie, no doubt.
This is the very same reason I laugh at my friends who are fans of Pushing Daisies. They're holding out hope that Bryan Fuller will be able to end his story with a feature film. I personally don't see the audience. It was hemorrhaging viewers at the end. If it couldn't last on Network Television, who would go see a film?

Put me in the camp of seeing it, but hoping it never happens.
Lightning in a bottle, people. Lightning in a bottle.
