In my home, the Shield is known as Daddy's naughty cop show. My wife (soon to be ex as Vic put it) hates the Shield although she never watched a single episode.
I was introduced to the Shield when I was in the Army. While on 24 hour Battalion duty I watched the first half of the Shield season one. I was so engrossed with it that I continued through the morning and into the next afternoon when I should have been sleeping.
I've converted many people to this show. Anyone who has seen one episode has become addicted like I did.
My favorite season is probably Season Four. I loved Glenn Close and Anthony Anderson. I loved the new flavor between Vic and Shane. I love how Shane's carelessness and stupidity in Season Four led to the death of his best friend Lem in Season Five.
My favorite character is Lem because of his integrity, but at the same time his toughness. He was as reliable as can be, almost the total opposite of Shane.
As far as I go, I'm 33, getting divorced, have two kids, love sports, politics, the Shield and Arrested Development. I work for the postal service and am pondering the direction of my further education.
But back to the Shield, it is the deepest, most textured show in the history of television.

Yes, Lem stood true til the end...and what a sad end, but Shane's got it coming. Though a show like the Shield gets you so invovled and interested in every character...it's strange to see the hate between Vic and Shane now...seeing how the two were insepable at the start. Anyhoos...Welcome!
